1) Many idioms come from the everyday life of the English people – Student life (speak by the book说话确切) – Agricultural life (go to seed花谢结籽，退化) – From hunting (to hold in leash控制，抑制住) – From card-games (show one’s hand摊牌，表明 意图)
9.2 Classification of idioms 习语的分类
Idioms can be classified by origin,semantic relationship, morphological structure and grammatical funin
• By semantic relationship • 1) standardized word combination (to make a report作报告) • 2) phraseological unities ( to come to the point 说重点，开门见山) • 3) phraseological fusions（once in a blue moon千载难逢）
