• BI-3 Homework • Write a detailed description of your education history, your employment history and your current job. Your presentation should include answers to questions such as: • • Where did you study and what was your major? • What was your strongest subject? • Did you take part in any extra-curricular activities during your study years? • What dates did you study between? • Did you take on any part time jobs while you were a student? • How long did it take you to find your first job after you graduated? • How did you find your first job? • How many jobs have you had? • What are some responsibilities you have had in these jobs? • Why did you leave your previous jobs? • Have you ever received a promotion in your work? • What has been your proudest career achievement?
• BI-7 Homework • • Prepare a report that compares two similar products from different companies. The report should include at least 5 points of comparison. You should be able to make a presentation of this report in your next class with minimal use of notes. • Prepare a questionnaire including 10 questions on consumer buying preferences. Topics could include: travel preferences, shopping preferences, entertainment preferences, holiday preferences, or dining preferences. See Simulation 2 in the Product Comparison courseware if you are in need of some ideas for what sort of questions to include.
• BI-5 Homework • Draw two Pie Charts comparing two sets of figures for either two separate years or two different markets. For example: • Sales of mobile phones by brand in China for 2005 compared to sales of mobile phone in 2010. • Number of Internet users in Asian countries compared to the number of users Internet users in European countries. • Chinese imports/exports for 2008 compared to Chinese imports for 2012. • You should give reasons why sales/numbers were better in some markets than in others and/or why imports/exports last year were different than this year. • • Write a brief overview about a country (not China) focusing on the trade aspect of that country. You should give an outline of recent trade history and then consider the following questions. • What does it produce? • What does it import or export? • Who are the main sources of its imports? • Who are the main destinations of its exports? • • Write down 2 arguments both for and against Free Trade
• BI-11 Homework • Prepare a short presentation of your thoughts on the topic: In a business meeting, how can I make a great first impression? • Make a list of the different topics that you have studied in Business Intermediate level and be prepared to review them in BI 12.

• BI-1 Homework • 1. Write a short article comparing the two companies (Ace and United Industries). This should include both similarities and differences. Come to class prepared to answer the question: Which company would you prefer to work for? Why? • 2. Write a description of your company and come to class prepared to make a presentation on this topic (that is, not just reading it out!). The information that you provide should cover the same points as in this lesson (e.g. History, Location, Products/Services, Customers, Employees, Competitors, and Sales/Profits. • If you aren’t working at present, write about a former company. If you’ve never had a job, interview a relative or friend about their company. • 3. Research and write up a description of a well-known company, such as Nike or Samsung, using the same guidelines. You should be able to find all the information you need on the internet!
• BI-9 Homework • • Prepare a short presentation comparing Charles Blake and Mike Epstein. The presentation should include both similarities and differences. Points of comparison should include education and work background, hobbies, family and also the way the two business people look!
