摘要:诗歌是人类文学史上重要的一葩,其中,田园诗起着举足轻重的作用。不论在西方还是在中国,他都远源流长。然而,因文化的差异,中西方的田园诗也呈现不同的特点,本文将在这方面进行探讨,以加深对两种文化的理解和便以翻译的借鉴。

Abstraction:

Poetry is a significant style of literature in human cultural history. And the pastoral poem, a kind of poetry, plays a very important part in poetry. It was prevailing for a long period in neither China nor European countries. While different soil produces different fruits, such thing happens in pastoral poem. We will discuss the difference between China's pastoral poem and western countries' in this thesis.

The comparison of western pastoral poem and China's pastoral poem

Introduction:

Pastoral poem is a style western countries and China have in common. However, there is difference between western pastoral poem and China's. And this difference, in fact comes from the difference between western culture and China's culture. So only just start with the culture, we can understand the substance of the difference of literature and style. We also still explore the difference between western pastoral poem and China's through comparing them, in order to deepen the understanding of different culture and to be convenient to translate.

The definition of western pastoral:

"A minor but important mode which, by convention, is concerned with the lives of shepherds. It is of great antiquity and interpenetrates many works in Classical and modern European literature. It is doubtful if pastoral ever had much to do with the daily working =life of shepherds, though it is not too difficult to find shepherds( in Montenego, Albania,Greece and Sardina, for instance) who composed poetry, sing songs and while away the hours playing the flute. For the most past pastoral trends to be an idealization of shepherd life, and, by so being,creates an image of a peaceful and uncorrupted existence."

Ⅰ.The different origin

1.Westernpastoral poem is on the basis of ideal.

Western pastoral poem was formed in B.C.3 century, that is, it has a long history in the European literature. Form the definition we know the poets usually described the ideal pastoral life, showing the nostalgia to the past and supposed existence of peace and love which disappeared in Renaissance period. Take the famous British playwright, poet (Christopher Marlowe) in the Renaissance for example, his (The Passionate Shepherd to His Love) is one typical pastoral poem:

Come, live with me and be my love,

And we will all the pleasure prove

That valleys, groves, or hills, or field,

Or woods and steep mountains yield;

Where we will sit upon the rocks,

And see the shepherds feed our flocks

By shallow rivers, to whose falls,

Melodious birds sing madrigals,

And then a thousand fragrant poesies,

A cap of flowers, and a kirtle

Embroidered all with leaves of myrtle;

A gown made of the finest wool

Which from our pretty lambs we pull;

Slippers buckles of the purest gold.

A belt of straw and ivy-buds,

With coral clasps and amber studs:

And if these pleasures may thee move,

Come, live with me, and be my love.

Thy silver dishes for thy meat,

As precious as the gods do eat,

Shall on an ivory table be

Prepares each day for thee and me.

The shepherd swains shall dance and sing,

For thy delight, each may morning,

If these delights thy mind may move,

Then live with me, and be my love.

In this poem, we can see colorful roses with thick delicious smell, but it is uncomfortable to lie on the beds of roses with thorns. It is absurd. that the beto of straw and ivy- buds made with coral clasps and amber studs, slippers lived with buckles of gold, and the shepherd girls just always fall in love instead of doing anything. The passionate shepherd in the poem is in fact not real passionate, while looks like a rich guy who just wants to make beautiful girls. In fact, Christopher Marlowe, lived in London all the time, never lived in country, let alone familiar with countries when he sang of the country life.

2. China's pastoral poem is on the basis of realty.
