Speaking of idols(说起偶像),mine is an Israeli-born violinist named Itzhak Perlman.Perlman suffered from(遭受)a terrible disease which hurt his legs at four, so he has to use a wheelchair in his life. However,it never stops him from playing the violin. His music can be sad or joyful, loud or soft, and most of it is full of power and strength.Anyone who has attended Perlman’s performances will tell you it’s more than exciting to watch him play.Perlman is definitely my idol due to(由于)his self-confidence and impressive skill.
My idol
My idol is Ernest Heimingway, and he was a famous novelist in American history.I am fond of him because of his amazing experiences.Heimingway was born at the turn of the century(在世纪之交)and once(曾经)was an ambulance driver in the First World War.Then he went to Cuba to be an army correspondent(部队通讯员). Because Heimingway was really good at writing,he was awarded the Nobel Prize of literature.I’m especially impressed by Heimingway’s saying‘Better to light the candle than to curse the darkness.’It encourages me to fight endlessly against the difficulties(不停地同困难作斗争)and never say never.

A Chinese traditional skill
Among various traditional Chinese skills,Chinese paper cutting is one of them, which has a long history.A great many years ago, paper cutting became popular, especially during the Chinese festivals.People use coloured paper to cut things in different shapes such as people, characters and flowers. Then they are stuck on(粘在)the walls, windows, mirrors and lanterns at home as decorations. The Chinese like paper cuttings at heart(心底里)because they are supposed to(被期待)bring good luck. However, fewer and fewer young people are willing to(愿意/情愿)learn it since(因为)paper cutting is a difficult skill which requires time and patience(需要时间和耐心).I worry about the future of this traditional skill,so I want to call on teenagers to learn paper cutting(号召青年人去学习剪纸).
