Donot block or obstruct air openings on the furnace, air openings around the furnace area or the spacings aroundthe furnace.WARNING:Do not reduce the supply of fresh air to the furnace. This could create the production of excessive amounts of Carbon Monoxide - a colorless, odorless gas that is a deadly poisonthat could result in serious personal injury or death.Do not block any openings that are supplyingfresh air to the room or closet the furnace is in. If your furnace obtains its air through a pipe to the outdoors, do not allow the inlet of the pipe to become blocked.5WHAT TO DO IF YOU SMELL GAS• Do not try to light any appliance.• Do not touch any electrical switch; do not use anyphone in your building.• Leave the building immediately.• I mmediately call your gas supplier from a neighbors phone. Follow the gas suppliers instructions.• I f you cannot reach your gas supplier, call the fi re department.nstallation and service must be performed by a qualifi ed installer, service agency or the gas supplier.Figure 1. Gas ValvesWARNING:The furnace was shipped from the factory equipped to operate on natural gas. Conversion to LP/propane gas must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician using a factory supplied conversion kit. Failure to use the proper conversion kit can cause fi re, explosion, property damage, carbon monoxide poisoning, personal injury, or death.INSPECTIONY our furnace and its venting system should be inspected annually by a licensed HVAC technician. The fi lter should be inspected at least once a month. See page 7 for Items that should be inspected by the homeowner.VENTING SYSTEM WARNING:I t is imperative to maintain proper operation of the venting system, including the masonry chimney if applicable. I nsuffi cient venting could create the production of excessive amounts of Carbon Monoxide - a colorless, odorless gas that is a deadly poison that could result in serious personal injury or death.SHUTTING DOWN THE FURNACEShould you ever need to shut down your furnace for service or maintenance, shut off the gas valve to the furnace before shutting off the electrical service. Y our furnace may be equipped with one of three types of gas valves. Remove the door panel from the front of the furnace and determine which valve type matches your installation in Figure 1. Either move the switch or turn the knob to the OFF Position. Additional instructions for shutting down the furnace can be found on page 7. If your installation has a manual gas shutoff valve on the gas supply pipe, shut this off, then shut off the electric to the furnace.• New or newly renovated homes may require more frequent changing until the construction dust has minimized. Filters designed to remove smaller particles such as pollen, may require additional maintenance. GAS SUPPL Y AND PIPINGThis furnace does not have a pilot. It is equipped with an ignition device which automatically lights the burner. DO NOT light the burner by hand.IMPORTANT NOTE: Should the gas supply fail to shut off or if overheating occurs, shut off the gas valve to the furnace before shutting off the electrical supply!WARNING:All gas piping and shutoff valves must be installed in compliance with local codes andutility regulations by licensed installers. DO NOT attempt to modify, or tap into existing gas lines yourself. Fire or explosion may result causing property damage, personal injury orloss of life. Failure to follow the safety warningsexactly could result in serious injury, death orproperty damage.6The furnace components shown on pages 9 - 11 will helpto identify and locate various parts of the furnace. Thecomponent you need to familiarize yourself with is thegas valve. Y ou will use this to turn the furnace on and off. There are no user serviceable parts. All repairs must bedone by a licensed HVAC technician.VENTING SYSTEMThis furnace is designed to fulfi ll the requirements of beingclassifi ed as either a Category I or Category IV furnace. These classifi cations are related to the furnace’s AnnualFuel Utilization Effi ciency (AFUE) rating, the percentageof fuel that is converted into usable heating energy.Category I FurnacesThese furnaces typically have an AFUE rating of about80% and may be vented through a properly designed metalvent or masonry chimney. This venting system needs tobe primarily vertical, so that the hot combustion productswill develop a natural upwards draft action.Category IV FurnacesCategory IV furnaces typically have an AFUE rating over90% and are mainly vented through plastic PVC pipe. These furnaces also produce liquid condensate which isslightly acidic. The vent piping must be sloped upwardsaway from the furnace to properly drain the condensateback to the condensate disposal system.THERMOSTATSThis family of furnaces includes single stage, two-stage andmodulating capabilities. T hese different capabilities requiredifferent thermostats to reach their best performance.Single stage furnaces (SA, SK, SC & SL models) shouldbe controlled by a conventional single stage thermostat.T wo stage furnaces (T A, TK, TC & TL models) will performbest with a conventional two - stage thermostat. However,it is possible to also control two stage furnaces with asingle stage thermostat. Both thermostats are commonlyavailable at your local building supply store. Consultwith your installer about which type is best for yourinstallation. The modulating MQ furnaces will not workwith a conventional thermostat and must be controlled byan iQ thermostat, available through your dealer.CAUTION:Do not reduce the supply of fresh air to thefurnace. I t is extremely important that thefurnace receives an unobstructed flow of clean, fresh air to properly burn the fuel gas. If thisflow of air is restricted, the partially burnedcombustion gases may create dangerousamounts of carbon monoxide - a colorless, odorless gas that is a deadly poison that cancause personal injury or death.Air openings on top of the furnace and openings in closetdoors or walls must never be restricted. If the furnace isoperated without adequate air for combustion, the fl ameroll-out switch will open, turning off the gas supply to theburners. This indicates that a serious problem with theburners has occurred and must be corrected immediately.Only a licensed HVAC technician can reset this switch. Before remodeling near the furnace, consult with a localcode offi cial or the National Fuel Gas Code to make sureyou will be in compliance with supplying adequate air forcombustion. By erecting new walls, it is sometimes possibleto inadvertently restrict the furnace’s air supply. Y ou canfi nd more information about supplying combustion air inthe NFGC, which is available at many libraries.SOURCES OF CORROSIONIt is known that certain common household chemicals cancause heat exchanger corrosion if the vapors are pulled intothe furnace’s burners The following is a list of chemicalsthat should not be used or stored near the furnace.Do not store these chemicals near the furnace:• Permanent wave solutions• Chlorinated waxes and cleaners• Chlorine based swimming pool chemicals• Water softening chemicals• De-icing salts or chemicals• Carbon tetrachloride• Halogen type refrigerants• Cleaning solvents (perchloroethylene)• Printing inks, paint removers, varnishes, etc.• Hydrochloric acid• Cements and glues• Antistatic fabric softeners• Masonry acid washing materialsFURNACE IN A SMALL ROOM OR CLOSETIf a furnace is installed in relatively small utility room orcloset, the installation needs openings in the walls or doorto let combustion air in. Make sure that these openingsremain unobstructed. Do not modify these openings in anyway without consulting a licensed HVAC technician.7FREQUENCYThe furnace should be inspected annually by a licensedHVAC technician. T able 1 (page 8) contains suggestedinspections and frequency of maintenance.VENTING SYSTEM• Existing masonry chimneys should be inspected andrelined if necessary. Vent pipe must slope upwards and be physically sound without holes or corrosion.Any corroded section of vent pipe must be replaced, and any obstruction or blockage must be removed bya licensed HVAC technician.• Flue passageways, the vent system, and the burnersshould be inspected and cleaned (if required) by a licensed HVAC technician annually to ensure continuedsafe operation.BLOWER AND FILTERIt is recommended that the blower compartment be cleaned of dirt or lint that may have accumulated in thecompartment or on the blower and motor as part of theannual inspection.AIR FOR COMBUSTION• For proper and safe operation, the furnace needs air forcombustion and ventilation. Do Not block or obstructair openings on the furnace, or any air openings where the furnace may be installed, including any surrounding spaces.• Direct vent furnaces pull combustion air from theoutdoors and vent combustion products back outside. Combustion air coming from the outside needs to be clean of chemicals that can cause corrosion, such as pool chlorinating products.AIR FOR COMFORT• Keep air fi lters cleaned. It is recommended that thefurnace air fi lter be checked at least once a month.Clean or replace fi lter to maintain proper airfl ow and achieve maximum effi ciency .• Furniture and drapery should be arranged so thatthe supply air registers and return grilles are not obstructed.Figure 2. 操作CH(集中供暖)或DHW(生活用水)水泵保证水的循环。
