1.0 SCOPE

This calculation is mainly calculated the wall thickness for piping class which specified in MD(DD)-SPC-DPP(MDR)-PI-0002 Specification for Piping Material.

The wall thickness for materials exclude of ASME B31.3 not in this calculation.

2.0 APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS

2.2 THE FOLLOWING PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS APPLY TO THIS SPECIFICATION:

MD(DD)-SPC-DPP(MDR)-PI-0002 Specification for Piping Material

The contents in this calculation shall be supplementary with that in the Specification for Piping Material each other. If any conflict occurred between these specifications and codes & standards, notes shall be submitted to the Client for solution. 3.0 REQUIREMENT

Wall thickness of seamless pipe and components shall have 12.5% mill tolerance. If the calculated wall thickness is less than the minimum thickness for hydrocarbon system. To maintain the mechanical strength requirement, the minimum thickness in TABLE 1must be taken.

Except special requirements, the Wall thickness is calculated by using the procedure of Sections 304 of ASME B31.3. The formula is:

S: Allowable stress for material specified in Table A-1 of ASME B31.3

E: Quality factor defined in Table A-1A or A-1B of ASME B31.3

W: Weld joint strength reduction factor per Para. 302.3.5(e) of ASME B31.3

Y: Material coefficient from Table 304.1.1 of ASME B31.3

For L1BZ Class, wall thickness shall calculated by using the procedure of Section K304 of ASME B31.3 The formulas used are:

t min= t+ CA t= (D-2C0)[1-exp(-P/S)]/2 CA=C1+C0

Where

t min: Minimum required thickness

t: Pressure design thickness

P: Internal design gauge pressure (KPa)

D: Outside diameter of pipe (mm)

S: Allowable stress (KPa), for material specified in Appendix K-1 of ASME

B31.3

CA: The sum of the mechanical allowance (thread or groove depth) plus corrosion

and erosion allowances(where C1= the sum of internal allowances and C0= the

sum of external allowances).
