专八作文范文【篇一:专八作文范文】should a person make an important decision alone?a person should never make an important decision alone, important decisions should be well thought out. people who know you well, know what is best for you, and close to you can give you good advice, give you a different prespective, or share their own experience.when i had difficulty deciding which classes to take in collage, i talked to my teachers and advisors, they had the knowledge and expertise to help me determine which classes were the best ones to take for my future career. without their advice, i might have chosen unsuitable courses. in collage, i had convinced myself that i was not good enough to act in the school play. therefore, i decided not to audition even though drama had always been my passion. the day of the auditon, a friend of mine asked me why i was not auditioning. when i told her i did not feel i was good enough, she was shocked, she was able to provide me with another perspectiove on myself and my talents. i rethought my decision and tried out….and got a lead in the play.last year when i was trying to decide whether or not i should study overseas, i talked to my friend. this was the best thing i could have done. this was a big decisition for me because i had never been overseas on my own and i was not sure if i could do it. she had studied overseas the precious year. she told me about the challenges and opportunities i might encourter and helped me make the right decision. i went and it was amazing.whenever i am faced with an important decision, i seek advice from others so that i am well-informed and have the benefit of their perspectiove and experience.my opnion on advertisementadvertisements appear everywhere in modern society. there are many way to advertise and ads come in different forms. newspapers and billboards carry advertisements; some products are announced on tv and radio which have a wideaudience. advertising is a big industry and many agencies are set up for furnish a variety of services for it.however, advertising is not welcome sometimes. a most irritating thing is to watch advertisements before and during films on tv. there are so many of them that they make you forget what you are sitting there for. the ironical thing is that advertisements of one type of things are often shown one after another so that you are confused as to which product you should choose. what’s more, advertising is not always truthful. the advertisers exaggerate the benefits of the merchandise they want to sell in order to gain more profits. thus the consumer falls victim to such advertising.although there are disadvantages of ads, we can not forget the advantages and the conveniences they bring to us. first, by telling us where something is available, they may save us money and time. they guide us in finding suitable jobs and other information as well. secondly, a wide range of activities and institutions receive finanical support through advertising. without this support we would have to pay much more for newspaters and sports games. thirdly, perfect advertisements even provide entertainment. a considerable amount of effort goes into their production. so in most cases the photography is truly artistic, the slogans are genuinely witty, and the situations are decidely funny.generally speaking, advertisements have become one of the most authoritative voices speaking to us today. let us make our life easier by learning to choose proper ads, and be the master of advertisements, not their salve.【篇二:专八历年作文范文】2016challenge or notrecently, the ice bucket challenge has gone viral all over the world, particularly in the united states, with people posting videos of themselves online and on tv participating in the event. despite the increase of the donation to fight als and more public concern, some are worried about the problems found with this kind of activities. what i have seen is that they have been inserted a sense of entertainment. personally, i propose that charitable activities, if inserted with too muchentertaining elements, will probably depart from their original intentions.this charitable blockbuster, luring hundreds of celebrities, politicians and athletes, has sparked millions of donations to als research and raised awareness of the disease. however, there are worries and different voices towards it. environmentalists are concerned about the waste of water on the national level, while doctors warn people of the risks of being poured by icy water from the perspective of health.on the one hand, we have observed that the als ice bucket challenge has rubbed some people the wrong way, especially as participants get caught up in the act of making videos rather than focusing on the essence of the charity itself. it is said that when barack hussein obama took the challenge, the current american president chose to make a donation of 100 dollars rather than pouring the icy water over his head. on the other hand, the original purpose of this activity is to provide aid and support for patients suffering from the disease. accordingly, what we should focus on is whether the als association begins immediate funding for families in desperate need of home health care services and other care-related services.as a matter of fact, after a month in the spotlight, the much-hyped als ice bucket challenge is finally starting to show signs of cooling down. most things in moderation are healthy and lasting, and charitable activities are no different. we should always bear the core of charity in mind: being a dutiful citizen. 2015my views on the sharing economythe sharing economy has been a new trend in economic activities.many people benefit a lot through it while different people hold different opinions toward the new topic.on my personal note, with the development of the modern society and economy, the sharing economy plays an important part nowadays.my reasons are as follows.first of all,it helps people make good use of resources.as we all know, the owners can share their available bargains with people who need for free or rent their unusedthings to one another.it can make sure that many things can be used for as many times as possible instead of being abandoned in the corner.secondly,as the old saying goes:the roses in her hand, the flavor in mine.the sharing economy is just like the rose,it is the bridge between owners and recipients and offers a brand new way to help others and the owners will receive happiness at the same time.when one release the note that he need a place to stay for some time, the one who can offer him will contact him and they both can get what they want.last but not least, people can make more friends throughthis.by chatting or negotiating online, two strangers can become familiar with each other and make meaningful connections.for example,if you plan to travel and you find the man who are willing to offer you a place to stay, you will share your journey with him orher, then you may find you two have similar outlooks on life or other similarities.you may even keep in touch with each other for a long time after the bargain.in summary,as the times magazine comments, the sharing economy is becoming one of 10 ideas that change the world.it brings much convenience in our daily life.from my point of view,we can take an active part in the sharing economy and take full advantage of it.my views on the sharing economythe sharing economy refers to the economic pattern in which people share access to resources, such as goods, services and data. this newly emerging trend would be impossible without the development of technology. it is the internet that makes the sharing cheaper and easier and helps to strike a balance between supply and demand. time magazine has listed the sharing economy as one of the “10 ideas that will change the world”. as far as the comment is concerned, i cannot agree with time more.as one of the greatest benefits of the digital age, the sharing economy arises from our oldest instinct as human beings. there is always an urge for us to connect with others, especially in an era when families are scattered and we do not really know the people who live nearby. it has been said that “joys shared with others are more enjoyed.” however, in myeyes, the resources shared with others are more beneficial to our society.on the one hand, sharing economy leads to a more efficient use of resources. some items are expensive to buy but widely owned by people who do not make the best use of them. occasional sharing may provide extra income for the owners and can be less costly for the borrowers. if managed well, a win-win situation is achieved for both parties in the process. besides, sharing economy contributes to environmental protection. take accommodation for example. the more hotels are built, the more resources are required, which might in turn result in a decrease in arable land and public green space. on the other hand, the transaction cost is reduced due to the use of internet and various apps. with a smart phone in your hand, it is not difficult to find a potential host in the neighboring area. people are meeting increasingly on screens, discussing online and purchasing goods domestic and overseas, paying through internet payment system.to summarize, although the sharing economy is not perfect at present because of concerns ininsurance, legal liability, safety and the like, i believe, quite firmly, that it represents the future trend and has the power to change the world for the convenience and flexibility it brings to us. just as the old chinese saying goes, the defects cannot obscure the virtues of a splendid jade, and i assume it also applies to the sharing economy.2014 my views on working from homenowadays, more and more companies have work-from-home or remote working polices, which means that their employees do not have to commute to work every day. as a result, some people think that this can save employees time, in which employees are allowed to arrange their life freely, thus raising their productivity. however, others argue that only in the work places can employees communicate face to face, which vastly increase the efficiency of coordination and cooperation. so whether employees should work on their home or work on the companies, which caused a heated disscussion in society. however, in my opinion, it is better for employees work on their companies than in their homes.we cant deny the fact that employees cant concentrate much of their attention on the works if they work in home. because there are so many tempts arounding them, for example, theircomputers, televisions, recreational facilities, and so on. once they are working in the homes, it is likely that the companys disciplines will be ignored. however, working in the company, the employees will put all their enegetic into their works. because compared with their home, company is a formal occasion, to which employees dare not despised.as long as we can see, working in home, the employees are nearly isolated from the society, which is not beneficial to their works. a person, who cut off the link with the outworld, will be fall behind, and being abandoned by the world.however, working in company, the employees will get another result, whih will be satisfactorily. as the old saying goes, the crowd pick up firewood making high fire. it is no doubt that working in the company, the employees cancommunicate face to face , in which they can get better solidarity and collaboration and get twice the result with half the effort.above what we have discussed, it is easy for uc come into a conclusion that working in company can gain more benifits than working in home. as a result, we should not promote employees work from home. as a employee, they should work in company consciously.2013is a sound social environment necessary for people to be good to others?for thousands of years in china, helping others has been a virtue in traditional chinese culture.but nowadays, the virtue seems no longer exist, for many people dare not offer help to those in need, for fear of getting into trouble. this issue has been a hot topic in the news, and the public is in a high fever to discuss this moral problem. some people think that helping others is a virtue in china, we should proud of it and carry forward this culture, or it will lead to a moray degeneration. while the rest of them think helping others many get lots of unnecessary troubles which is wasting their time and money, in some situation, they may go into jail. in my point of view, people should be good to others.there is no doubt that some tragic event was a trap by some bad people for blackmail money. the most common case is that an old lady or man was lying on the ground and claiming someone was knocked them down, then their children will ask the warm-hearted “evil man” for a pretty penny. i heard a case that a young man helps an old lady who was hit by a car, but the old lady insisted that the young man was the one who hit her. the innocent man has not proved that he is not the criminal so he lost the lawsuit, he has no choice but accept the verdict. then the poor guy commits a suicide because he has no money for compensation. this famous case has aroused public debate over the climate of morality and credibility, and many people sigh over the moral degeneration. this case like an alarm to that kind, warm-hearted and helpful people, they wanted to give a hand but fare of getting into trouble.as the saying goes: one good turn deserves another. helping other is a positive energy which deserved to be carrying forward. since every one of us is a component of the society, it is each individual’s conducts that form soc ial morality. i believe positive emotions can be infected, once people see the others are offering help, they might get a big chance of willing to help others. just put yourself in other’s position, if it is you who need help, what would you feel if everyone watches indifferently or suspiciously, some even just standing and taking pictures then upload? be good to others, no only one day you might need help, but also helping others will make you feel happy and feel better about life.in sum, i contend the idea that social environment is necessary for people to be good to others, and people should take the responsibility to offer help to those in need, then we build up a more harmonious society.【篇三:英语专业八级历年作文范文专八历年作文题目及范文】should 专八英语作文范文(20篇)
Some people are committed to their dreams and work hard to achieve their goals. What is guiding them is a kind of illusion. Some people think that illusion is good for success while others argue that it is not so good because it may get people unrealistic. As far as I am concerned, illusion is necessary in our life only if it is encouraging and realistic. There are several reasons.First of all, there is power in illusion. The illusion can lead people to the path they want to go on and it gives us passion. We need to live each moment wholeheartedly, with all our senses so that we can find pleasure in the fragrance of backyard garden, the crayoned picture of a six-year-old,and the enchanting beauty of a rainbow. The illusion can be enthusiastic love of life that puts sparkle in our eyes,a lilt in our steps and smoothes the wrinkles from our souls.Secondly,we are born with wide-eyed,enthusiastic wonder as anyone knows who has ever seen an infant’s delight at the jingle of keys or the scurrying of a beetle. It is this childlike wonder and illusion that gives enthusiastic people such a youthful air,no matter how old they are.For example, the famous cellist Pablo Casals would start his day by playing Bach. Music, for him,was an elixir that made life a never-ending adventure. As author and poet Samuel once wrote,“Years wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul.” Lastly, people with illusions also love what they do,regardless of money or power or title. If we cannot do what we love as a full-time career,we can as do a part-time vocation, like the head of state who paints, the nun who runs marathons and the executive who handcrafts furniture. We cannot afford to waste tears and energy and time on “might-have-beens”.We need to turn the tears into sweat as we go after “what-can-be”.To sum up,God gives each bird its food, but he does not throw it into its nest.Wherever you want to go,just cherish your precious illusion and let your dream be realized.。

1Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Universities should give the same amount of money to their students' sports activities as they give to their university libraries. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.I disagree strongly with the idea that the same amount of money should go to university sports activities as to university libraries. Although playing sports is a wonderful way to learn about teamwork, strategy and reaching your goals, it should not be the principal focus of a university education.Students need the most up-to-date library facilities available to get the best education. Many of those facilities are very expensive to buy and maintain. These include computerized programs and access to internet research databases that students can use to find information all around the world. If a university is only offering its students resources of a decade ago, it’s depriving those students of a tremendous amount of information.Even the book and magazine budget of universities has gone up tremendously in last decade. More is being published on every subject, and every university wants to have this information available to its students. It also costs money for universities to keep their librariesopen. Students need to have access to all the libraries' research tools as much of time as possible. Because students are young and can stay up all night studying, many universities are starting to leave their libraries open all night during exam periods. This costs money, because the staff has to be paid extra to be there. It also costs money to run the building (electricity, heat) during that time.Students at universities are only going to benefit from their education if they can get to all the tools they need to learn. Sports are secondary to the resources that students need from university libraries. For this reason, libraries should always be better funded than sport activities. 2"When people succeed, it is because of hard work, Luck has nothing to do with success." Do you agree or disagree with the quotation above? Use specific and examples to explain your position. When people succeed, it is because of hard work, but luck has a lot to do with it,too. Success without some luck is almost impossible. The French emperor Napoleon said of one of his generals, “I know he’s good. But is he lucky?” Napoleon knew that all the hard work and talent in the world can’t make up for bad luck. However, hard work can invite good luck. When it comes to success, luck can mean being in the right place to meet someone, or having the right skills to get a job done. It might mean turning down an offer and then having a better offer come along. Nothing can replace hard work, but working hard also means you’re preparing yourself opportunity. Opportunity very often depends on luck. How many of the great inventions and discoveries cameabout through a lucky mistake or a lucky chance? One of the biggest lucky mistakes in history is Columbus’ so-called discovery of America. He enriched his sponsors and changed history, but he was really loo king for India. However, Columbus’ chance discovery wasn’t pure luck. It was backed up by years of studying and calculating. He worked hard to prove his theory that the world was round.Success that comes from pure luck and no hard work can be a real problem. For example, consider a teenage girl who becomes a movie star.Imagine she’s been picked from nowhere because of her looks. She is going to feel very insecure, because she knows she didn’t do anything to earn her stardom. On the other hand, think about an actress who’s spend years learning and working at her craft. When she finally has good luck and becomes a success, she will handle stardom better, she knows she earns it.People who work hard help make their own luck by being ready opportunity knocks. When it comes to success. I think that hard work and luck so hand in hand. 3Some people believe that university students should be required to attend classes. Others believe that going to classes should be optional for students. Which point of view do you agree with? Use specific reasons and details to explain your answer. Some people may believe that going to classes should be optional, but I disagree. I don't understand how university students can expect to learn anything if they don't attend classes. Personal experience can help people learn about themselves and the world outside the classroom, but when it comes to learningabout academic subjects, students need to be in class. In class they receive the benefit of the teacher's knowledge. The best teachers do more than just go over the material in than class textbook. They draw their students into discussion of the material. They present opposing points of view. They schedule guest speakers to come, give the students additional information, or show documentary films on the subject. Also, attending classes on any subject teaches more than just facts. It teaches students how to learn, how to absorb information and then apply what they've learned to other situations. Their teacher is the best one to help them with these skills. They can't learn them just by reading the textbook.Going to class also teaches students how to work with the other members of the class. Many times students will be given group assignments. This is different from what they did in secondary school. Here they're with people from different backgrounds and experiences. In this situation, they learn how to handle working with people different from themselves to achieve a common goal. 4Going to class also teaches students responsibility and discipline. Having to be at a particular place at a particular time prepares them for getting a job. Being at a place on time with an assignment completed prepares them for a career. In short, by going to class students learn more than just information from the teacher. They also learn how to learn, how to work with others, and how to work responsibly. These are not optional skills in life, so attending classes should not be optional in college.Clear Your Mental SpaceThink about the last time you felt a negative emotion-like stress, anger, or frustration. What was going through your mind as you were going through that negativity? Was your mind cluttered with thoughts? Or was it paralyzed, unable to think? The next time you find yourself in the middle of a very stressful time, or you feel angry or frustrated, stop. Yes, that’s right, stop. Whatever you’re doing, stop and sit for one minute. While you’re sitting there, completely immerse yourself in the negative emotion.Allow that emotion to consume you. Allow yourself one minute to truly feel that emotion. Don’t cheat yourself here. Take the entire minute---but only one minute---to do nothing else but feel that emotion. When the minute is over, ask yourself, “Am I wiling to keep holding on to this negative emotion as I go through the rest of the day?”Once you’ve allowed yourself to be totally immersed in the emotion and really fell it, you will be surprised to find that the emotion clears rather quickly. If you feel you need to hold on to the emotion for a little longer, that is OK. Allow yourself another minute to feel the emotion. When you feel you’ve had enough of the emotion, ask yourself if you’re willing to carry that negativity with you for the rest of the day. If not, take a deep breath. As you exhale, release all that negativity with your breath. This exercise seems simple---almost too simple. But, it is very effective. By allowing that negative emotion the space to be truly felt, you are dealing with the emotion rather than stuffing it down and trying not to feel it. You are actually taking away the powerof the emotion by giving it the space and attention it needs. When you immerse yourself in the emotion, and realize that it is only emotion, it loses its control. You can clear your head and proceed with your task.Try it. Next time you’re in the middle of a negative emotion, give yourself the space to feel the emotion and see what happens. Keep a piece of paper with you that says the following: Stop. Immerse for one minute. Do I want to keep this negativity? Breath deep, exhale, release. Move on!This will remind you of the steps to the process. Remember; take the time you need to really immerse yourself in the emotion. Then, when you feel you’ve felt it enough, release it---really let go of it. You will be surprised at how quickly you can move on from a negative situation and get to what you really want to do! 5People have different views on what children should do at a very early age. Some think that children should begin their formal education and start to spend most of their time on studies. Others believe that it is still time for young children to play. Both views are based on respective ground. Those who argue for the playing time for children suggest that children at a very early age are still too young to focus their attention on learning. Their brain may not be ready for serious studies such as comprehension and memorizing learning materials. These people are partially right, for it is true that young children can hardly concentrate. Their attention on one thing lasts for no longer than 15 minutes or so. But we can arrange classes for shorter periods, can’t we? And we can shift teaching subjects. Through putting them tostudy, young children are occupied with learning but not with playing. Those who argue for children’s early commencement for formal education believe that being put to studies, children can develop good habit of studying, for the process of learning helps develop children’s mental abilities like the ability to memorize, the ability to understand and the ability to do simple calculation. Children’s habit of studying and love for learning are of great importance to youngsters because these two things set up the sound foundation for their future studies.Having children start formal education at a very early age benefits young children much more than simply letting them play most of their time. A good habit needs a long time to develop to become a second nature. More importantly, it is better to develop a good habit before a bad one may grow. Similarly, the love for learning should take roots before the love for playing is established. 6"Hello Donat, two big events happened this week. Thank you. Hello everyone. Two big events happened this week. Our classmate Li Jia, with the help of her teacher, was trying to practice her oral English on Wednesday afternoon. She won the first prize in the English speech contest. How exciting it is that we should learn from her. 英语专业八级作文优秀欣赏篇1The mindset of sacrifice is seen as an important part of the Chinese nation’s traditional virtues. Chinese often regard those as heroes who volunteer to offer assistance in times of crisis. Even children and youngsters in primary and middle schools are taught to learn from this kind of heroes and do something alike when confronting a similar circumstance. However, I hold an opposite view on this issue.Firstly, the new concepts of self-protection will not challenge or weaken the traditional Chinese virtue of justice and courage. On the contrary, it will be carried toward In a scientific and rational way. For instance, if primary students see a robbery on their way to school, they are advised to remember the traits of suspects and report the case to school and public security authorities. For high school students, they should report it first, and at the same time take some adequate actions to fight against criminals on the premise of fully guaranteeing their own safety. That is a positive and flexible measure to strengthen the self-protection awareness of students under the age of 18 for whom safety should be the first consideration. Given their physical strength and relevant training, it is not wise for them to stand upfor justice at the risk of endangering their own lives.Furthermore, full respect for one’s lives represents social progress. In the past, the government stressed that all efforts should be made to protect public interests regardless of the cost, but today prior ity is given to individual’s personal safety. And the new concepts actually require adults and teachers to enhance students’ awareness of safety and teach them the value of life. When they know they can not bring the suspect into control, they are advised to seek help instead of acting boldly and bluntly. Certainly we do not want our youngsters to become cowards, but we do want them to be wise.An old saying goes that a wise man cuts the coat according to the cloth he has. We should emphasize that acts are to be taken in conformity with one’s specific circumstance. And youngsters are not advised to take the challenge and risk beyond their limitation, for they represent the future of our nation.英语专业八级作文优秀欣赏篇2With the development of globalization, there are an increasing number of scholars these days who hold the opinion that we need a common language to be spoken by all the people in the world. However, other scholars are afraid that this will weaken other languages and cultures at the same time. As for me, I am not in favor of the viewpoint that one language should replace others as the universal one.Nowadays it is universally acknowledged that language is not only a tool of communication but also a kind of art. Each language, no matter what kind of language it is, has its unique pronunciation, grammar and expressions, which contribute to the diversity of the world. Therefore, if the diverse languages are diminished, our world will become less colorful. We can say that language is part of culture, and plays a considerably important role in culture. Indeed, some social scientists consider it the keystone of culture. Without language, so the argument goes, culture would not be possible. On the other hand, language is influenced and shaped by culture; it reflects culture. In the broadest sense, language is the symbolic representation of a people, and it comprises their historical and cultural backgrounds as well as their approach to life and their ways of living and thinking. Cultures differ from one another, and each culture is unique. There is no denying that it will be a disaster for us to see the world's diverse cultures disappear one by one. When all the factors are examined, we may safely come to the conclusion that although we are convinced that, no matter what our career choice is, a command of foreign languages is an important skill to acquire, yet we should protect our own language, the carrier of our culture.英语专业八级作文优秀欣赏篇3Faced with the question whether it is worthwhile to spend a year or two voluntee ??ring in western China, many college students would probably shake their heads, seeing it as a waste of valuable learning time. However,I will give an affirmative answer without hesitation, because this experience can apparently benefit us in many ways.First, it is a great opportunity for us to apply the knowledge we have acquired at college. Different from temporary part-time jobs, a longer volunteer work experience is truly fulfilling and rewarding. As English majors, we can learn to use and teach the language effectively in real classes; as education majors, we can experiment with those textbook theories in helping manage aschool or instruct the younger; those who study engineering can take this chance to turn their ideas and skills into running machines, new bridges and broad roads. From this experience,we will better understand our schoolwork and even build up considerable expertise in our chosen fields.Second, we can gain a great sense of satisfaction by making contributions in an underdeveloped region. Right now,the western China is suffering from both the short ??age of resources and that of talents in its course of development. If we can step into the needed roles by simply sacrificing a year or two,we will be able to make some differ??ence to the situation as a whole. Imagine how proud you will be when telling your fami??ly and friends how you have taught the illiterate to read, and how you have helped to change the look of a backward town. Compared with the great sense of pride you feel, a year‘s time is just a small price to pay.Third,we can establish a deep friendship with local people. On the one hand, if you truly love and help the people you work with, they naturally love and help you back. Take a senior I know for example, who served two months as a teacher in a dry northwestern town. During the period of water shortage, both his students and their parents voluntarily kept water for him, sometimes despite their own need. Recalling his days there, he said they were not easy but he could not help missing them. Probably many volunteers would feel the same as him. While we are giving care, support and help,we often get back more including a lasting friendship. Therefore,I will readily sign up to volunteer in the western China despite various challenges I may meet. Think of the differences we can make there and the changes this experiencecan make to us, why not walk out of the ivory tower and step onto the promising land of our country?英语专业八级作文优秀欣赏篇4Help my mom with the the housework Last Sunday ,I helped my mom do the housework . Some insiders hold that following global trends is the only way to develop China’s film industry. Others insist, however, that the Oscars are simply one the many awards that Americans like to crown themselves. Domestic films should maintain their distinct flavors. As a movie fan myself, I think we should strive for it to gain international recognition.Firstly, the Oscars Award is an international recognition in terms of both artistic performance and box office revenue. Withlive broadcast in 50 languages, it plays a huge role in shaping the global film industry. It is no wonder that so many people around the world pay much attention to it. The reality is that Hollywood movies account for more than 90 percent of global market shares-this has inevitable worldwide impact. Obviously, the Oscars Award has bee something that we can not afford to ignore it.Moreover, we live in a global, multicultural world where different cultures interact. China’s movie industry needs to realize it and sharpen its petitive edge. If Chinese films are to make a global impact, then movie production, distribution and marketing organization need improving. Chinese films should adjust to satisfy the variety of social demands. The introduction of foreign successful formulas and technology is a must for Chinese film industry. It is parochial to think that China can only use its national characteristics to define domestic movies. Conservatism will hinder the progress of film industry. If China does not develop its film industry through embracing innovative multiculturalism, Chinese movies will have little opportunity to gain a share in the international market.Last but not least, the Hollywood films also conform to specific cultural demands. Take this year’s Academy Awards as an example, nominated movies include both high-cost productions like The Lord of the Rings and subtle, more moderate budgeted projects like Lost in Translation, these films suggest that Hollywood movies maintain a basic balance in keeping the style of its own and absorbing diverse cultures. Hence, the Chinese filmmakers should spare no efforts to present original domestic films to foreign viewers. We will be left behind if we stick to the so-called orthodox. For instance, Couching TigerHidden Dragon was acted by Chinese actors and through cultural icons, but actually its style and structure of the movie all conform to a Hollywood formula. This partly explains why it appeals to a wider range of audiences from different cultural background. In a word, the Oscars are very important to Chinese filmmakers. Nominations are a kind of approval by international peers of their achievements. As China’s market improves, its movie industry will get stronger and will eventually cash in on the Oscars.英语专业八级作文优秀欣赏篇6As economic globalization accelerates, language plays a vital role in cross-boundary communication. An international language like English is inevitably popular among language learners all over the world. And there is a widespread concern whether or not to go abroad for one's English study. To me the answer is undoubtedly a yes, since it provides a chance not only to learn the language, but also to understand the culture.First of all, going to an English-speaking country is a better way to create an ideal language-learning environment. As it is said, when in Rome, do as Romans do. Thus it can be inferred that a better way to learn how Romans behave is to go to Rome and observe their way of life. It is also true with English study. In an English-speaking country, one is likely to be exposed to more chances to communicate with native speakers rather than being confined to book knowledge only. On his stay in London, a student will have a taste of royal English himself, thus it is easier for him to improve his pronunciation and intonation through imitation. Surrounded by native speakers, a language learner will also find it very helpful in improving other skills like speaking, reading and writing. Moreover, a student going abroad not only enhances their language proficiency but also comes into direct interplay with a new culture, which is an integral part of language study. Some linguists maintain that one cannot fully grasp a language unless he knows about the culture profoundly, for language is only a medium to conduct communication. Thus living with English-speaking people, one can obtain a vivid first-hand understanding of some idioms, slang and the cultural background And this personal experience will be very difficult to achieve-whatever abundant study resources can be accessed to domestically. By chatting with native speakers in daily life, students can gain an insight in the culture.Judging from all the analysis above, we may safely come to such a conclusion that going to an English-speaking country is advantageous for English learners. A study experience abroad is such a practice to double the achievements with half the efforts. Fully utilizing the chance to get a deeper involvement in the exotic culture, students may become real masters of English.。
Along with the advance of science and technology, electronic products, such as computer, MP3,and cell phone and so on. Among them, cell phone exerts a big influence on our daily life.It has dramatically changed our way of communication and socializing. As to its virtues and defects about cell phone, peoples opinion are widely varied.Recently, a professor named Baron conducted a survey among 2000 college students and consulted their attitudes toward cell phone. Conclusion was reached that the biggest advantage of cell phone is that it can connect the users with other people through short message, which is very convenient compared with traditional letter writing and also very cheap with the telephone call taking into consideration. As every coin has two sides, the very virtue of the cell phone is also the biggest disadvantage, which makes other people can easily fine them with a call even a phone are gradually intruding upon the private space of people. For the most part, I agree with professor Baron s conclusion. Let me first illustrate its virtues. It indeed save much time and efforts when we want to find a helping hand.It also shortens the distance between people,no matter how far two people are, they can easily get in touch with each other through a call and tell each other about what funny or sad things they come upon. The most obvious advantage of short message is that it makes people familiar and intimate. Sometimes ,people feel awkward to say something to others through face to face communication or making a phone call, the short message come to rescue, all the discomfort will be diminished for the messages covering the emotional effect. Messages are very popular and prevailing when a festival or delightful event comes. People can pass their blessing and wished with decent to others, even they are just nodding acquaintances. For its defects, it is really annoying. Scan messages and harassing calls have gained access to us. We have to take time and energy to tackle these problems. And whenever we want to have a break or do some interesting things, we would be interrupted by phone calls or messages. Therefore, some people put forward their solutions that we could turn off the phone when we deem it is necessary or change the situation model of the phone to unreachable. These solutions really bring consolation to us, but they are very hard to apply. Suppose you are working for a company and yearning for promotion and increase in wages, you are hardly dare to do those things in fear a loss of big opportunity. Even if you are just an ordinary full time housewife, you are also incapable of doing that, simply because you have a large family to take care. Thus a new term was coined recently- cell phone syndrome, which refers to people can not live without cell phone. Some people even suffer from it that they have to force themselves to get away from cell phones.Though a lot of complaints about cell phone has emerged, its advantages, from my point of view, are far outweigh its disadvantages. Just as a saying goes that there is no perfect man on earth,so does cell phone. Thanks to cell phone, we are launch into a more efficient information change age. Every respect of our life are greatly benefited form it and it will uncertainly bring us to a brighter future. You know you deserve it,but when it comes to asking for a raise, you get a little weak in theknees. You can#39;t expect other people to remember your accomplishments,so you need to keep these things out front.Start by knowing your job description and the company#39;s compensation more than ever,it#39;s important to take stock of yourself because there#39;s so much change: Next, use the Internet.Knowing what other people make and where they make it will give you a leg-up in you know where you are and where other people are in terms of compensation, and then figure out what you want.It doesn#39;t have to just be for the whole package, consider other items you can negotiate-incentive compensation, stock options,an extra vacation week, personal days or education e them to offset a lower raise offer. But,first and foremost,don#39;t just go in and ask.It is your work that comes first. Summer vacation life is imminent,I booked a table, for their summer vacation life more colorful, not only a waste of time for two months.Because my parents are going to work,so I must have five days a week in class.Ann class to prepare for us to learn a lot of courses, such as English, mathematics, poetry etc,of course, let me live a very full life.Leisure entertainment,of course, not less,so we arranged the trip to taitung. At the beginning of the coast of taitung, deer farms, let me leave a good impression, especially in the mountain bike trip,I have to ride all the way,I am very admire!I made a reservation for their projects are: learn to swim, read reference books increase knowledge, exercise more, help to do the housework, learning skills, etc.,these projects are waiting for me to reach,so I need to work harder.Daily homework is a lot of,just can use summer vacation to relax the mood,do usually doesn#39;t have time to do things, let summer vacation have a more meaningful life. Some time ago, China’s Ministry of Education banned university students from renting private accommodation during their studies. To this people’s attitudes differ sharply. What do you think? Write an essay of about 400 words. In the first part of your essay you should state clearly your main argument, and in the second part you should support your argument with appropriate details. In the last part you should bring what you have written to a natural conclusion or make a summary. You should supply an appropriate title for your essay.Marks will be awarded for content, organization, grammar and appropriateness. Failure to follow the above instructions may result in a loss of marks.SampleTREAT STUDENTS AS ADULTS, NOT CHILDRENSome time ago, China’s Ministry of Education banned university students from renting private accommodation during their studies. This has given rise to a heated discussion. Some people, especially school management and most parents, embrace such a ban, while others criticize it fiercely. Personally, I am against the ban.First, most college students are adults and should enjoy the right to choose where to live. In banning off-campus housing, the education authorities seem to believe that college students, most aged 18-22, should be treated as children, rather than adults. Some administrators claimthat students lack self-control and cannot make proper decisions for themselves. This is surely not fair treatment for such a bright young generation. If these students didn’t attend colleges, but worked in companies or joined the army, they would be treated as adults.Secondly, private accommodation is indeed preferable to living on campus for many students. It is true that living on campus promotes a sense of belonging by being closely connected with other students. This could truly be a valuable part of the four-year college education. Students living on campus also have easier access to vast school resources, such as libraries, computer rooms and various evening seminars. But crowded dormitories, high noise levels, early electricity curfews and other strict codes also make dorms less attractive. At least dorms are not the right home for everyone. Off-campus housing, meanwhile, offers a greater degree of freedom. That is especially true for self-motivated students, students studying late for important tests or working late on academic projects. Many students living off-campus also share rooms. They have to negotiate contracts, pay utilities and probably cook for themselves. All help prepare students to better manage their study and life. In fact this also conforms to most schools’ creed that students should be in touch with the real world as much as possible. One of the motives for the housing ban is that education authorities hope this will help prevent students from cohabitation and having sex during school years. But since students can now legally marry in schools, why should they be banned from having sex? Reality tells us that this is wishful thinking. Banning sex among students has been and will be a mission impossible. This is probably why some schools have installed condom vending machines on campus or provide free condoms in school clinics, which tells students to have safe sex, rather than no sex.To sum up, we should treat students as adults instead of children. Though there might be problems in allowing students to leave off campus, we should not give up eating for fear of choking, as the Chinese idiom says. In today’s diversified world, schools should show respect to students in making their own choices. After all, schools are not military barracks and students are not soldiers. Nowadays, food has bee easier to prepare. Has this change improved the way people live? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. The twentieth century has brought with it many advances. With those advances, human lives have changed dramatically. In some ways life is worse, but mostly it is better. Changes in food preparation methods, for example, have improved our lives greatly. The convenience of preparing food today is amazing. Even stoves have gotten too slow for us. Microwave cooking is much easier. We can press a few buttons and a meal is pletely cooked in just a short time. People used to spend hours preparing an oven-cooked meal, and now they can use that time for other, better things. Plus, there are all kinds of portable, prepackaged foods we can buy. Heat them in the office microwave, and lunch at work is quick and easy.Food preparation today allows for more variety. With refrigerators and freezers, we can preserve a lot of different foods in our homes. Since technology makes cooking so much faster, people are willing to make several dishes for even a small meal. Parents are more likely to let children be picky, now that they can easily heat them up some prepackaged macaroni and cheese on the side. Needless to say, adults living in the same house may have very different eating habits as well. If they don’t want to cook a lot of different dishes, it’s mon now to eat out at restaurantsseveral times a week.Healthful eating is also easier than ever now. When people cook, they use new fat substitutes and cooking sprays to cut fat and calories. This reduces the risk of heart disease and high cholesterol. Additionally, we can buy fruits and vegetable fresh, frozen or canned. They are easy to prepare, so many of us eat more of those nutritious items daily. A hundred years ago, you couldn’t imagine the process of taking some frozen fruit and ice from the freezer, adding some low-fat yogurt from a plastic cup and some juice from a can in the refrigerator, and whipping up a low-fat smoothie in the blender! Our lifestyle is fast, but people still like good food. What new food preparation technology has given us is more choices. Today, we can prepare food that is more convenient, healthier, and of greater variety than ever before in history. Health is our most important possession,so we should do our best to maintain it.As we all know, good health is necessary to happiness and the contrary, people who are in poor health are often pessimistic or depressed. As a rule, bad health means misery and failure. As far as I#39;m concerned ,there are three principal suggestions for us to follow.First of all,we should adopt a scientific diet, which provides the necessities for your body. The second one is that we are supposed to persist in taking physical exercise ,especially the people working st but not least,we are supposed to stay in a cheerful mood.As for me,in order to keep fit,I force myself to keep away from the junk food although it usually tastes ,I even form good habits of doing morning exercises, listening to beautiful music and reading good books, which always cheer me up.All in all, only by carefully obeying the laws of health can we keep ourselves healthy.。

专八作文范文Topic 1 Should Traditional Chinese Etiquette[n.礼仪,礼节] Be Taught in Class?Throughout most of China’s long history, the relationships between people were based oncarefully prescribed[decided by a rule]forms of behavior, that is, etiquette.Learning and following etiquette is so importantthat people are always judged by how closelythey follow these rules of behaviors. For those who do not follow those prescribed rules of conduct, they are regarded as uncivilized barbarians[野蛮人].However,as China has been increasingly entangled[involved in a situation that is difficult to escape from] in the global village, many Chinese people, especially the young, have lost some traditions because of the influences of Western cultures.According to a famous professor, the majority of Chinese college students have not hadsystematic training on traditional Chinese etiquette. As for me, traditional etiquette should betaught in class.Firstly, if college students can receivea systematic education in traditional etiquette in class, they can get more prepared for the future. As is known, college students usually have learnt some traditional etiquettethrough daily interaction with friends and relatives, but the process is time-consuming[耗时的].They have to be sensitive enough to observe other people’s behaviorsand then know what proper behaviors in different social situations are.Sometimes the learning process is by trial and error[试错法,反复试验].They can only form right behaviorsafter breaking the rules of conductand being corrected by the costly consequence. If they have already taken a systematic etiquette course in college, they can follow proper etiquette and have a more guaranteed[if something is guaranteed, you will definitely have it] future.Secondly, as these meticulous[过度重视细节的] rules of conduct have been formedthroughout Chinese history, they are unique Chinese characteristicsand are inseparable to Chinese culture. With the advent[the coming of an important event] of globalization, western culture is so influentialthat many young people often look to Western customsand etiquette as being fashionable. For example, nowadays most young women in Chinawould like to wear western-style white dresses and veils[面纱]at wedding while traditional Chinese weddings feature red gowns[女长服,长袍] for brides and white is an absolute taboo[禁忌]. In the long term,if the trend[趋向,时尚]to adopt western etiquette can not be curbed[(curb):抑制],the Chinese generations in the future will lose their cultural identity.Furthermore, the extinction of Chinese etiquettewill be to the detriment of[harming] the diversity of global culture. To some extent, the course can serve to arouse[唤醒]college students’ cultural prideand help to preserve[保存]and further develop Chinese culture. In conclusion, taking traditional Chinese etiquette in college will not onlymake graduates more prepared for their future, but also can constitute[=be, equal]an important measure[an action, a step] for college studentsto form Chinese cultural identityand therefore to preserve Chinese traditionand further develop it.Topic 2 Are Nowadays College GraduatesNot as Competent[有能力的] as Before? As an economic rule goes, when supply outweighs[(outweigh):v.(在重量、价值或重要性上)超过] demand, the price decreases[(decrease):v.减少].The same seems true for the current situation for college graduates.Since 1999,the central government has implemented[应用的]the Grand College Enrollment[n. 计划,打算],with the total number of college graduateson the increase in the following years. But the boomed[(boom):.激增,繁荣,迅速发展] economy does not provide enough jobsfor those graduates coming out at a time.Therefore[ad.因此,所以],many people reason that college graduates are notas competent as beforefor many of them have difficulties in finding jobs. But I disagree with this conclusion.Firstly, admittedly[adv.不可否认地,诚然],there are some college graduates who are not competent, but these students can not represent all the students.Due[a.预期的;应给的] to the Grand College Enrollment Plan, more and more high school students have access[n.接近;通道,入口]to the higher education.Inevitably[ad.不可避免地], the standard has been lowered;otherwise, university can not admit so many applicants[(applicant):n. While those smart students in high schoolsare more likely to have excellent performance, other not-so-good students would have difficulties in college learning. As a result, those graduates with bad performance in college can notdemonstrate[vt.说明;论证;表露]the value of higher learning to the societyand hence[ad.因此,所以;今后]they gradually form the incompetent image of college graduates.Secondly, those who hold this negative opiniondo not take the social context[n.(事或人物等的)来龙去脉,背景] into consideration. As is known,in the period when China carried out planned economic policies, college graduates did not need toworry about their jobs, for “iron-bowls” waited for them after graduation. But after the reform of higher education, college graduates have to find jobs for themselves. When hundreds of thousands of graduates competefor a limited number of job vacancies[空缺额],there are inevitably many who can not procure[vt. Besides,employment[n.就业] is always influenced byglobal and national economy. When economy slows down, the corporate[n.公司的]world would not recruit[v.征募] as many employees as before. For example, in 2009, many college graduates, from both prestigious[adj.有声望的] universities and less-known universities, have difficulties in hunting jobs.In this sense,it is not college graduates that are incompetent, instead, it is the social context that is unfavorable[adj. As factors combine to lead to a result, one can not simply reach conclusions withouttaking various factors into account.Otherwise[ad.另外;在其他方面], one would make reductionist mistakes. In this case, those who think college students are notas competent as before have made this kind of mistake. They just attribute[v. 结果]college graduates’ difficulties in finding jobs to their incompetence, without exploring the social and economic situations.Topic 3 Is It Meaningful[adj.有意义的]to Receive College Education[n.教育;教育学]?Given the fact that many college studentshave difficulties in finding jobs in the recent, thousands of high school students are reportedto refuse to take the National CollegeEntrance Examination[n.检查;考试].The news seems so convincing[(convince):vt.使确信,使信服] that many students, their parents, and the society reach the conclusionthat receiving college education is a waste of time and money.Undoubtedly[adv.毫无疑问地], these students can earn[vt.赚得,挣得;获得]some money working in big citiesor running their own business in the near future. However, I am of opinion that this view is myopic[a.近视的],which is to the detriment of personal developmentand China’s overall[n.工装裤 a.全面的]growth in the long term.Firstly, in terms of personal development, university is not a vocational[a.职业的] training center despite the factthat a university diploma[n.毕业文凭,毕业证书] indicates graduatesare more likely to find decent[adj.合适的] jobs. Instead, universityis a place for personal cultivation[n.培养] and improvement. In universities, students will learn to find their real interests, perfect their personality, and form right outlooks toward the world.Furthermore, students will learn to gather, analyze, and evaluate[v.评价,估计] informationso that they can resolve[vt. 决心] problems in their lives. For those who are suspicious[adj.怀疑的]of the value of higher learning,to some extent, they can be regarded as plutolatry[财富崇拜,拜金主义].They worship[n. 崇拜] money and believethat money is everything in their lives.Secondly, in terms of national growth, the advancement of a nation[n.民族,国家] is characterizedby its greatness of high education. In this sense, universities are the centers of researchand academic exploration. Take theUnited[adj. Among the top 100 universities in the world, the majority of them are located in the United States. The advancement of US high education is indicative[adj.表示的,暗示的] ofthe fact that those universities produce the most Nobel[n.诺贝尔]Prize laureates[(laureate):a.戴桂冠的,用月桂树造的,荣誉的]in comparison with other countries.American universities also turn out to be a magnet[n.磁铁,磁石,磁体]for most smart students around the world. Those universities contribute[v.导致]tremendous share to the US’ growththrough scientific and technological[a.技术的] support. In China,if the belief that receiving college education is a waste of timeand money can not be corrected in time,it is inevitable[a.不可避免的,必然的]that China can only reap[v. 短期的] GDP growthbut will be deprived[(deprive):v.剥夺]ofopportunity tobecome a competitive[adj.竞争的,比赛的] international players in the long run,for the human resource will be drained[(drain):vt. In sum, receiving college education will benefit both individual and the country.Indicative of the dire[adj.可怕的;悲惨的]job marketfor college graduates is not the uselessness of college education.Instead, college education means we should study harderto make a full preparation for the future.Topic 4 Can College Village Heads Plan Really Help?Due to the Grand College Enrollment Plan, the number of university graduateshas been on the increasesince the central government started implementing[实现] the plan.Though the plan helps improve our national quality,it creates pressure for the job markets. With so many college students coming out at a time, many graduates have difficulties in finding suitablejobs. In order to create more jobs, the government encourages college graduatesto work in villages of 28 provinces and regions[(region):n.地区,地带;领域] with a view that rural[a.农村的,田园的]administration will be strengthened[(strengthen):v.加强,巩固;变强,实力增强] at the same time.As a result, tens of thousands college graduates have been appointed[(appoint):vt.任命,委任;约定]as village officialsin the rural areas. It appears that this plan helps alleviate[v.减轻,缓解,缓和] the pressurecaused by graduate[n.毕业生 vi.大学毕业] employment, but I do not think the plan will work in the long run.Firstly, after serving as village officials in the rural areas for two years, the majority of those college village officials will start tolook for jobs in the job market again, aggravating[(aggravate):v.加剧,加重] the pressure of the job market. Some may argue that the number of those village officialswho enter the job market again is balancedby the number of new college graduateswho would be appointed as village officials. The truth is that while those students havespent two years in the rural areas, they do not gain enough experience in the corporate worldand are likely to forget what they have learnt in college. In this sense, they are not guaranteed tofind decent jobs again.Besides, when working in the rural areas, these students with higher degrees are respectedby village people, and are likely to get accustomed tofeeling superior[adj.优良的,较好的]to people around them. One can imaginethey would probably be frustrated when they work withthose who hold the same college degrees or even higher degrees.Secondly, when the supply of college graduates and the demandof our society are unbalanced[a.不平衡的],the imbalance[n.不平衡,不均衡]can be obtained by increasing available jobsor decreasing[(decrease):v.减少]the supply ofcollege graduates, which means the reduction[n.减少,降低]of college enrollment.Given the fact that the economy slows down in the recent,it is difficult to create more jobs. While offering good terms for graduates suchas well-paid salary and residential[adj. 保证,担保],the government can create more jobs in the short term, but does not provide long-term[adj.长期的] remedy[n.治疗措施,补救办法].In this sense, the plan does not solve[vt.解答,解释,解决]the fundamental imbalancebetween the supply and the demand of college graduates. In sum,the plan to encourage college graduates to work in the rural areascan only provide a temporary[a.暂时的,临时的] remedy for the job market.I think the government shouldrecognize the fundamental imbalanceand find the way back to elite[a. Topic 5 Should College Education Be V ocation-Oriented?Due to the increased enrollment of college students in recent years, the total number of graduates coming out at the same timeis such that many college graduates have difficultiesin procuring[(procure):vt.获得,取得,促成] jobs, especially when the economy is suffering slowdown[n.降低速度,减速].And then many scholars suggestthat colleges should lay emphasis on vocational trainingby setting relative courses in the college curriculum[n.课程]so that graduates are more likely to be employed. Taking the employers’ requirement[n.要求]into consideration, that is, working experience, the suggestion seems reasonable. However,I think, even if universities become vocation-oriented,it can not serve well for the employment. Besides, the vocational orientation[n.向东;定位;方向] will do harm to the higher education.Firstly, the suggestion seems to be based onthe fact that new college graduates may have learned mountains of theories but lack practical abilities. In accord with this suggestion,if college students have received enough vocational trainingand gained experience in internship[n.实习生身份],they are likely to get employed.Admittedly,self-improvement[n.自我改造]is crucial[adj.至关重要的] for new graduates to hunt jobs. But the suggestion does not take into account job vacancies in the present.Though China’s economy keeps growingat a rate of about 9% in the recentand the number of jobs does increase, too many graduates coming out at a timewill create great pressure for the job market. As an official stated,“the grand college enrollment plan isone of the main reasons for the current unemployment[n.失业,失业人数] i ssue”. Therefore, even if college students have enough experience and skills, will they succeed in procuring jobswhen there are no positions available at all?Secondly, vocational orientation is to the detriment of the higher learning in the long term.Let us begin with the difference in goals between university and vocational training. As college students may decide to finish his studies after graduation or may continue at a higher level, university courses should thus provideboth basic knowledge and a sound basis for further studies. In vocational training, the goals of a given course are distinct, that is, the course is designed to teach trainees[(trainee):n. In consequence,if universities are vocation-oriented,students at college can not get prepared in classfor a higher level of learning. Predictably[ad.可预言地],the pyramid[n.金字塔]of higher learning will crumble[v.弄碎,崩毁]if universities can not produce enough qualified students. In conclusion,vocation-orientation may help improve graduates’ skillsbut it can not increase the number of available positions. The suggestion just offers a wrong remedy, and will do harm to the higher learning.Topic 6 On Following SuitAs people respond to incentives[(incentive):n.刺激,鼓励],they will change their behaviorsif they perceive[vt.察觉,发觉;理解] that costs or benefits change. This principle seems to find wide applicationin our daily lives. When college graduates learn that receiving a master degree will give theman upper hand in the job market, many decide to take part in post-graduate entrance examinations. In China, it is regarded as following suit.Though we admire those who pride themselveson sticking to their ideals and principles, odds may not be against those who follow suit. Generally[ad.一般地;通常地] speaking, there are both advantages and disadvantages of following suit.Firstly, following suit is indicative of the factthat followers have no indispensable[a.必不可少的,必需的] beliefsor fixed principlesand hence they are flexible[adj.能随机应变的,有灵活性的]in the vicissitudes[(vicissitude):n. When the social context changes and opportunitiesarise[vi. 引起],those followers are the first to respond and make decisions.Take the English training service for example. In early 1990s,increasing number of college graduates decided to study overseasand hence English training service was in large demand.Given that forerunners[(forerunner):n.先驱;前兆] had make a fortuneby providing training programs to those graduates, many businessmen just followed suitand established several training schools. Undoubtedly, those who followed suitwhen the market did not reach saturation[n.饱和(状态);浸透] did make money.Secondly,it is noteworthy[a.值得注目的,显著的]that following suit can avoid making mistakes. For those forerunners, there is no previous[a. 在前] information at their hand, and therefore,it will take a long time to learn and improve by trial and error.During the period of trial and error, forerunners will encounter[v.遇到 n.相见,相遇] unexpected difficulties and pressures. As a result, when those become successful in certain domains[(Domain):n.领土,领域],they have proved that the path will lead to success, providing both pros and cons[(con):n.反对的理由、论点或立场].On the contrary[a.相反的 n.相反],followers need not experience the process of trial and error. They can just imitate[vt.模仿,仿效;仿制]their forerunners’ proven pattern of behaviorsand have easier access to success. There are also some disadvantages of following suit. When there are so many followers, the world will become crowdedand odds are against those later followers. Furthermore, following suit prevents innovation[n.新方法,新办法,革新] and creation, which is to the detriment of our society. However, whether one should follow suit ornot is not simply a to-be-or-not-to-be question.A basic assumption[n.假定,设想]of individual person is that everyone is rational[a.理性的;出于理性的].So one should carefully calculate costsand benefits in specific circumstancesbefore they decide to follow suit or not.Topic 7 Should Chinese Language CourseBe Adopted[(adopt):v.采纳,采取]in College Curricula[n.课程]?The moment I saw the topic,a post originally submitted[(submit):vt.使服从 vi.服从]in Peking[n.北京]University BBS[布告栏系统] occurred to me.The post composed[(compose):vt.组成,构成;创作] of a conversationbetween a Chinese young man, the author, and a waiter coming from Japan. The author suffered frustrationwhen the waiter asked him about Chinese culture. Surprisingly[ad.令人惊讶地], the Japanese demonstrated[(demonstrate):vt.说明;论证;表露] thathe got command of more Chinese culturethan most Chinese young people.I do not know what your initial[a.最初的;词首的] response is supposingthat you were set in the circumstance. As a matter of fact,Chinese language course has drawn scant[adj.不足的,欠缺的] attentionamong college students, for many students lay their emphasis on English learning.I am of opinion thatChinese language course should be setin the category[n.种类,类别]of compulsory[a. Firstly, it is high time for college studentsto re-learn Chinese language. For many Chinese students, they just learn Chinese languagefor examinations’ sake[n.缘故,理由]in elementary[a. In other words, many learn Chinese language to get high scores instead of grasping[(grasp):vt. 抓] the essence[n.要素,实质] of Chinese culture. In fact, we can not measure one’s understanding of culture by how many scoreshe get in the examinations orhow many poems and essays he has memorized. What matters is whether one can figure outthe gist[n. 使便利,使(更)容易] his lifethrough what he gains from the learning. In college, students are not imposed[(impose):vt.把…强加;征(税)]as much pressure as in high schoolin learning Chinese language.Besides, they are more mature[a.成熟的 vt.使成熟] than in childhoodand have the ability to think critically. If they do not seize the chanceto re-learn the Chinese language, odds are that they can not inherit[vt.继承(传统等)] wisdomsof our ancestors[(ancestor):n.祖宗,祖先]and not get prepared for the future.Secondly, since western cultures are looming[(loom):v.赫然出现] large in Chinawith the advent of globalization,Chinese traditional culture seems to be endangered[(endanger):vt.危及].Many people, especially the youth, are interested in learning foreign language, English in particular, and their cultures. They prefer to watch American movies, Japanese cartoons, and listen to foreign music. While western cultural products are well received, the popularity[n.普及,流行] of the Chinese counterpart[n.与对方地位相当的人;与另一方作用相当物] is on the decrease[v.减少].When foreign cultures are so prevalent[adj.流行的,普遍的] in China, will our future generation figure out our Chinese cultural identity? As the basic manifestation[n.显示,证明,示威运动] of culture,Chinese language deserves[(deserve):v.应得] more attentionand better treatment.Chinese universities shouldtake the responsibilities to preserve and develop our traditional culture, Chinese language in particular. All in all,as traditional Chinese culture and wisdom manifest[vt.表明 a.明白的]themselves in Chinese language, adopting the course in the curricula willnot only educate college students, but also help preserve and develop Chinese culture. Topic 8 College Students’ Image[n. 构成,组成]of the post-[adj.後]80 generation and the post-90 generationare always put in the storm of criticisms. To list a few of these criticisms, they are accused[(accuse):vt.指责;归咎于]of being spoiled[(spoil):vt.损坏,糟蹋;宠坏] by their parents, for the majority of them are the only childrenof their families.Brought up in the social context of opening up andreform, they are always renounced[(renounce):v.宣布放弃,抛弃] by the older generationthat they have been westernized[(westernize):v.西洋化,欧化] looking to western culturesas fashionable and being cynical[adj. Given more and more college graduateshave difficulties in finding decent jobs, they are perceived[(perceive):vt.察觉,发觉;理解] by the older generationsas not competent as college students of the older generations. However,I am of opinion that the aforementioned[a.上述的,前述的]negative image is imposed upon the post-80 and -90 generations, which is unfair.Firstly, as the majority ofpost-80 and -90 generation college students are at schoolor in the lower layers of social myriad[adj.许多,无数],they are vulnerable[a.易受伤害的,脆弱的]to their superior’s judgments. As is known, those older generations were brought upin a less affluent[a.丰富的,富裕的]and isolated society, they were denied a favorable social background. College students in the pasthad to work harder to be admitted dueto the limited resources of higher learning. When they were in college, many could not gain allowance[n.津贴,补贴,零用钱] from their familiesso that they got into the habit of frugality[n.节俭,俭省].Before the adoption[n.收养,领养]of opening up policy,it’s difficult for them to get access to foreign cultures, not to mention American movies and Japanese cartoons. As a result, those older generations are likelyto deem[v.认为,视为,断定为]any behaviors differentfrom their own experiences as unacceptable[adj.不能接受的]and due to their seniority[n.资深;职位高;年长,年高]they are able to express their judgmentson various occasions. On the contrary, the post-80 and -90 generations can not voicetheir opinions in a society dominated[(dominate):v.支配,控制]by the older generations.Secondly, admittedly, part of the post-80 and -90 college studentsfit into the negative image, but they can not represent all the college students. According to our experience, there are students who are obsessed[(obsess):v.困扰] with computer games, who spend a lot of time keeping love affairs, and who spend money in an extravagant[adj.奢侈的] manner. In comparison with these students, the majority of the post-80 and -90 studentscan fit into an ideal model of college students. Some absorb[vt.吸收;使专心]themselves in the library all day long. Some take part-time jobs in their spare time topay for tuition[n. Some voluntarily[(voluntary):a.自愿的,志愿的]go to the remote[a. 贫困的] students.I was wondering why the media[n.新闻媒体]do notprovide more reports of those positiveaspects of the post-80 and -90 generation college students. On all accounts, the negative image is imposedby those established older generations, and can not represent all the college students. As a member of the post 80 and 90 college students,I believe that we will still bethe backbone[n.脊椎,志气,骨干,支柱;主干]of our society in the future.Topic 9 Should Public[adj. 宣布,宣告]of Disciplinary[a. 分量]Be Abolished[(abolish):vt.废止,革除,取消]?In the recent,it is reportedthat students commit suicides[(suicide):n.自杀] after school authoritiesmake public announcement of disciplinary measuresagainst those culprits[(culprit):n. 时常地],those culprits’ parents would sue schools for compensations[(compensation):n. No matter how much money they are compensated[(compensate):v.补偿,赔偿],it can not change the factthat the dead students are not to regenerate[adj.改过自新的,新生的].Some educationalists[(educationalist):教育家,教育学者] hencesuggest that public announcement of disciplinary measures be abolished. They argue that students are fragile[a. 心理学]for they are the only childrenand usually get too much protection from families. But should they get away with punishments?I do not think so.Firstly, as students have alreadyborne in their mind the consequencesthat if they break certain school regulations, they must take the responsibility. They should accept any due punishments.I do not believe that those students have no idea of what those regulations are or any previous regulation[n. Generally speaking, they are repeatedly told not to breach[v. 标准,准则]and regulations by their head teachers and parents. Before students sit certain exams, they will be reminded again ofdisposing[(dispose):vi.去掉,丢掉;销毁]of any material relevant[adj.有关的]to examinations. They will also be informed what consequences they are to bear if they don’t conform[v.一致,符合,相似] to the regulations. Therefore, if they stillintend to break norms and regulations, they must accept any forms of punishment without complaints.Otherwise, norms and regulations would have no bonding[(bond):n.债券] effects.Secondly, the purpose of public announcement of disciplinary measuresis to help those culprits by supervision[n.监督,指导] of the public. As people tend[vt. 走向,趋向;倾向] to hold their mistakesfrom being revealed to other people, they actually avoid acknowledging[(acknowledge):v.就…表示谢意,致谢] their mistakesand are unwilling to correct them. After the publication of their mistakes, culprits would be judged by their classmates, friends and teachers, and hencethey can be imposed pressures not to err[v.

Nowadays, many youth changes their jobs frequently which have aroused large focus by public. Some people think young people should stick to one job until they learn things. But others think if young people have higher salary or position, they could change their jobs as well as they like. In my opinion, I prefer the second one.
Firstly, many students don’t know what kinds of job they really want after graduate, but if they practice and change constantly, they may find the favor one. Moreover, change means step forward. Of course, they will choose the one with high pay or high position.

What kind of happiness is it? Anyone would say that happiness is a wonderful feeling in mood. It's true. Who doesn't need to be happy? I need it all. What is that happiness for me?Happiness is the constantplay.Happiness is the game that is notfinished.Happiness is a loud cry.Happiness is the singing of all things.Happiness is the endlesscandy.Happiness is the score of 100 points.Have you ever thought about this? This is the joy we want, an indescribable feeling. At this age of ours, we are constantly playing and going crazy in nature. This is the quickest way to get happiness. When you were young, you could make some friends without knowing anything. You played and played together, and of course you were happy and happy. They all like to play, because it can be fun to play, we are free to understand in the nature, maybe, in the eyes of father and mother, we go out to play is a plaything, but they do not know what we did on earth? We only think that we make some bad things and only judge from the surface. Therefore, we have unwittingly blocked our chances of happiness.I believe everyone likes sweet taste. Sad, it must be sour, relative, that happiness must be sweet. Sometimes, of course, when you are in a bad mood, eat a candy (preferably not chocolate), and feel better. If it is not possible to find a place where nobody isable to vent (notice that there must be no one, otherwise someone else will think you have a problem), calling out all the grievances in your heart, it must be very effective.Another thing is the most important thing. That is achievement. What we are most concerned about now is the score. If it is not good, you will not be happy. The teacher looked for you, the parents looked for you, and asked that.

1 Children should begin their formal schooling at an early agePeople have different views on what children should do at a very early age. Through putting them to study, young children are occupied with learning but not with playing. Those who argue for children’s early commencement for formal education believe that being put to studies, children can develop good habit of studying, for the process of learning helps develop children’s mental abilities like the ability to memorize, the ability to understand and the ab ility to do simple calculation. Children’s habit of studying and love for learning are of great importance to youngsters because these two things set up the sound foundation for their future studies.Having children start formal education at a very early age benefits young children much more than simply letting them playmost of their time. A good habit needs a long time to develop to become a second nature. More importantly, it is better to develop a good habit before a bad one may grow. Similarly, the love for learning should take toots for before the love for playing is established.2.Should a person make an important decision alone?A person should never make an important decision alone, important decisions should be well thought out. People, who know you well, know what is best for you, and close to you can give you good advice, give you a different perspective, or share their own experience. When I had difficulty deciding which classes to take in collage, I talked to my teachers and advisors; they had the knowledge and expertise to help me determine which classes were the best ones to take for my future career. Without their advice, I might have chosen unsuitable courses. In collage, I had convinced myself that I was not good enough to act in the school play. Therefore, I decided not to audition even though drama had always been my passion. The day of the audition, a friend of mine asked me why I was not auditioning. When I told her I did not feel I was good enough, she was shocked. She was able toprovide me with another perspective on myself and my talents. I rethought my decision and tried out….and got a lead in the play.Last year when I was trying to decide whether or not I should study overseas, I talked to my friend. This was the best thing I could have done. This was a big decision for me because I had never been overseas on my own and I was not sure if I could do it. She had studied overseas the precious year. She told me aboutthe challenges and opportunities I might encounter and helped me make the right decision. I went and it was amazing.Whenever I am faced with an important decision, I seek advice from others so that I am well-informed and have the benefit of their perspective and experience.3.My opinion on advertisementAdvertisements appear everywhere in modern society. There are many way to advertise and ads come in different forms. Newspapers and billboards carry advertisements; some products are announced on TV and radio which have a wide audience.Advertising is a big industry and many agencies are set up for furnish a variety of services for it.However, advertising is not welcome sometimes. Thus the consumers fall victim to such advertising.Although there are disadvantages of ads, we can not forget the advantages and the conveniences they bring to us. First, by telling us where something is available, they may save us money and time. They guide us in finding suitable jobs and other information as well. Secondly, a wide range of activities and institutions receive financial support through advertising. Without this support we would have to pay much more for newspapers and sports games. Thirdly, perfect advertisementseven provide entertainment. A considerable amount of effort goes into their production. So in most cases the photography is truly artistic, the slogans are genuinely witty, and the situations are decidedly funny.Generally speaking, advertisements have become one of the most authoritative voices speaking to us today. Let us make our life easier by learning to choose proper ads, and be the master of advertisements, not their salve.4.Living in university dormitories or apartments in the community?I think it is better for college students to live on campus during their first two years, and then move into an apartment for off-campus life, while juniors and seniors need the independence of off-campus life. Student’s needs change over four years, so their housing should too.Living on-campus makes it easier to get oriented to the way things are done. You get the whole university experience. Plus, you interact more with other students. This includes not only your roommates, but everyone in your dormitory. The older students in the dormitory can be a big help for the new students. Keeping up with studies in your first year is hard enough. You should not have to worry about finding your way around and figuring out the university bureaucracy.Living in the dormitory also makes a student feel more a part of the university community. There are more opportunities for becoming involved in university activities and networking with students and university administration.Living off-campus, however, is a definite advantage for older students. Finding an apartment, dealing with leases and the lan dlord’s regulations, cooking meals, and figuring out budgetsare all good practice for life after graduation. This kind of independence helps older students grow in adulthood.Off-campus housing also gives students a better perspective on what is going on around them. Campus can be like little worlds of their own. There are few children or older people and everyone is focused on education. Getting to know neighbors who are not students is good for students coming from difference places. It is a chance to find out what other people think and feel.I think a combination of two years on-campus and two years off-campus is a winning combination for most students.5.Providing physical exercises should not be the schools responsibility? While physical exercise is important, I do not believe that it is the school’s responsibility to provide physical training for its students. That is something that everyone can take care of on his or her own. Many students get plenty of physical exercise as part of their daily life or recreation.A student who bicycles ten miles to and from school does not need more exercise. A good physical education program must take a student’s outside activity into consideration. Otherwise, some students will spend valuable class hours repeating physical exercise. If a school offers such activities, it also suggests that students will be graded on them. The range of possible physical activities is great: football, swimming, weight lifting, ballet, ballroom dance, yoga, skiing, horseback riding, and golf are just a few. However, the number of activities that a school could offer is small. Some students could get bad grades in physical education simplybecause the school could notprovide an activity they enjoy or do well. This seems unfair. Research suggests that participation, not excellence, in these activities determines the physical benefits the body will get.Another issue is economic. Many schools do not have the money to provide gry facilities, playing fields, and athletic equipment for their student. Other schools are located in cities where the kind of space just is not available. A few schools would rather keep money for academic purposes.Schools can certainly encourage physical activity. They can provide space for activities, events, and classes for physical activities. They can encourage students to plan time away from academic studies to get some exercise. However, I think that providing exercise should not be the schools responsibility.6.Living in university dormitories or apartments in the community?I think it is better for college students to live on campus during their first two years, and then move into an apartment for off-campus life, while juniors and seniors need the independence of off-campus life. Student’s needs change over fo ur years, so their housing should too.Living on-campus makes it easier to get oriented to the way things are done. You get the whole university experience. People who know you well, know what is best for you, and close to you can give you good advice, give you a different perspective, or share their own experience. When I had difficulty deciding which classes to take in collage, I talked to my teachers and advisors, they had the knowledge and expertise to help me determine which classes were the best ones to take for my future career. Without their advice, I might have chosen unsuitable courses. In collage, I had convinced myself that I was not good enough to act in the school play. Therefore, I decided not toaudition even though drama had always been my passion. The day of the audition, a friend of mine asked me why I was not auditioning. This was a big decision for me because I had never been overseas on my own and I was not sure if I could do it. She had studied overseas the precious year. She told me about the challenges and opportunities I might encounter and helped me make the right decision. I went and it was amazing.Whenever I am faced with an important decision, I seek advice from others so that I am well-informed and have the benefit of their perspective and experience My opinion on advertisementAdvertisements appear everywhere in modern society. There are many way to advertise and ads come in different forms. Newspapers and billboards carry advertisements; some products are announced on TV and radio which have a wide audience. Theadvertisers exaggerate the benefi ts of the merchandise they want to sell in order to gain more profits. Thus the consumer falls victim to such advertising.Although there are disadvantages of ads, we can not forget the advantages and the conveniences they bring to us. First, by telling us where something is available, they may save us money and time. They guide us in finding suitable jobs and other information as well. Secondly, a wide range of activities and institutions receive financial support through advertising. Without this support we would have to pay much more for newspapers and sports games. Let us make our life easier by learning to choose proper ads, and be the master of advertisements, not their salve.:At the beginning of the new millennium, there are wider social concerns about increasingly conspicuous splits in society between those who are computer literate, employable and well paid, and those who are not, -----Such split is termed "Digital Divide". What do you think is ONE of the major problems that may result from this trend? Write an essay of about 400 words on the topic given below:7.A Major Problem Resulted From Digital Divide(数字鸿沟,数码鸿沟)In recent years, although the majority of all countries especially the post-industrial societies, have achievedpreeminent(卓越的) progress thanks to the widespread of personal computer and Internet, this trend also resulted in large groups of poor, underprivileged(被剥夺基本权力的,穷困的,下层社会的) and disadvantaged(贫穷的,处于不利地位的) people who lack in computer skills. Such groups have limited access to the information age and are identified below the Digital Divide. These people find it difficult to find a decent job, and many of them are likelyto turn to drugs and crimes. In a word, this tendency has created many social problems, namely unemployment, crime, drug abuse, disparity(不一致, 不同, 不等) between the rich and the poor, and so on. I think the most important element among them is crime. The Digital Divide functions on two levels, namely the domestic level and the international level. On the domestic level, when it comes to other negative effects accompanied by the emergence of Digital Divide such as unemployment and drug abuse, some people may adopt an inappropriate perspective that they are not affected by these problems and show no interest in solving them. Regardless of the political correctness of such opinions, the devastating effects of crimes closely associate with all those in the society and allow of no neglect. If we don't put this issue under scrutiny, our lives and properties will naturally suffer great loss as a result and this issue virtually serves the function of a trigger of dissatisfaction among the people. Furthermore, since the computer skills are necessary in our routine jobs, those computer illiterate will be disappointed to find they are not qualified to have an upper hand in the job market. They have no choice but to commit crimes as a means of earning their bread as well as revenging(报仇, 复仇,替...报仇, 复仇)on the society. On the international level, people in underdeveloped countries will lament that their situation is worse than before since the advent of the personal computer and Internet, whose original purpose is , ironically, to provide convenience as well as efficiency to all human beings instead of causing social and economical gaps between rich and poor countries. To make it worse, radicals from some underdeveloped countries will attribute their plight to the exploitation and oppression inflicted by developed countries aided by advanced technology. Consequently, they are entitled to take an extreme form of crime, namely terrorist attacks launched against Western contries , as they deserve the punishment. If the digital technology continues to develop at the expense of those beneath the Digital Divide and the underdeveloped countries do not take an active approach to the problems, even well educated computer literates in developed countries will not enjoy their lives devoid of a sense of security. T o eliminate all crimes caused by the Digital Divide, all governments should provide the underclass with educational and financial provision, which in turn generates possible job opportunities. Meanwhile, developed countries should provide unconditional economic, financial, technological aids for poor countries to help them build infrastructure and purchase equipment so that they can take advantage of current technology.8.Should Household Chores Be Required as part of the Daily Routine of School Children?:Some people think that household chores家务杂事should be required part of the daily routine of school children. Other people believe that young children shouldspend more time on their academic studies. Which viewpoint do you agree to? Write a composition of about 400 words on the following topic:Should Household Chores Be Required as part of the Daily Routine of School Children? Some parents prefer to do all the household chores by themselves for fear that the daily job will infringe on their children's valuable time on learning. In fact, it is advisable to provide household chores as a daily responsibility to young children.Since great progress has been made recently in terms of(根据, 按照, 用... 方面) living conditions thanks to the material prosperity in our country, school children generally enjoy a more comfortable life under cozy(舒适的, 安逸的, 惬意的) circumstances and have greater chance to receive first-rate education. On the other hand, however, some of them are spoiled and unwilling to take on their own responsibility. With the introduction of home economics(家政学), young students will respect physical labor and develop their work ethic, which may contribute tremendously to the development of their characters. With numerous shackles(桎梏) and obstacles waiting for them in the long journey of life, the students should become aware of the urgent need to practice chores as an essential form of tempering(回火) their willpower. When they take up the chores industriously(勤勉的, 刻苦的) on the own with parents' guidance instead of interference, they will gradually acquire such qualities as diligence, perseverance, and patience.Another reason why I preach the importance of household economics for children lies in the fact that it is a convenient method to learn useful skills after class. During the course ofcooking, house cleaning, baby-sitting, fence repairing, car washing, grass mowing, and wall painting, the young children may obtain certain techniques and then use their imagination to foster a sense of creativity and achievement, which combine to pave the way for their future career. The last but not least factor is economic. If their children dawdle(偷懒,闲逛)over the work or even refuse to fulfill their obligations, an incentive payment is a good proposal to encourage them to earn them own pocket money. The truth is that the children will find themselves overtaken(突然降临,压倒)with joy upon receiving their deserved salary, which in turn helps them realize the virtue of self-reliance(自恃, 倚靠自己) and self-struggle.Some people may concern that the housework will occupy a large amount of their children's time, which will bring about terrible school reports, cause physical and mental fatigue, or even result in unpredictable negative effects. Obviously, appropriate amount of chores in children's leisure time is the last one to threaten their academic achievements and health because of advantages such as relaxation, stress relieving, and weight maintenance. If parent entrust(委托) appropriate housework to their children with necessary guidance, they will be amazed at these young people's abilities to tackle a good manyproblems, which help to cultivate(培养,栽培)a sense of responsibility and pride. As an effective complementary form of school education in modern society, it should no doubt become a productive part of school children's life.9.University Education is Essential to One's successIt is said that nowadays one cannot acquire the qualifications and qualities essential to success through university education or study in some institutions of similar nature. You are going to argue for or against it and support your view with details.University Education is Essential to One's successIt is not an uncommon phenomenon that many people become successful without a formal college education, some typical examples of which are Bill Gates, chairman of Microsoft; Li Jiacheng, a Hong Kong billionaire and Hua Luogeng, a world-class mathematician. This leads some people to believe that a person can achieve great success without a formal education and that the qualifications a successful person needs cannot be acquired through the study in university or other institutions of similar nature. It cannot be denied that there do exist such examples in every country; however, I can hardly share the above point of view for several reasons In the first place, a college or university is a specialized institution of higher learning where people can receive systematic and scientific training in a certain field, which paves the way for(为...铺平道路) their future career. With the advent of the era of knowledge-based economy, a man without a sound academic background can hardly accomplish anything. Only in universities and other institutions of higher learning can he/she master the professional knowledge and relevant skills essential to his/her career.Secondly, it is wise to learn at another man's cost. We can benefit much from the invaluable experience and knowledge handed down from our ancestors and draw a lesson from the failure of our predecessors so as to avoid detour.Thirdly, when in university, one also has to learn to communicate and cooperate with teachers and fellow students, during which one cultivates friendship and acquires the interpersonal skills, both of which are conductive to one's future career and success. University is said to be a miniature society.Last of all, there are innumerable successful people who attribute their achievements to a formal university education. It is no wonder that so many parents spare no efforts to send their children to colleges and universities. From what I have mentioned above, it is obvious that we can acquire the qualifications and qualities essential to our future career and success throughuniversity education. The systematic knowledge and solid academic foundation will make it easy for us to understand and absorb new-developed theories based on previous research efforts; with the social skills we acquire in such a miniature society as university, we will not have to waste much time learning how to handle human relationship. Compared with those without formal university education, university graduates have already gained an upper hand(优势,上风,有利地位) at the very beginning of building their own career.10.Travel Helps Promote Communication Between Countries Tourism has already become a multibillion-dollar industry that supports economic development. You are going to write an article entitled :Travel Helps Promote Communication Between CountriesTravel Helps Promote Communication Between CountriesWith the steady growth in the world's economy as well as the people's living standard, nowadays more and more people are able to afford to go to travel abroad. Thus people of different races and colors have more chances to meet each other and understand each other. Such activities among people helppromote the understanding and communication between countries, which helps to make this world a better and more harmonious place.Different countries are striving to develop their national tourism because tourism really has a lot of advantages. Firstly, beautiful scenery, attractive tourist spots and splendid culture allure tourists with different parts of the world, which provides many opportunities to promote exchanges among people from different backgrounds. For example, since the reform and opening-up, China, a country which has rich tourist resources, receives millions of foreign tourists every year. The frequent contacts between foreign tourists and Chinese people promote the exchanges of culture and science, creating international friendship and promoting deeper understanding and strengthening ties. Meanwhile this has accelerated the development of these countries. Secondly, travel enriches one's knowledge, widens one's vision and enhances mutual understanding. In the past, Chinese people knew little of the outside world. Since the reform and opening-up, with people's living standard greatly improved, more and more people have the chances to go abroad for sightseeing. Through traveling, we Chinese have expanded our scope of knowledge, and we have come to know the world better and have been learning how to develop our own country better. Thirdly, tourism boosts推进local economy and promotes commercial exchanges. Singapore is such a good example. It is a small country with scarce natural resources. But owing to the prosperous tourism, the country's economy develops very well and it is named one of the four economic "tigers" in northeastern Asia. But some people say that tourism cannot work so well as。

As economic globalization accelerates, language plays a vital role in cross-boundary munication. An international language like English is inevitably popular among language learners all over the world. And there is a widespread concern whether or not to go abroad for one's English study. To me the answer is undoubtedly a yes, since it provides a chance not only to learn the language, but also to understand the culture.
First of all, going to an English-speaking country is a better way to create an ideal language-learning environment. As it is said, when in Rome, do as Romans do. Thus it can be inferred that a better way to learn how Romans behave is to go to Rome and observe their way of life. It is also true with English study. In an English-speaking country, one is likely to be exposed to more chances to municate with native speakers rather than being
confined to book knowledge only. On his stay in London, a student will have a taste of royal English himself, thus it is easier for him to improve his pronunciation and intonation through imitation. Surrounded by native speakers, a language learner will also find it very helpful in improving other skills like speaking, reading and writing.
Moreover, a student going abroad not only enhances their language proficiency but also es into direct interplay with a new culture, which is an integral part of language study. Some linguists maintain that one cannot fully grasp a language unless he knows about the culture profoundly, for language is only a medium to conduct munication. Thus living with English-speaking people, one can obtain a vivid first-hand understanding of some idioms, slang and the cultural background And this personal experience will be very difficult to achieve-whatever abundant study resources can be accessed to domestically. By chatting with native speakers in daily life, students can gain an insight in the culture.
Judging from all the analysis above, we may safely e to such a conclusion that going to an English-speaking country is advantageous for English learners. A study experience abroad is such a practice to double the achievements with half the efforts. Fully utilizing the chance to get a deeper involvement in the exotic
culture, students may bee real masters of English.。
