Nowadays it’s a common practice for parents to drive their children to and from school. This causes a heated debate in the society. A survey on it has just been conducted on this debate. The results are as follows.

Nowadays it’s a common practice for parents to drive their children to and from school. This causes a heated debate in the society. A survey on it has just been conducted on this debate. The results are as follows.

Of the people who support driving to school, about half believe that driving children to school saves time, so the children can get up later. Another 30% think it comfortable to go by car, especially in bad weather. About 15% consider it reasonable just for the sake of children’s safety. Still others think it is a great time for parents to communicate with their children.

However, other people are against driving children to school. About 55% of them believe that it results in heavier traffic, especially around school areas. Around 30% think that driving kids to and from school will add to pressure on parents. It takes time, expense and effort to do this. Still again, 15% worry that children may become more dependent on their parents in the long term.

I think going to school by car is a better solution for young children. However, for older children it is unnecessary.

One possible version

To make people aware of the need to protect our environment, the Students’ Union of our school organized an “Environment Week” from March 1st to March 8th.

All the students took an active part in it. Students in Senior One cleaned the playground, watered the trees and flowers, and removed weeds. Senior Two students collected waste paper, old books, old toys, empty cans and bottles. Later, they had them sorted and sent to the recycling center. As a follow-up, a recycling box was placed in each classroom building to recycle used batteries. Senior Three students, though busy with their exams, did not want to fail to help. They went outside the school, clearing up waste plastic materials and helping dustmen fix some rubbish bins. By doing so, they helped raise the awareness of environmental protection.

This is also an instructive activity, for now we realize the importance of protecting the environment.
