Good afternoon, my dear teachers:

It’s my great honor to be here to share my teaching ideas with you. Now I will say module7 unit2 in six parts.

1. Status and Functions:

This is a reading and writing lesson. The text is a letter from Sally which tells us something about Wulingyuan and her travelling experience. In grammar, this is the second lesson to learn indirect speech.

2. Analysis of the Students:

The Ss can understand some words and some simple classroom English, but they don’t have a great interest in English.

According to the content and the fact of the Ss, I establish the following three teaching aims of this unit.

3. Teaching aims:

a. About knowledge is to grasp the key words and expressions about travel and holiday and know something about Wulingyuan.

b. About abilities is to develop the Ss’ ability to report what other people say, to predict through the title, to get the main idea of the passage and to write a leaflet of Wulingyuan.

c. About emotion is to arouse the Ss’ interest in English, to encourage the Ss to love the beautiful nature, and to know how to cooperate and compete with others.

4. Important and Difficult Points:

“rock, waterfall, path, be famous for, as if, tell sb. (not) to do”are the

important words and expressions. Direct and indirect speech is the difficult grammar.

It is also very important to improve the Ss’ reading skills: predicting what the writer will write through the title, and scanning for some details and talk about Wulingyuan.

5.Teaching approach:

I will use EDC model (experience-discover-construct), task-based teaching approach, formative evaluation.

7. Teaching Procedure:

Of course, I will divide our Ss into several groups of 4 to 6, and encourage them to cooperate in groups, and compete between groups.

Warming-up

Have a free talk about holidays. The teacher leads the Ss to know traveling is a good way to spend holidays. Now Sally is on holiday in a beautiful place.

As we all know, interest is the best teacher. In this part, I am trying my best to arouse the Ss’ interest in what we will learn today.

Step 1 Pre-reading activities

Show some beautiful pictures, get the Ss to know how beautiful Wulingyuan is. At the same time, the teacher should be a guide to introduce them in English to present the new words and phrases.

In this part, I am trying to create a context or a situation for the words and expressions to help the Ss to understand the new words.

Step 2 While-reading activities

Task1 Predicting

Let the Ss read the title and guess what the writer experienced during her journey. After guessing, ask the Ss to skim to find out the answer.

In this part, I am trying to train the Ss’ ability to pred ict and skim because they are very important reading skills.

Task2: Detail-reading

Ask the Ss to read the passage again and complete the following table:

Use some examples to help the Ss understand some phrases, such as “be famous for”“as if”“tell sb. (not) to do sth.”“It is wrong to do”.

China is famous for the Great Wall.
