The City Of Pisa
The city of Pisa is a small city of about 90,000 people located about 83 km (51 miles)
west of Florence. and the beach resorts of the Tuscany coast are to the west of Pisa. The Leaning Tower of Pisa is one of the most famous structures in the world and for the
majority of visitors is the only reason for visiting the city of Pisa.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa is located in the Piazza dei Miracoli just north of the city
centre.
As a visitor, vou'll have a strict 30 minutes to climb to the top, take in the views and
head back down. so be sure to make every second of your time in the tower count. The
294-step staircase can be upsetting with steps slanting(斜的)different ways, but you'll be re-
warded with the full and wide views over Pisa from the top.
Piazza dei Miracoli( Miracle Square)
The Leaning Tower is the third oldest building on Piazza dei Miracoli; the Cathedral and
Baptistery were first.
Much of the Piazza dei Miracoli is grassed over with walkways between the main monu-
ments in the middle of the Piazza. Around the edge of the Piazza are museums,a visitor centre
and ticket offices. There is also a left luggage facility.

Tickets for the Leaning Tower can be purchased online from the official website a maximum of 20 days and a minimum of l day before the date of the visit, and subject to availability.
Especially in the summer months it is worth purchasing tickets in advance to avoid the

We all have our own summer traditions. In 1939. for my thirteen-year-old great-grand-
mother Toby, summertime meant going to the Muny Theatre. Every summer ,The Muny would present live professional musicals that were sponsored so that even the low-income peo-
ple could see them. Every summer Sunday, Toby and her friend Sylvia had a standing date to
watch a Broadway at America's oldest outdoor musical theater.
After lunch, Toby packed herself a peanut-butter sandwich for dinner and threw some
change into her pocket for ice cream. and headed to Sylvia's house so that they could walk to-
gether to Forest Park. An hour later. they arrived at the air-conditioned Missouri History
Museum. where they could cool off a little during the hottest part of the afternoon. Toby and
Sylvia's favorite part of the museum was the antique dress show. After a quick stop, they
jumped to the Muny Theatre.
Most of the time they would get to the theater early, before the gate opened for audi-
ences. Instead of waiting for the gate to open, Toby and Sylvia would climb over the back
fence and run straight to their favorite seats in the front center row of the "free seats" section.
Toby loved everything about these breathtaking musicals-from the actors and actresses to
their costumes. But Toby's favorite parts were the joyful music and dancing, and the ice
