Simple Sentence

Teaching aims and demands

Get students to grasp the using of different kinds of simple sentences. Teaching key points : declarative sentence, interrogative sentence,interjectional sentence, imperative sentence ,inversion sentence

Teaching difficult points:

Teaching methods : Free talk ,Group work , Task-based teaching mode Teaching aids: ppt

Teaching steps:

Step I Lead in

Show several pictures of the students’ compositions on the screen . Get the students point out the mistakes they made. Then correct the mistakes .Tell them a good composition is based on the sentences they offered.

Step II Presentation

1.Offering a frame of the types of sentences on the screen and making

explanations with following examples.

After that , telling them today we will learn the simple sentence today .

2.Teaching simple sentence

Asking “Do you know simple sentences? What are sentences?” Choose some individuals to answer. Make a summary and give some explanations . The simple sentences have five types including declarative sentence, interrogative sentence, interjectional sentence, imperative sentence ,inversion sentence .

Step III Different kinds of simple sentences

1. declarative sentence

A.Affirmative Sentence

Show the structure on the screen and make explanations .

●主语+不及物动词+其他S+V(vi)

●主语+及物动词+宾语+其他S+V(vt)+O

●主语+连系动词+表语+其他S+V(link verb)+F

●主语+及物动词+间接宾主+直接宾主+其他S+V+O1+O2

●主语+及物动词+宾语+宾主补足语+其他S+V+O+C

B. Negative Sentence

Show the structure of negative sentences on the screen and make explanations .

2. interrogative sentence

Ask how many kinds of interrogative sentences do you know? Ask some students to answer and give some examples . Focus on the using of disjunctive questions.

3. interjectional sentence

Teaching the structure and offering some examples . Pay more attention to the fourth one like the following.

How +adj+a/an +可数名词单数+S+V+！

4. imperative sentence

Show the sheet of imperative sentence on the screen and make a revision about them.

5. inversion sentence

Make explanations about the using of inversion sentences . After that offering nine basic types of structures of simple sentences.

Step IV Practice

Show some exercises on the screen . If time permitted, get some students to come to the blackboard and complete the exercises. Finally ,check the answers as a whole and correct the mistakes they made.

Finish the exercises on the workbook of the part.
