On Feminism[PPT

Simone de Beauvoir
(1908.1.9—1986.4.14)
One of France's most influential women in the 20th century, scholars, writers, existentialism at age 19, she published a personal "declaration of independence, declared that" never will I allow my life to succumb to the will of others ". Beauvoir's most important work is her “the second sex ", the work of the feminist movement is considered to be the "bible". In addition to the natural physiological gender, women of all the "female" characteristics are the result of the society.
Today,71 percent of Amerian and 58 percent of British women would not describe themselves as a feminist ,according to a Cuardian article. The figure is expected to be lower for men ,as historically there have been fewer men than women happy to identify themselves as feminists. TO be a feminist means that you believe women should have equal rights to men. Many people agree with this ideal. But some have become wary (警惕的,小心的)of using the term ,because in response ,people may brand you as radical or a man-hater.This is partly due to the media’portrayal of feminists as bra-burners(通常对女权主义者的一种 贬称)that believe in female superiority. Feminism has begun to see a rivival, with people debating whether we are starting to see a fourth wave.

Nowadays women ‘s situations have become much better. In today’s society, we can see that woman is no longer an attachment of man. Through study and working, women can have a right to choose their own lives ,as a housewife or as a career woman. It is a symbol of the development of our society.
The influence of civil rights: Feminism in western society has achieved many important effects, including women the right to vote; relatively equal wages; divorce initiative and“ no-fault divorce ” appear; safe abortion and ligation of the right to access to university education rights 。
The first significant feminist movement began in
the late 19th century in the UK with the campaingn for women’suffrage(投票,选举权). Women gained the right to vote(if they were over the age of 30) in 1918 in Britain.

The influence of Feminism
Some feminists believe that these areas there is still a lot to be a hard place, but some did not agree, and claimed that basically had already won the battle to fight.
The term feminism first appeared in the 19th century in France and the Netherlands. Since then its meaning has been widely debated and people still often disagree about what it stands for. Here we look at its history and why the word has become cloaked (掩护)in controversy.
On the influence of language: many English feminists supported the use of genderless language, such as “ Miss” integration refers to all the married and unmarried women, or in unclear sex as “ he or she ( heorshe )” charted, rather than just“ he ( he )”. Feminists also supports the use of contains sexual elements of language, such as “ humanity” instead of“ mankind” means “ the human”.
