In 1925, appeared for the prosecution in the Scopes trial in Tennessee opposing the teaching of theories of evolution in public schools. The narrowness of his thinking e merged clearly in this trial In 1925, died.
A film, called “Inherit the Wind“《向上帝挑战》, was made 《向上帝挑战》 of the trial, with much of the dialogue coming directly from the transcripts of the court proceedings. This story also draws on the actual transcripts.

John, Scopes, a high school science teacher in Dayton, Tennessee who, by teaching evolution, was accused of breaking the law. He was the defendant in the case. As the last surviving principal in this trial, he decided to write a story describing the highlights of the trial. The name of John Scopes became synonymous with this trial, which is popularly known as the “monkey trial”. John Scopes died in 1979 .

the 1924 Leopold-Loeb case: two Chicago boys had wantonly murdered a youngster. For the only time in his career Darrow insisted that his clients plead guilty, then turned his attention to saving them from the death penalty. In the Scopes trial, Darrow's defense, discredit religious fundamentalism and won national attention.
