Different from the style of Scott’s fictions. She kept her eyes steadily upon the people and incident about her, and writer about the small world she lived in. “She was the founder of the novel which deals with unimportant middle-class people and of which there are many fine examples in later English fiction.” English novel describe marriage and family in that society too much all log. But different from the common novels, it reflects the life of middle-class in capitalist society through the description of marriage problem. Jane Austen describes four couples’ marriage mainly in it. Their attitude towards marriage are completely different. Through the life of middle-class in the middle of 18th century, the four couples joys and sorrows affect me, especially the four women, Mrs.Bennet's moral marriage, Elizabeth’s perfect marriage, Jane Bennet’s happy marriage, Lydia’s sex-oriented marriage. Mrs. Bennet's main interest in life is to find suitable husbands for her five daughters, while the heroin Elizabeth is intelligent, lively and humor. She has strong human dignity. She refuses the proposal of Collins who is rich but she don’t love, refuses steadily rich young noble Darcy’s proposal because Elizabeth thinks Darcy is condescend and pride, she can’t bear. Jane is the eldest in the family. Beautiful, good-tempered, sweet, amiable, and modest, she is universally well liked. She refuses to judge anyone badly. Lidia is uncontrolled ,fearless. She enjoys searching of the officer in Meryton. Wickham is one of them. She can’t resit Wickham’s sweet words and run away with him. So, I’m interested in studying their four women of view on marriage.ChapterⅡWoman’s views of love in the novelWomen play a very important role in a marriage. Of course, Marriage is a very important part in everybody’s life, especially for woman. This article is analysis the four women in Bennets’ family.1.Mrs. Bennet's views of loveMrs.Bennet, a empty-mind ,noisy woman whose only goal in life is to see her daughters married. Because of her own breeding and often unbecoming behavior, Mrs. Bennet often repels the very suitors whom she tries to attract for her daughters. Ironically, her single-minded pursuit of this goal tends to backfire, as her lack of social graces alienates the very people (Darcy and Bingley) whom she tries desperately to attract. Austen uses her continually to highlight the necessity of marriage for young women. Mrs. Bennet also serves as a middle-class counterpoint to such upper-class snobs as Lady Catherine and Miss Bingley, demonstrating that foolishness can be found at every level of society. In the end, however, Mrs. Bennet proves such an unattractive figure, lacking redeeming characteristics of any kind, that some readers have accused Austen of unfairness in portraying her—as if Austen, like Mr. Bennet, took perverse pleasure in poking fun at a woman already scorned as a result of her ill breeding.But Mrs. Bennet is totally obedient and submissive in her marriage, and Mr. Bennet would rather laugh at her than help her, Austen shows her sympathy with women in their traditional marriages and low status in society.2.Jane Bennet’s views of loveJane Bennet,the eldest daughter. She is kind and beautiful, but too good-hearted. As to Jane, she never thinks ill for any body and she shows her warm sympathetic feelings in an easy manner. Her character is vividly showed in many parts of the novel. The writer used words as “mild”,”steady”, “rectitude”, and “delicacy”to describe her. Besides these, she wrote, “All loveliness and goodness as she is!” Her understanding excellent, her mind improved, and her manner captivating.”All her good qualities decide her love to Bingley is constant, but she lacks strength and self-confidence when he is separated from Bingly. She is loyal in love, on the other hand she has the shortcoming of lacking strength and self-confidence. The rumour has almost made her believe Bingly loves her no more. It is Elizabeth who assures her of his loving and his coming back. She should be brave for love.3. Elizabeth Bennet ’s views of loveElizabeth is the main character in this novel. She has own insight into everything. What’s more, Elizabeth is a intelligent and sensible girl, who is self-dignified and prone to hasty judgements. She is also brave and discreet in her love. Mrs Bennet wants to marry one of her daughter to Mr Collins, for the purpose from Jane to Elizabeth. She encourage to accept it. But Elizabeth is not attracted by his superior position, and she refuses firmly. She proudly refused his proposal four months ago, now she sadly and grate-fully expects his proposal. She finds Darcy deserves her loving. We can see her sensibility from this point. She says to her father. “I do,I do like him,” she replied, with tears in her eyes, “I love him, Indeed he has no improper pride. He is perfectly amiable. You do not know what he really is; then pray do not pain me by speaking of him in such term. ” Certainly she obtains her successful love.4. Lydia Bennet’s views of loveLydia is Elizabeth’s youngest sister, a stout, well-grown girl of fifteen. She is ignorant, idle and vain, Especially she is found of fun, flirtation and seducement. Her licentious words are as follows:“Have you seen any pleasant men? Have you had any flirting?”“Lord, how ashamed I should be of not being married before three and twenty!”The writer describes, “She wants only encouragement to attach herself to any body. Sometimes one officer, sometimes another has been her favorite, as their attention raised in her opinion. Her affection have been continually fluctuating, but never without an object, while there is an officer in Meryton, she will flirt with him;and while Meryton is with a walk of Longbourn. She will be going there forever.”Even when the regiment went to Brighton from Meryton, Lydia is very sad at this, she asks her parents to let her go there to be with the officers. So her licentiousness and ignorance lead to her elopement with Wickham.Chapter Ⅲ. ConclusionPride and prejudice is a masterpiece in the world. Form this article we know a lot about women’s views of love in the 19th century. Jane Austen expresses her own opinion on love and shows her deep sympathy on women. The viewpoint--- “Love is the basis of the happy marriage”which proves Lydia’s sadness and Elizabeth’s happiness. Although she wrote this book in the 19th century, but her opinion can be applied to the modern society. Nowadays, people show various attitudes toward love, especially, for some girls or young ladies, they will do anything for money and beautiful clothes, even they can marry the man who are much older than them. They just considerate wealth and material enjoyment. Different attitudes towards love and different concepts of love result in different love life. Moreover, these four women are live in same environment, they have different pursuit for love.
