榆林市情简介
榆林市位于陕西省最北部,全市总面积43578平方公里，总人口356万，辖1区11县222个乡镇。

地貌大体以长城为界，北部为风沙草滩区，占总面积的42%，南部为黄土丘陵沟壑区，占总面积的58%。

九曲黄河自北向南流淌270公里，万里长城横贯东西700公里。

矿产榆林蕴藏着极为丰富的矿产资源，已发现8大类48种矿产，特别是煤、气、油、盐资源富集一地，组合配置好，国内外罕见，被誉为“中国的科威特”。

煤炭预测储量2800亿吨，探明1460亿吨；天然气预测储量4.2万亿立方米，探明6933亿立方米；岩盐预测储量6万亿吨，探明8857亿吨；石油预测储量6亿吨，探明1亿吨。

农业榆林属中国北部独具特色的农牧交错地区，地域辽阔，生物资源丰富多样，土壤类型丰富，是杂粮、杂豆、杂果、薯类和红枣等农产品优生区，是陕西重要的畜牧业基地、小杂粮生产基地和国家杂交玉米制种基地。

旅游榆林是中国著名的音乐歌舞之乡，是陕北民歌信天游的重要发源地，民间音乐活化石榆林小曲唯一的存留地。

全市重点文物古迹有万里长城第一台镇北台，大夏国都统万城，西北地区最大的道教建筑群白云山道观，中国最大的沙漠内陆淡水湖红碱淖等。

经济1998年，榆林被国家发改委批准为国家能源化工基地，经济社会得到了全面快速发展。

从2011年起，经济增长速度连续多年保持陕西省第一，成为中国第一产能大市，是国家“西煤东运”的腹地，“西气东输”的源头，“西电东送”的枢纽，21世纪中国重要的能源接续地。

2010年，榆林市GDP总值达到1756.67亿元，财政总收入达到400亿元，城镇居民可支配收入为17545元，农民纯收入为5113元。

今后一个时期，榆林将围绕建设中国经济强市、西部文化大市、塞上生态名市三大目标，发挥资源优势、挖掘人文优势、打造区位优势、培育科技后发优势，大力发展能源、城市、生态、区域四大经济，全力推进能源化工基地、现代特色农业基地、陕甘宁蒙晋区域中心城市三大建设，着力打造能源化工、特色农业、现代服务业三大产业集群，实现经济社会又好又快发展。

Brief Introduction of Yulin City
Located in the northmost area of Shaanxi province, Yulin City, which consists of one district and 11 counties with 222 townships altogether, has total land area of 43,578 km²and total population of 3.56 million. In terms of landform, Yulin is divided into the northern area and the southern area by the Great Wall. The northern area, which features with desert and pasture, covers 42% of the total area in Yulin, and the southern area, which features with loess hills and gullies, covers 58% of the total area. Besides, the Yellow River flows through Yulin for 270km from its north to south and the Great Wall winds for 700km from its west to east.
Mineral Resources: Yulin abounds in mineral reserve. So far, 48 sorts of minerals in eight main categories have been proved. In particular, it is endowed with ample resources in coal, gas, oil and salt, known as "Kuwait of China". In Yulin, the estimated coal reserve reaches 280 billion tons with proved reserve of 146 billion tons; the estimated natural gas reserve reaches 4.2 trillion m³with proved reserve of 693.3 billion m³; the estimated rock salt reserve reaches six trillion tons with proved reserve of 885.7 billion tons, and the estimated oil reserve reaches 600 million tons with proved reserve of 100 million tons. In 1998, the State Development and Reform Commission officially approved Yulin as a national energy source and chemical industrial base.
Agriculture: Located in the unique farming-pastoral area of North China, Yulin, which is characterized with vast land and diversified biological resources and agro-types, has long become the premium growing area for a number of agricultural products including miscellaneous grains, beans, fruits, potato and red dates. Up to now, Yulin has become a vital base for animal husbandry and production of grain in Shaanxi and a national base for the cultivation of hybrid corn seeds.
Tourism: Honored as a well-known land of folk songs and dances in China, Yulin has been a significant origin of Northern Shaanxi folk songs and Yulin Ditty- the living fossil of Chinese folk music. What is more, Zhenbei Tower-the No. 1 tower along the Great Wall, Tongwan City-the capital for the ancient Greatxia State, White Cloud Mountain Taoist Temple -the largest Taoist architectural complex in Northwest China and Hongjiannao Lake-the largest fresh water lake in the inland desert of China are all located in Yulin.
Economy: The economy has been developing rapidly since Yulin became the National and Chemical Industry Base in 1998. Since 2001, the economic growth of Yulin City has ranked first in Shaanxi Province in many consecutive years, and become the first big city in energy production. In addition, it has also been the pivots for the national transporting coal, gas and electricity from the west to east and China’s important energy sustainable place in 21st century. In 2010, GDP of Yulin City has amounted
to 175.67 billion Yuan, and the fiscal revenue has reached 40 billion Yuan. The per capita disposable income of urban residents has been 17,545 Yuan, and the per capita income of rural residents has grown to 5113 Yuan. Today, Yulin is the key pole of Shaanxi economic growth.
