Passage 1:

Now, let me go on to the legal aspect of a joint venture. In setting up a joint venture you should keep certain points in mind. //

First, you have to consider protecting your own interests in the joint venture. All your legal documents should be drafted with this in mind. //

Second, you have to understand the extent of your liability for actions of the joint venture. // Third, you need to be concerned about the sales area of the joint venture. This means you will have to limit the joint venture’s market area if you want to keep your existing markets.

Passage 2:

I began my life as the son of immigrants, and with great efforts I worked my way up to the presidency of the Ford Company. //

But then fate said to me: “Wait. We’re not finished with you. Now you’re going to find out what it feels like to get kicked off the top of the world!” //

In 1978, I was fired. I had been president of Ford for eight years and a Ford employee for thirty-two years. And now, suddenly, I was out of job. //

Although I could afford to play golf for the rest of my life. I just didn’t feel right. I knew I had to pick up the pieces and carry on.
