The Shawshank RedemptionMy first feeling was shocking after I watched this movie,especially when the rock went through the picture of the lady.Before this,nobody would think Andy can finish one thing that is impossible to general people,as Red say,it will take hundreds of years to dig a tunnel with a samll hammer like this.I watched this movie for three times,every time it takes me different feelings.I don’t kown much about history,so I can’t see some political questions.But it still have many obvious questions.We can see how dark of the society in that period,people was treated unjustly.In this film,Andy is a very clever person,and always full of hope,even though Red tell him:hope is a dangerous thing,hope can drive a man insane.When Andy have a chance to reverse a verdict,someone destroyed it.So the tunnel worked.Andy diged a tunnel during this 19 years.This is incredible,but this is a truth already,at least in this movie.Never give up,this is Andy.But there are more important things,that is freedom.It mentioned many times for free in this movie.In fact,no matter who are you,and where you are,the most thing you wanted is freedom.You will feel more dead than alive without freedom.So everyone in the prison want to go outside and nobody will ask what they are doing.This is also the reason of the escaping.I like Red’s some words about freedom:I have no idea to this day what those two Italian ladies were singing about. Truth is, I don’t want to know. Some things are better left unsaid.I’d like to think they were singing about somethings so beautiful,it can’t expressed in words,and it makes your heart ache because of it.I tell you, those voices soared higher and farther than anybody in a great place dares to dream. <The Shawshank Redemption（肖申克的救赎）>英文影评戴雪君Once again I watched the remarkable and impressing mivie——<The Shawshank Redemption>,for the sake of writing the film review.It was a story happened in 1940s.The great banker Andy Dufresne was ordered to serve two life sentences,because of a conviction for the murder of his wife and her lover.He was innocent,but no one can prove it.Then he spent his twenty years in Shawshank Prison,doing many meaningful things for himself and other prisoners.Here comes the instences.He taught the warden,Mr.Hadley,how to get legacy without paying tax just to apply for some beers for his coworkers.So after finishing their jobs,they sat and drink with the sun on their shoulders and felt like free man.He wrote one letter per week to the state senate for six years,asking for expanding the library and get some new books for prisoners.Finally,he transformed a storage room into the best prison library in New England and help a couple of prisoners get their high school equicalency.The grandest thing is that he dug a big hole,using a small rock hammer, for himself to escape from Shawshank.Then a thunderstorm night,he crawled to freedom through 500 yards of shit-smelling foulness.From my perspective,The Shawshank Redemption is a movie about hope,freedom and friendship.Those prisoners got used to restriction and impossible in daily life. As Red,he couldn’t squeeze a drop of piss without asking for permission even when he was out of Shawshank.They lost something inside that others can’t get to,that others can’t touch.That’s hope.Just as Andy wrote in his letter to Red,”Hope is a good thing,maybe the best of things.And no good thing ever dies.”Salvation lies within.Brooks,who stayed in Shawshank for 50 years,wanted to hurt his friend in order to escape conditional release.Once he left the cage,he chose to die instead of showing any happiness.Freedom and factual seemed prison to him.When he was packaging in the supermarket,his fear could be found in every wrinkle.When he was sitting on the bench in the park,the loneliness was stronger than those in the prison.”First,you hate them.Then you get used to them.Enough time pases,you get so you depend on them.That’s’institutionalized.’”So when Andy flung caution to the winds and broadcast <Le Nozze di Figaro>in the loudspeaker,people stayed in silence.They felt that it was something so beautiful.It can’t be expressed in words and make your heart ache because of it.Andy was just like what Red descriped,”Some birds aren’t meant to be caged.Their feathers are just too bright.And when they fly away,the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up dose rejoice.”Red and Andy,their friendship in Shawshank seemed more sincere and purer than ours in earthliness.So when they finally met at the beach ofPacific Ocean under the sunshine,I laughed in front of the screen.。

A man was the vice president of a large Portland bank, who had good work to a man so young. He was served two life sentences for murdering his wife and the fella she was banging. But he didn’t do these things at all. Then he came to a prison called Shawshank in 1974. At first, he was different form others, which attracted Red, who was his friend in the end. When he was in Shawshank, he experienced lots of things, including happiness and sorrows. He was fought by The sisters at first. He made efforts to build a library in the prison. He let them enjoy the music which give them the feelings of freedom, and so on. One day, he found the evident which can support he didn’t murdered his wife and her lover. But the bad wardens damaged this evident. In the period in Shawshank, he knew an old gentle man called Brooks. Brooks can’t fit the life outside, then he committed suicide after leaving off the prison. I can’t deny that people in Shawshank are absolutely different. After Andy felt hopeless in the prison, he chose to escape from the Shawshank Prison after 20 years. “Get busy living, or get busy dying.”, Andy said to Red. So he had no choice but escape. I don’t know the minute they found Andy had made a way to the outside with a hammer, while Red thought it must take a man 600 years to tunnel through a wall just with a hammer, then how they felt? After his escape, people who knew him best talk about him often. His story always pulled stuff. And Red thought that “Some birds aren’t meant to be caged, because their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up dose rejoice. But still the place you live is that much more drab and empty that they are gone.” I hold that Andy is a beautiful bird both in outside world and the Shawshank Prison. Finally, Red ot off the prison, and he came to aisland named Zihuatanejo in Mexico. Because Andy came there for this little place has no memory.I gave a general introduction about this movie. In my opinion, the reason why they treat Andy’s escape redemption is that he live a new life with hope in his mind. He is so wisdom in others’ eyes. However, I love him just because he knew what is his most important things in life. Others think hope is disappeared in a prison, so they can’t get off there. Andy is a bird, so he doesn’t belong to the prison, on the contrary, he belongs to the sky. Although in the prison, he never forget his hope. And under no circumstance should we give up the pursuit of hope, even in the prison of life.So when I feel disappointed in my life, I watch this movie. Though already well known amongst his colleagues for his notable skills at writing and directing, Frank Darabont emerges with his feature film directorial debut, The Shawshank Redemption. Proving himself already a master of the craft, Darabont managed to create one of the most recognizable independent releases in the history of Hollywood. 大量的旁白和第三人称的视角赋予了这部电影既主观而又客观的叙述角度;而不管任何一种叙述角度都好,只要运用得当其实并没有优劣之分的,可是在我的个人喜好来说,我相对比较喜欢这种叙述方式。

因为很安静,一直很安静,不带半点狂躁的味道。

讲述者在安静地诉说,而我在安静地倾听。

这就是我所说的那种轻缓味道里最安静的味道。

而不可否认的是,这种味道和这部电影的救赎主题是如此相得益彰的。

所以,是不是也可以因此说,这部电影的这种叙述方式和主题是如此统一而给了这部电影有了那种足以让人迷醉的光茫呢。
