when引导的时间状语从句,一般用一般过去时。

而while也意为“当……时候”，表示某一段时间里的情况，故其引导的时间状语从句，一般用过去进行时。

While I was watching TV, my mother came back.=When my mother came back, I was watching TV.2.while重在强调其后的动作与助于动作的对比，表示“与此同时”。
