在初中英语教学中，阅读教学占有重要位置。初中英语阅读课一直很受老师重视，但不少教师在阅读教学过程中依旧局限于传统语法翻译方法与教师讲解为主教学模式，教学效果并不理想。我们以往对阅读教学研究往往只从教学可操作性这个角度出发，力图寻找出一种适合大多数学生阅读策略与技巧，却忽略了对学生主观能动性激发。近几年来，笔者在教学实践中，把任务语言教学法运用于英语教学中，通过“阅读任务”形式来控制与把握学生阅读进程，使学生在课堂上自始至终处于积极主动状态。同时，加强生生之间、师生之间互动，以激活学习者头脑中相关知识，取得了较好教学成绩。
一、任务型教学设计原则
1.教师主导与学生主体性原则。英语课堂教学由教师，学生语言学习材料与媒体基本要素构成。在任务型教学模式中，教师要为学生精心布置任务，其任务要具有趣味性、可操作性、交际性、科学性与拓展性。在组织任务型教学活动时要协助学生科学分组，并指导学生明确分工，保证每个学生都有事可做。因此，在任务型教学活动中教师既是促进者、协调者又是设计者、研究者、组织者，起着主导作用。同时，所有这些学习任务都是围绕学生而展开学生大脑始终处于一种激活状态，从任务呈现――学习新知――活学活用，学生获得不仅是语言知识点，还能获得运用。
2.任务型教学重点在于信息沟通。在阅读教学中，信息沟通发生于阅读者与文字之间。通过阅读者对文字信息解码、加工、处理，最终达到对文章全面理解。这种对信息沟通能力要求远远超过了对文章中语法、词汇掌握要求。
3.任务型教学中“任务”不是单一与独立，而是具有一定系统性、连续性与多层次性。它往往表现为由一连串任务组成任务群或任务链，前一个任务往往是后一个任务铺垫，后一个任务则是前一个任务延伸与扩展。阅读教学正是通过这一串“任务环”来一步步引导学生，加深其对文章理解。
