鸟类中英对照

鸟类中英对照鸟类中英对照鸟的英文名叫什么?以下是yjbys网店铺收集的关于鸟类的英文名,供大家参考!A large number of birds received their names through the imitation of their cries. The cuckoo is an obvious example of such an onomatopoeic naming, and so are the owl, the cockatiel, and many more. Some bird names, however, have a more intriguing linguistic history.许多禽鸟的英文名都是通过模拟叫声得来,布谷鸟就是一个很明显的例子,猫头鹰、澳洲鹦鹉等等也是如此。

但是,有一些禽鸟的名字背后则有着十分有趣的故事。

Magpie喜鹊The magpie was earlier known as the maggoty-pie or maggot-the-pie, of which magpie is probably a shortening. Here, maggot, or later mag, is an obsolete pet-form of the female forenames Margery and Margaret. The second element, pie, derives from Latin pica, itself meaning ‘magpie’. It is al so related to picus, which is the Latin name for the green woodpecker.喜鹊早前被叫做maggoty-pie和maggot-the-pie,因此magpie很有可能只是它们的缩写。

鸟名中英文 词库

鸟名中英文词库English and Chinese Vocabulary":Birds have been a source of fascination for humans throughout history, and the names we give them reflect our cultural and linguistic diversity. The names of birds, both in English and in other languages, can provide insight into the natural world, as well as the ways in which different cultures perceive and interact with it. In this essay, we will explore the English and Chinese vocabularies related to bird names, examining the origins, meanings, and cultural significance of these words. One of the most striking aspects of bird names is the diversity of the English vocabulary. The English language has a rich and varied lexicon when it comes to describing different types of birds. This can be attributed to the fact that English has borrowed words from a variety of languages, as well as the fact that many bird species have been identified and cataloged by English-speaking naturalists and ornithologists. For example, the word "eagle" is derived from the Latin word "aquila," which refers to a large bird of prey. Similarly, the word"falcon" comes from the Latin "falco," which was used to describe a type of hawk. Other English bird names, such as "sparrow" and "robin," have more Germanic origins, reflecting the influence of the Anglo-Saxon languages on the development of the English language. In addition to these more common bird names, the English language also has a wealth of more specialized and technical terms. For instance, the word "passerine" is used to describe a group of perching birds, while "raptor" is used to refer to birds of prey. These more specialized terms are often used by ornithologists and birdwatchers to precisely identify and classify different species of birds.Turning to the Chinese vocabulary related to bird names, we find a similarly rich and diverse set of terms. Like English, the Chinese language has borrowed words from a variety of sources to describe the natural world, including the names of different bird species. One of the most interesting aspects of Chinese bird names is the way in which they often incorporate descriptive elements that capture the physical characteristics or behaviors of the birds in question. For example, the Chinese name for the eagle, "鹰" (yīng), literally translates to "sharp-eyed," reflecting the bird's keen vision and hunting prowess. Similarly, the name for the sparrow, "麻雀" (máquè), includes the character "麻" (má), which means "hemp," likelyreferring to the bird's fondness for feeding on hemp seeds.Another interesting feature of Chinese bird names is the way in which they often incorporate elements of Chinese mythology and folklore. For instance, the Chinese name for the phoenix, "凤凰"(fènghuáng), is a mythical creature that has been celebrated in Chinese culture for centuries. The name itself combines the characters for "phoenix" (凤) and "yellow" (黄), reflecting the bird's legendary status and association with the sun and other celestial phenomena. In addition to these more well-known bird names, the Chinese language also has a wealth of more specialized and technical terms for different species of birds. For example, the word "鸻" (héng) is used to describe a type of plover, while "鸬鹚" (lúcí) is used to refer to a type of cormorant. These more specialized terms are often used by ornithologists and birdwatchers in China, just as they are in the English-speaking world. One of the most fascinating aspects of the comparison between English and Chinese bird names is the way in which they reflect the cultural and linguistic differences between the two language communities. While both languages have a rich and diverse vocabulary when it comes to describing the natural world, the specific terms and the ways in which they are constructed can varysignificantly. For example, the Chinese name for the eagle, "鹰" (yīng), emphasizes the bird's sharp vision and hunting prowess, while the English name "eagle" has more Germanic origins and does not necessarily carry the same connotations. Similarly, the Chinese name for the phoenix, "凤凰" (fènghuáng), reflects the mythological significance of this creature in Chinese culture, while the English name "phoenix" is more directly derived from the Greek word for the same bird. These differences in bird names can also have practical implications for birdwatchers and ornithologists who work across linguistic and cultural boundaries. Knowing the specific names and meanings of different bird species can be crucial for accurate identification and communication, particularly in the context of international collaborations and research projects. In conclusion, the study of bird names in English and Chinese can provide valuable insights into the cultural and linguistic diversity of the natural world. By examining the origins, meanings, and cultural significance of these words, we can gain a deeper appreciation for the ways in which different societies perceive and interact with the natural environment. Whether you are a birdwatcher, a linguist, or simply someone with a curiosity about the natural world, exploringthe rich and varied vocabularies related to bird names can be a fascinating and rewarding endeavor.。
