The concept of “Wolf Dad”and “Tiger Mom”is vividly illustrated by the funny cartoon: a man with a horrible look on his face is pointing exactly at the school gate of Peking University, compelling his children to strive for the desirable school. Other parents standing by are bewildered by his practice, hesitating whether they should adopt his policy.
The thought-provoking picture presents us with an overwhelming trend that parents are forcing their children to step into the well-established universities, regardless of whether the children themselves are willing to or not, let alone giving them room to consider their advantages and interests. This feverish phenomenon is fueled by the increasingly competitive job market and the success of a few inborn talents.
From my perspective, though the expectation of parents is understandable, more emphasis should be laid on tapping children’s
potential in their favorite areas instead of following the trend blindly to compete for the rare tickets to top universities. In addition, studying in a key university does not necessarily seal the chance of students’ future success.
To conclude, parents should give their children a chance to discover their own strengths and children should form their own values.

There are many interesting stories in our life, and the story illustrated in the picture is no exception. Students are forced to study hard to be admitted to Peking University. All the other parents are confused and hesitate whether they should follow this kind of fierce trend of education.
Funny and exaggerated as it is, it reveals the
real education system existing in China. The wolf father became famous overnight because of his sensational method to teach his children. Although all his children were enrolled in key universities, I regard it as a totally awful way to cultivate children. For one thing, it neglects children’s psychological development. Punished and scolded frequently, children may lose confidence and feel inferior. For another, the idea that examinations are everything in their life has become deeply-rooted for them. However, the all-round abilities are of greater significance, which, in practice, are absent from the education for the majority.
There is no need to follow the wolf father. Parents should be more concerned about their children’s physical and mental health, which is vital for their whole life.
