What is success? It is what everyone is longingfor.Sometimes success would be rather simple. Winning a game is success; getting a high grade in the exam is success; making a new friend is success; even now I am standing here giving my speech is somehow also success. However, as a person’s whole life is concerned, success becomes very complicated. Is fortune success? Is fame success? Is high social status success? No, I don’t think so. I believe succ ess is the realization of people’s hopes and ideals.Nowadays, in the modern society there are many peoplewho are regarded as the successful. And the most obvious characteristics of hem are money, high position and luxurious life. So most people believe that s success and all that they do is forthis purpose. But the problem is wether it is real success. We all know there are always more money, higher position and better condition in front of us. If we keep chasing them, where is the end? What will satisfy us at last? Therefore, we can see, to get the real Success we must need something inside, which is the realization ofpeople’ hopes and ideals.Different people have different ideas about success; cause people’s hopes and ideas vary from one anothe r. But I am sure every success is dear to everybody, cause it is not easy to come by, cause in the process of our striving for success, we got both our body and soul tempted, meanwhile we are enlightened by the most valuable qualities of human beings: love, patient, courage and sense of responsibility. These are the best treasures. So now I am very proudthat I have this opportunity to stand here speaking to all of you. It is my success, cause I raise up to challenge my hope. What is success? Everyone has his own interpretation as I do. But I am sureevery success leads to an ever-brighter future. So ladies and gentlemen, believe in our hopes, believe in ourselves, we, every one of us, can make a successful life! Good afternoon, honorable judges, dear teachers & friends.I'm Lai Senhan from the University of International Business & Economics. Do you know what date is it today? Today is the Olympic Date. I'm so glad to stand here today to share my idea about Beijing Olympic Games together with you all. The title of my speech is: what can we do for Beijing Olympic Games?First of all, let me tell you a story that happened 2 years ago. At the end of August, 201X, when I decided to come to Beijing for study, my friends hel* * **rewell Party for me. They said: after your graduation, you should look for a job in Beijing, and then in 201X, we shall go to visit you during the Olympic Games. I laughed and answered: OK, no problem!Time flied and 2 years passed. Now I am a graduate. My teachers and classmates always ask me: what's your plan after your graduation? Go back home, stay in Beijing, or go to some other places? And I always answer: I will stay in Beijing. I make this decision not because of my promise to my friends 2 years ago, but because: I've fallen in love with Beijing! I'm eager to welcome the coming Olympic Games together with my fellow countrymen, and I wish I could do something for the Olympics & for the city.As we know, Beijing will host the 29th Summer Olympic Games in 201X. As a Chinese, I think many people are thinking: what we can do for Beijing Olympic Games. Most of us are not athletes, we cannot take part in competitions directly; we are not officials either, we don't need to do the preparatory work. We are only ordinary people, what we can do!There are still so many things we can do! For example, for me, I am a graduate majoring Business English. As far as I am concerned, Iwill keep on learning English hard, and apply for being a volunteer.I will use English to serve the Games together with other volunteers. And also, as a businessman at that time, I will avail myself of the great commercial opportunities that the Olympics brings to us, make more efforts to offer my contribution to the growth of our national economy. And for all of us, with the goal to host a "Green Olympics", we shall plant more trees, grass & flowers. Don't waste water. In orderto alleviate the problems of air pollution & traffic congestions, we shall take buses & subways more. With the goal to host a "People's Olympics", and in order to make our Olympics more attractive and to make our Beijing more beautiful, we shall help everyone we meet who needs help, we shall abide by traffic rules, don't smoke in publicand no spitting. The most important way for our Chinese to supportour Beijing Olympic Games, in my opinion, is to work hard on our duties. The person I admire the most has to be Yang Li.Since he was young, he was very quiet, afraid to speak he waseven too scared to answer the phone. T oday my speech is “I love black-faced spoonbill. On a beautiful winter day, I happened to meet the lovely spirit----Black Faced Spoonbill, a type of migratory bird, which spends winter at Hong-Shu-Lin in my city every year. Covered with snow-white feathers, it has black legs and a black beak. Besides the blacks and whites, an amazing splash of yellow is under its neck. So elegant that I couldn’t help loving it at first sight. With a big and spoon-shaped beak, it can clasp fishes easily, which makes it a powerful hunter in birds. However, with human expansion and pollution, only around 20xx ones are living all over the world.Like the eleven swan princes in Andersen’s Fairy Tale, the Black Faced Spoonbills have always been struggling to find a tiny rock which can offer them a momentary tranquility. Fortunately, they have found one in my beloved home. I would always hold them dearly to my heart and wish they would return with flocks of chicks in the following years, and s inging…Oh, I have a home, such a beautiful home, where I play and rest happily.Oh, give them a home, such a wonderful home, where the spoonbills play all day. 3I'm studying in a city famous for its walls. All visitors to my city are amazed by the imposing sight of the city walls, silhouetted by the setting sun with gold and shining lines. With old, cracked bricks patched with lichen, the walls are weather-beaten guards, standing still for centuries in protecting the city. Our ancestors liked to build walls. They built walls in Beijing, Xi'an, Nanjing and many other cities, and they built the Great Wall, which snakes through half of our country. They built walls to ward off enemies and evil spirits. This tradition has been maintained to this day as we still have many parks and schools walled off from the public. I grew up at the foot of the city walls, and I've loved them since my childhood. For a long time, walls were one of the most natural things in the world. My perception, however, changed after a hiking trip to the Eastern Suburbs, a scenic area of my city. My classmates and Iwere walking with some international students. As we walked out of the city, we found ourselves flanked by taller and taller trees, which formed a huge canopy above our heads. Suddenly an international student asked me, "Where is the entrance to the Eastern Suburbs?""We're already in the Eastern Suburbs," I replied. He seemed taken aback, "I thought you Chinese have walls for everything." His remark set off a heated debate. At one point, he likened our walled cities to "jails," while I insisted that the Eastern Suburbs were one of the many places in China that had no walls. That debate had no winners, but I did learn a lot from this international student. For instance, he told me that universities like Oxford and Cambridge were not surrounded by walls; the campuses were just part of the cities. I have to admit that we do have many walls in China, and as we are developing our country, we must carefully examine them, whether they are physical or intangible. We will keep some walls but tear down those that impede China's development.Let me give you an example.A year ago, when I was working on a term paper, I needed a book on business law and found a copy in the law school library. However, the librarian turned down my request with a cold shoulder, saying, "You can't borrow this book, you are not a student here." In the end, I had to spend 200 yuan buying a copy; meanwhile, the copy in law school was gathering dust on the shelf. At the beginning of this semester, I heard that my university has started not only to unify its libraries but also link them up with libraries of other universities, so my experience will not berepeated. Barriers will be replaced by bridges. Through an inter-library loan system, we will have access to books from any library. With globalization, with China integrated into the world, I believe many of these intangible walls will be knocked down.I know globalization is a controversial issue, and it is hard to say whether it is good or bad. But one thing is for sure: it draws our attention to China's tangible and intangible walls and forces us to examine their roles in the modern world. And how about the ancient walls in my city and other cities? Should we tear them down? Just the opposite. My city, like Beijing and other cities, is actually making a great effort to preserve the walls. These walls attract not only historians and archeologists but also many schoolchildren trying to study our history and cultural heritage. Walls have turned into bridges to our past and to the rest of the world. If the ancient builders of these walls were still alive today, they would be proud to see such great change in the role of their walls. They are now bridges that link East and West, South and North, and all countries of the world. Our cultural heritage will survive globalization.。
How Middle School Students Can Improve Their Oral Expression Skills through English Debates: A SpeechGood afternoon, ladies and gentlemen,Today, I would like to address an important skill that is essential for every individual to master in this modern era – the power of oral expression. In particular, I want to focus on how middle school students can effectively enhance their oral expression skills through the medium of English debates. As English continues to gain prominence as a global language, it is becoming increasingly vital for students to possess strong verbal communication abilities. The ability to express oneself confidently and articulately not only boosts one's confidence but also opens doors to a myriad of opportunities. Now, let us delve into the key aspects of using English debates as a tool to enhance oral expression skills among middle school students.Firstly, English debates provide an excellent platform for students to articulate their thoughts and opinions on a variety of topics. By engaging in debates, students are exposed to a range of perspectives and are challenged to defend their beliefs eloquently. This exposure enables them to develop a broader perspective on issues, encouraging critical thinking, and fostering the development of persuasive and logical arguments. Additionally, debates effectively nurture the ability to think on one's feet, as students must respond to opposing arguments in a poised and confident manner.Secondly, participating in English debates helps cultivate an array of communication skills. The art of debate necessitates effective listening and comprehension abilities. Students must attentively grasp the arguments presented by their opponents to construct convincing rebuttals. Furthermore, debates encourage students to hone their research skills, as they must gather credible evidence to support their stances. This focus on research not only aids in improving their knowledge base but also teaches them to discern reliable sources of information. Remember, effective communication is not solely based on one's ability to speak; it is equally dependent on one's capacity to listen, comprehend, and respond appropriately.Thirdly, English debates encourage teamwork and collaboration among students. Debating societies or clubs in schools provide an ideal environment for students to work collectively towards a common goal. Teamwork enhances interpersonal skills and hones the ability to collaborate, negotiate, and compromise. These attributes are invaluable not only in academic settings but also in future professional environments. The world we live in today requires individuals who can work harmoniously with others and contribute to the collective progress of society.Lastly, English debates help overcome the fear of public speaking, which is a common challenge faced by many middle school students. Public speaking anxiety can hinder their academic and professional growth. By actively participating in debates, students gain confidence in expressing their ideas in front of an audience. They gradually learn to control nerves, project their voices, and maintain eye contact – all crucial elements of effective public speaking. This newfound confidence spills over into other aspects oflife, empowering students to overcome challenges and embrace future opportunities with enthusiasm. In conclusion, English debates offer a highly effective means for middle school students to develop and enhance their oral expression skills. Engaging in debates exposes students to diverse perspectives, enhances critical thinking, and fosters persuasive abilities. Furthermore, debates improve listening, comprehension, and research skills, while encouraging teamwork and collaboration. Most importantly, debates help students overcome the fear of public speaking, boosting their confidence and empowering them to succeed in various facets of life. By actively incorporating English debates into our education systems, we fuel the growth and development of individuals capable of effectively conveying their thoughts, opinions, and ideas – indispensable skills in a rapidly changing world.Thank you for your attention.。

How to Develop Speeches for English Oral Communication for Junior High School Students中文标题:初中生如何开展英语口语交流演讲稿Introduction:Oral communication is a vital skill in today's globalized world. As the English language continues to dominate as the lingua franca of business, education, and travel, it is essential for students to develop effective spoken English skills. This article aims to provide guidance on how junior high school students can enhance their oral communication skills through the development of engaging and well-structured English speeches.1. Choose a Relevant and Engaging Topic:Selecting an appropriate topic is the first step in creating an engaging speech. Encourage students to choose a subject they are passionate about or feel strongly about. This will ensure they remain motivated and enthusiastic throughout the process. Topics may range from personal experiences, social issues, or even their favorite books or movies.2. Conduct Research and Gather Information:Once the topic is chosen, encourage students to conduct thorough research. They should gather relevant information, examples, and statistics to support their arguments or points of view. Inspire them to explore various sources such as books, magazines, reputable websites, and interviews. Effective research will lend credibility and depth to their speeches.3. Understand the Structure of a Speech:A well-structured speech is crucial to hold the audience's attention and convey the intended message effectively. Introduce students to the basic structure of a speech, which typically consists of an introduction, body, and conclusion. The introduction should hook the audience's attention, provide background information, and highlight the main idea. The body should contain supporting points and evidence, while the conclusion should summarize the main points and leave a lasting impression.4. Engage the Audience:One of the primary objectives of a speech is to captivate and engage the audience. Teach students various techniques to accomplish this, such as the use of rhetorical questions, personal anecdotes, humor, or visual aids. Encourage them to make eye contact, use appropriate gestures, and vary their tone of voice to maintain the audience's interest. Incorporating interactive elements, such as asking the audience to participate or share their thoughts, can further enhance engagement.5. Practice and Rehearse:As the saying goes, practice makes perfect. To deliver a confident and polished speech, emphasize the importance of regular practice. Encourage students to rehearse their speech in front of a mirror or record themselves to assess their tone, posture, and articulation. Provide constructive feedback and suggest areas for improvement. Additionally, organizing mock presentations in class can help students gain confidence and refine their delivery skills.6. Pay Attention to Pronunciation and Fluency:Effective oral communication requires clear pronunciation and fluency. Encourage students to pay attention to their pronunciation, emphasizing correct intonation, stress, and rhythm. This can be achieved through drills, tongue twisters, and listening to native speakers. Encourage students to practice reading aloud and engage in conversations in English to improve their fluency.7. Seek Feedback and Evaluation:To further improve, it is important for students to seek feedback and evaluation after delivering their speeches. Provide constructive criticism, highlighting strengths and areas that need improvement. Encourage students to reflect on their performance and identify strategies for enhanced oral communication. Additionally, group discussions and peer evaluations can encourage collaborative learning and foster constructive feedback. Conclusion:Developing effective oral communication skills is crucial for junior high school students, as it equips them with the ability to express their ideas, engage with others, and actively participate in various aspects of life. By selecting engaging topics, conducting thorough research, understanding speech structures, engaging the audience, practicing regularly, improving pronunciation and fluency, and seeking feedback, students can enhance their oral communication abilities significantly. That means I can sleep in late and have so much free time.I also really enjoy going to the beach or pool with my family and swimming in the cool water on hot days.Summer is when a lot of fun events happen too, like carnivals, fairs, fireworks shows, and barbecues with yummy food. Conclusion: Those are some of the main reasons why I love the summer season the most!So that's the basic formula. But what if you get a question you don't fully understand or know the answer to? Don't worry, here are some strategies:If you don't understand the question, you can say something like:"I'm sorry, I didn't quite catch that question. Could you please repeat it for me?"If you need some time to think, you can buy yourself a few extra seconds by saying:"That's an interesting/good question. Let me think about that for a moment..."If you're not sure of the answer, you can be honest and say:"Hmm, I'm not totally sure about the answer, but here's my best guess..."Then give your best response using the template. If you get stuck mid-answer, you can refocus by saying:"Sorry, I lost my train of thought there. Where was I..."Then re-state your main point and keep going. It's also good to have some basic small talk ready, like:"How are you doing today?""This is a nice room we're in!""I had a busy day at school before coming here."Those little conversational extras can help you sound more natural and buy time if needed. The key things are to stay calm, speak slowly and clearly, and use that basic template structure as much as possible. Practice responding to simple questions using that format until it feels natural. With this all-purpose template and some extra strategies for tricky situations, you'll be fully prepared to impress in your English oral exam. Just relax, follow the formula, and let your English skills shine! You've got this!篇2Of course! Here is a 2000-word article entitled "The Ultimate Template and Responses for English Oral Exams in Middle School" written from a primary school student's perspective in English:The Ultimate Template and Responses for English Oral Exams in Middle SchoolHey there, fellow students! As a kid who's been through the English oral exams in middle school, I know how nerve-wracking they can be. But fear not, because I've got the ultimate template and responses that will help you ace those exams like a pro! Just follow along and you'll be speaking English like a boss in no time.First things first, let's talk about the introduction part. This is where you get to show off your mad English skills and make a great first impression. Here's a template you can use:"Hello, my name is [your name]. It's a pleasure to meet you today. I'm really excited to have this opportunity to practice my English speaking skills."Now, the examiner will probably ask you some basic questions about yourself, like your age, where you're from, and what your hobbies are. Here are some sample responses you can use:"I'm [your age] years old.""I'm from [your city/town], which is located in [your country/state].""My hobbies include [your hobbies]. I really enjoy [one of your hobbies] because [reason]."Remember, the key is to keep your responses simple, clear, and to the point. Don't try to use fancy words or complicated sentences that you're not comfortable with.Next up, the examiner might ask you about your family. Here's a template you can follow:"I live with my [family members]. My [family member's relation] is a [their occupation]. [He/She] works at [their workplace]. My [other family member's relation] is [their age] years old and [he/she] [their activity/hobby]."For example, "I live with my parents and my younger sister. My dad is a teacher. He works at the local high school. My mom is a nurse at the hospital. My sister is 8 years old and she likes to play soccer."After that, the examiner might ask you about your favorite subjects in school or your plans for the future. Here are some sample responses:"My favorite subject is [subject] because [reason]. I find it [adjective] and [another adjective].""After I graduate from middle school, I plan to [your future plan]. I'm really interested in [your interest/passion] and I hope to [your goal related to your interest/passion]."Remember to always back up your statements with reasons or examples. This shows that you have a good grasp of the language and can express yourself clearly. Now, let's talk about a common topic in English oral exams: describing a picture or a scene. Here's a template you can use:"In this picture/scene, I can see [describe the main elements/objects/people]. [Describe one or two of the elements/objects/people in more detail]. It looks like [describe the setting/location/situation]. Overall, this picture/scene makes me feel [your emotion/impression]."For example, "In this picture, I can see a group of children playing in a park. There are swings, a slide, and a jungle gym. The children look happy and energetic as they run around and play games. It looks like a beautiful sunny day in a nice neighborhood park. Overall, this picture makes me feel nostalgic and reminds me of my own childhood."Another common topic is discussing a personal experience or a memorable event. Here's a template you can use:"One memorable experience/event that stands out to me is [describe the experience/event]. It happened when [provide context/background]. [Describe what happened in detail]. In theend, [explain the outcome/lesson learned]. This experience taught me [what you learned/how you grew from the experience]."For example, "One memorable experience that stands out to me is when I went camping with my family last summer. It happened during our summer vacation. We packed our tents, sleeping bags, and camping gear and drove up to the mountains for a weekend getaway. We hiked through the woods, roasted marshmallows over a campfire, and slept under the stars. It was a bit challenging at times, but we all had a great time reconnecting with nature and each other. In the end, we made wonderful memories and learned the importance of unplugging from technology and appreciating the simple things in life. This experience taught me to step out of my comfort zone and embrace new adventures."Remember, the key to telling a good story is to provide vivid details, use descriptive language, and include a clear beginning, middle, and end.Lastly, the examiner might ask you to give your opinion on a particular topic or issue. Here's a template you can use:"In my opinion, [state your opinion]. I believe this because [provide reason 1], [provide reason 2], and [provide reason 3].However, I understand that others may have different perspectives. For example, some people might argue that [present an opposing viewpoint]. While I respect this viewpoint, I still stand by my opinion because [counter the opposing viewpoint]."For example, "In my opinion, it's important for kids to learn a second language from a young age. I believe this because it helps develop cognitive skills, opens up more job opportunities in the future, and promotes cultural understanding. However, I understand that others may have different perspectives. For example, some people might argue that learning a second language at a young age can be confusing and overwhelming. While I respect this viewpoint, I still stand by my opinion because numerous studies have shown that children have an incredible ability to absorb new languages, and exposing them to multiple languages early on does not cause any long-term confusion or delays in language development."Remember to always present a balanced argument by acknowledging opposing viewpoints and then respectfully countering them with your own reasoning.Well, there you have it, folks! This will give you a few extra seconds to think.Use transitional phrases like "Well," "Actually," or "To be honest" to buy yourself some more thinking time.Provide a clear and concise answer, using relevant vocabulary and examples to support your points.Ask the examiner a follow-up question to keep the conversation flowing naturally. Here's an example of how this might play out:Examiner: "What is your favorite subject in school, and why?"You: "Well, my favorite subject is definitely science because I find it fascinating to learn about how the world works. For example, in our last biology class, we learned about the different types of cells and how they function. It's amazing to think that our bodies are made up of trillions of these tiny building blocks!"Examiner: "That's great! What do you find most interesting about science?"You: "To be honest, I'm really interested in the field of robotics and artificial intelligence. I think it's incredible how scientists and engineers are creating machines that can perform complex tasks and even learn and adapt on their own. What's your opinion on the future of AI technology?"Part 3: The ImprovisationIn this section, the examiner might throw you a curveball by asking you to describe a picture, narrate a story, or engage in a role-play scenario. Then, provide details about the people, objects, setting, and any actions taking place. For storytelling, set the scene by introducing the characters and the context. Then, use vivid language and descriptive words to bring the story to life. For role-plays, imagine yourself in the given situation and act accordingly. Use appropriate language, tone, and body language to make your performance more believable. Here's an example of a role-play scenario:Examiner: "Imagine you're a tourist visiting a new city, and you need to ask for directions to the nearest museum. How would you approach a local and ask for help?"You: (Pretending to stop someone on the street) "Excuse me, sir/madam? I'm visiting your city for the first time, and I'm trying to find the art museum. Could you please tell me how to get there?"Part 4: The ConclusionAs the conversation comes to an end, it's time to wrap things up in a polite and memorable way. I really enjoyed practicing my English with you today."And there you have it, folks! By following this template, you'll be well on your way to nailing your English oral exams. My name is Timmy and I'm in 5th grade. My big sister Sally is in 8th grade and she's been studying really hard for her middle school English oral exams. I've been helping her practice and I think I've picked up on some great all-purpose templates and responses that can help for lots of different types of questions. Let me share what I've learned! For questions asking you to describe something, here's a good template:"[Thing they asked about] is a/an [adjective] [noun]. It is used for [purpose/function]. It has [description of key features/parts]. Overall, it is [another positive adjective] because [reason]."For example, if they ask "What is a pencil?" However, others may [oppositional view] because [reason for opposing view]."Like if they ask "What do you think about homework?" You could respond:"In my opinion, homework is important for students. I think it is beneficial because it reinforces what we learn in class, it helps build time management skills, and it lets our parents see what we are studying. For example, the math homework really helped me understand fractions better. However, others may think homework is too much work because kids are very busy with extracurricular activities."If they ask you to describe a personal experience, here's a template:"One experience I'll never forget is when [brief summary of experience]. Overall, it was an awesome experience because I got to experience what it's like to take care of a dog and the puppy was so cute and fun to play with."For questions about your hopes, dreams or the future, try this:"My dream for the future is to [dream/goal]. Specifically, I hope to [specific goal 1] and [specific goal 2]. Overall, my biggest goal is [restate big picture dream]. Specifically, I hope to graduate at the top of my class in high school and college, and then attend a top medical school. Overall, my biggest goal is to have a successful career saving lives and helping people as a physician. I think I can achieve this if I continue to study hard, get good grades, participate in extracurricular activities, and obviously do well on important tests like the SAT and MCAT."And if you get a random question you're not sure how to answer, you can stall for time like this:"Hmm, that's a very interesting/good question.
