Film Review:Brave HeartThe movie named Brave Heart was first released on May 24, 1995 , in the United States. This movie is directed by the famous director Mel Gibson who was the starring actor in the film. The film starring were Mel Gibson, Sophie Marceau, Patrick McGoohan. This movie tells the story about a national hero--William Wallace and the national uprising under his leadership in the late 13th century. In the real history, by the end of March 1296, king Edward I rate army capture Scotland business town Berwick. At the end of April, the England troops in Dunbar annihilated Barry ORR’s forty thousand army. Barry ORR surrendered, as well as more than two thousand Scottish nobles were imprisoned. After that, Scotland was ruled by Edward I(called “Longshanks” in the film), so Scottish people started to fight for their national independence, they fight for their freedom.Director Mel Gibson is not filming history here. The film is not about the whole historical events, it’s adapted from history (1296-1305). The film mainly mentioned Stirling campaign and Falkirk campaign. In fact, Stirling battle occurs in September 11, 1297, the first battle in the film. On this day, the farmer soldiers with rotten equipment, bad training, extremely beat the arrogant royal army. But in Falkirk campaign, in July 22,1298, Edward I led the army personally, William Wallace’s forces was defeated like they in the film. In August 1305, William Wallace was arrested by an Anglomania Scottish nobles John. On August 23, Wallace was cruel executed outside in the iron field of London.William Wallace is the main character,a national hero in the film. When he was a child, his farther sacrificed in the battle of England. Then he grew up with his uncle, studying culture and martial arts. When he was grown up and came back to his hometown, he fell in love with a girl and they married secretly. His rural dream was broken when his wife were killed by England soldier. In order to revenge, he began fighting. More and more oppressed people attend his fighting. The only thing Wallace fights for is freedom, his revolution was set in motion, with great obstacles from his countrymen. Many Scottish nobles lent him only grudging support. His revolution is not smooth. Longshanks let his son married The French princess Isabella to relax the relationship with France. But in the film Longshanks sent Isabella to Wallace two times in order to beat Wallace, all the plots were found by Isabella and sent to Wallace. Tha nks for Isabella’s warning Wallace was alive. That because the princess admire his wisdom and courage and fell in love with him. But good luck is not always come with Wallace. After the Falkirk campaign, Wallace began to take hidden guerrilla tactics against the British. Then his noble Bruce’s father betrayed him. At the end of the film, the noble Robert Bruce led Wallace’s troops continue fighting against English, and won their freedom finally. Thestory present us the great cost of freedom.Generally speaking, Braveheart is a full throated, red-blooded battle epic about William Wallace, the legendary Scots warrior who led his nation into battle against the English in the years around 1300. It's an ambitious film, big on simple emotions like love, patriotism and treachery, and avoids the travelogue style of so many historical swashbucklers: Its locations look green, wet, vast, muddy and rugged. The top 1 thing I have to say is the film’s music. Several years ago I was deeply shocked by the great courage for a nation’s freedom, the same as I’m today. Every time I heard the music, the sad sound rising and falling, my eyes are always wet. It made me thinking about our people’s fighting history, heavy and sad.The film’s dialogue was also wonderful, made me think ing about life, love and freedom more deeply. Such as William Wallace:” Every man dies, not every man really lives.”“Your heart is free, have the courage to follow.” And the most beautiful dialogue of love in the world, William Wallace: Why did you help me? Princess Isabelle: Because of the way you are looking at me now.。

William Wallace (1272–1305) was a Scottish knight and landowner who is known for leading a resistance during the Wars of Scottish Independence and is today remembered in Scotland as a patriot and national hero.Along with Andrew Moray, he defeated an English army at the Battle of Stirling Bridge, and became Guardian of Scotland, serving until his defeat at the Battle of Falkirk. A few years later Wallace was captured in Robroyston near Glasgow and handed over to King Edward I of England, who had him executed for treason.Wallace was the inspiration for the poem The Acts and Deeds of Sir William Wallace, Knight of Elderslie, by the 15th century minstrel, Blind Harry and this poem was to not the basis of Randall Wallace's screenplay for the 1995 film Braveheart as the screenplay had almost no resemblence to the Blind Harry poem.On September 11, 1297, Wallace won the Battle of Stirling Bridge. Although vastly outnumbered, the Scottish forces led by Wallace and Andrew Moray routed the English army. John de Warenne, 7th Earl of Surrey's professional army of 3,000 cavalry and 50,000 infantry met disaster as they crossed over to the north side of the river. The narrowness of the bridge prevented many soldiers from crossing together (possibly as few as three men abreast), so while the English soldiers crossed, the Scots held back until half of them had passed and then killed the English as quickly as they could cross. The infantry were sent on first, followed by heavy cavalry. But the Scots' sheltron formations forced the infantry back into the advancing cavalry and in the general confusion the bridge collapsed, sending armoured knights to drown in the river below.A pivotal charge, led by one of Wallace's captains, caused some of the English soldiers to retreat as others pushed forward, and under the overwhelming weight, the bridge collapsed and many English soldiers drowned. Harry claims that the bridge was rigged to collapse by the action of a man hidden beneath the bridge. The Scots won a significant victory which boosted the confidence of their army. Hugh Cressingham, Edward's treasurer in Scotland, died in the fighting and it is reputed that his body was subsequently flayed and the skin cut into small pieces as tokens of the victory. The Lanercost Chronicle records that Wallace had "a broad strip [of Cressingham’s skin] ... taken from the head to the heel, to make therewith a baldrick for his sword". William Crawford led 400 Scottish heavy cavalry to complete the action by running the English out of Scotland. It is widely believed that Moray died of wounds suffered on the battlefield sometime in the winter of 1297, but an inquisition into the affairs of his uncle, Sir William Moray of Bothwell, held at Berwick in late November 1300, records he was "slain at Stirling against the king."A year later, Wallace lost the Battle of Falkirk. On 1 April 1298, the English invaded Scotland at Roxburgh. They plundered Lothian and regained some castles, but had failed to bring Wallace to combat. The Scots adopted a scorched earth policy in their own country, and English quartermasters' failure to prepare for the expedition left morale and food low, but Edward's search for Wallace would not end at Falkirk.Wallace arranged his spearmen in four "schiltrons" —circular, hedgehog formations surrounded by a defensive wall of wooden stakes. The English however employed Welsh longbowmen which swung strategic superiority in their favour. The English proceeded to attack with cavalry, and breaking up the Scottish archers. Under the command of the Scottish nobles, the Scottish knights withdrew, and Edward's men began to attack the schiltrons. It remains unclear whether the infantry firing bolts, arrows and stones at the spearmen proved the decidingfactor, although it is very likely that it was the arrows of Edward's bowmen. Gaps in the schiltrons soon appeared, and the English exploited these to crush the remaining resistance. The Scots lost many men, including John de Graham. Wallace escaped, though his military reputation suffered badly.By September 1298, Wallace had decided to resign as Guardian of Scotland in favour of Robert Bruce, Earl of Carrick (the future king) and John Comyn of Badenoch, King John Balliol's brother-in-law. Bruce became reconciled with King Edward in 1302, while Wallace spurned such moves towards peace.According to Harry, Wallace left with William Crawford in late 1298 on a mission to the court of King Philip IV of France to plead the case for assistance in the Scottish struggle for independence. Backing this claim is a surviving letter from the French king dated 7 November 1300 to his envoys in Rome demanding that they should help Sir William. Whether or not Wallace made it to Rome is uncertain. Harry also states that on their trip down the English coast, the small convoy ran into the infamous pirate Thomas Longoville, also known as the Red Reiver for his red sails and ruthless raids. Hiding in the hold of the ship while Crawford and a small contingent of men sailed, Wallace surprised the pirates as they boarded the ship. Longoville was captured and taken to Paris where the Scots convinced Philip to grant amnesty so that Longoville could prey on English ships. This last story is one of many recorded by Blind Harry for which there is no evidence. Harry also invented a major action against Edward I at Biggar, which, though often cited, never actually occurred. In 1303, Squire Guthrie was sent to France to ask Wallace and his men to return to Scotland, which they did that same year. They slipped in under the cover of darkness to recover on the farm of William Crawford, near Elcho Wood. Having heard rumours of Wallace's appearance in the area, the English moved in on the farm. A chase ensued and the band of men slipped away after being surrounded in Elcho Wood. Here, Wallace took the life of one of his men that he suspected of disloyalty, in order to divert the English from the trail. In 1304 he was involved in skirmishes at Happrew and Earnside.Wallace evaded capture by the English until 5 August 1305 when John de Menteith, a Scottish knight loyal to Edward, turned Wallace over to English soldiers at Robroyston near Glasgow. Wallace was transported to London and taken to Westminster Hall, where he was tried for treason and was crowned with a garland of oak to suggest he was the king of outlaws. He responded to the treason charge, "I could not be a traitor to Edward, for I was never his subject." With this, Wallace asserted that the absent John Balliol was officially his king. Wallace was declared guilty.Following the trial, on 23 August 1305, Wallace was taken from the hall, stripped naked and dragged through the city at the heels of a horse to the Elms at Smithfield. He was hanged, drawn and quartered — strangled by hanging but released while he was still alive, eviscerated and his bowels burnt before him, beheaded, then cut into four parts. His preserved head (dipped in tar) was placed on a pike atop London Bridge. It was later joined by the heads of the brothers, John and Simon Fraser. His limbs were displayed, separately, in Newcastle upon Tyne, Berwick-upon-Tweed, Stirling, and Aberdeen.。

The film review of Brave HeartAbstract:The actor William Wallace was born in Scotland in1276.He lived with his uncle in a strange land after his father was died.In the end of13th,Wallace came back to his hometown and met his childhood sweetheart Murron and got married with her. After his wife was killed by the English Wallace make up his mind to raise the standard of revolt, he is a true person to be the leader. The princess became the second love in Wallace’s life. But Wallace died a heroic death at last.Although the film is a little bloody and cruelty, the miserable love story of it is engaging. Keywords:battle;against;freedom;passionateBody:The most unforgettable of Brave Heart is the battle scenes, which are frequent, blood and violence.Mel Gibson made it full-throated,red-blooded battle epic about a legendary Scots warrior who led his nation into battle against the English in the year around1300.Gibson is not filming history here but myth.William Wallace may have been areal person, but remains a small-type-printed annotation in most historical reference books.Brave Heart owes a lot to its playwright Randall Wallace who puts into the work, not only talent but also passion. He insists that William Wallace play a more important part than that which is recorded in documents.Brave Heart owes more to Mel Gibson who, inspired by both Wallace, adds his own contemporarily-celebrated concept of personal freedom to the13th-century legend by creating William Wallace’s dying cry“Freedom”as his body is stretched on the rack. That isn’t exactly based on fact, but it doesn’t stop Gibson from making his dying cry,and it fits in with the whole glorious sweep of Brave Heart, which is an action epic in the spirit of a Hollywood swordplay classic.Once we understand that this is not a serious historical reconstruction,we accept andappreciate Brave Heart with no need of knowing the ancient history of Britain. The story itself is simple and clear and the theme is also clearly conveyed. In the film,Wallace’s chief antagonist is King Edward, who is really a tyrant, putting to death all who opposes him. While still a young boy,Wallace witnesses the King’s betrayal and cruelty:all the Scots carrying on peace negotiations are hanged, even their servants are not excluded. Young Wallace’s father and brother died in the battle against the English and his uncle took him to the European Continent to receive schooling. When he returns to the hometown,Wallace has grown up into a brave, handsome and well-educated young man.Wallace joined his fellow townsmen to celebrate a new couple’s wedding, where he has a reunion with his childhood pal Hamish;they hurl rocks at each other for entertainment, and the tow become friends and comrade in arms in the later battle. Most of all,he meets his childhood sweetheart Murron, and marries her in secret so the local English won’t claim his right of“prima notta”.Indeed, under the medieval concept of “prima notta”or“first night”,nobles were allowed the first chance to sleep with the wives of their lesser.Scotsmen, make up their main to fight for their independence from the English. They need a true leader,Wallace, the son of a hero, brave and wise,is a true person. But he only wants to be a comment farmer,to lead his own life.He doesn’t see the true face of Longshanks until he witnesses his wife humiliated and killed by English soldiers. It makes his blood boil. Now I want to mention another soul in the film, the princess, played by the French actress Sophie Marceau. The marriage between her and Edward’s son,the Prince of Wales,is only for political reasons. She does not much admire her husband,an effete fop who spends most of his time hanging about moon–eyed with his best friend.Edward I, smarting from defeat, dispatches the princess to offer his terms to Wallace. If Wallace hasher killed or taken hostage, the French king will be angered and back up the English;if Wallace lets her return, with or without an agreement to negotiate,Edward I has already gained time to assemble troops to put down Wallace’s rebellion. But it’s impossible for everything to turn out as he wishes. The princess is soon spilling all the state secrets to Wallace,“because of the way you look at me.”She becomes the second love in Wallace’s life. The tow romances, together with those spectacular battle scenes, expertly directed by the magnetic star, help compensate for the film’s uneven script and over length. It is sometimes seen as an egotistical gesture when actors direct themselves, especially in heroic epics costing$53million.The truth is,given this material, few could have directed it better. And as Brave Heart,Gibson plays his role with flamboyance, and cut it with sly humor. He is an amazing battlefield strategist, inventing new strategies and weapons, outsmarting the English at every turn, leading his men into battle with his face painted blue, like a football fan. There is a scene where he is so pumped up with the scent of the battle that his nostrils flare;not many actors could get away with that, but Gibson can.We will remember Wallace as a Scots Spartacus but wearing a kilt.A powerful, passionate film about a powerful, passionate man!。

When I see Historical films about love, I always sigh for the sad ending, which the main actor and the main actress separate, not because the ending of love, but for the history. Thanks for William Wallace; I deeply make sense of the love between people included kinship、friendship and affection. In the long history, people fought for freedom、rights and land all the time. Today we are free, but how many people dare to pursue his love or ideal, and how many people see his relatives、friends or the one he deep in love getting on a train and going away. I think we should take measures to defend our true feeling and follow it. The love between William Wallace and Murron was wonderful because they had strived for each other.William Wallace, a hero of Scotland, was excellent in Scotland history. 勇敢的心影评Review of BraveheartThe film entitled Braveheart, which tells of the story of Sir William Wallace ,a Scotland’s hero in 13th century to protest against the cruel king of England, Edward I.Although the reason is seemingly a romantic revernge for his fiancée who was killed by an English landlord. The struggle was so fierce ,bloody and magnificent that any spectator can not come to himself or herself after seeing a series of campaigns that were shown in the movie and we are most touched by the desire for freedom of Sir William Wallace on the last scene of his execution ,in which William’s sky blue eyes were shone as bright as the sky ,a metaphor for the freedom which is hopeless but the determination was never abandoned in pursuit for it.However, one cannot stand the spiteful rebellion of the Scottish nobles and just imagine Wallace’s disbelief and shock when he got to know that the knight of Edward I,who is most willing to kill him in the battlefield,is the one who is most likelyto become the king of Scotland, the man who swore to stand alongside with Wallace from the majority of the Scotland’s aristocrats who suspected Wallace and kept looking down upon him.Wallace had presumed that he was his companion but the reality just showed the just op posite side of Wallce’s naïve dream and both the hero and the audience cannot bear this betrayal from the bottom of their heats. But Wallace still chose to believe,to tolerate and to take an adventure which led to his death and the end of this poetic struggle while meantime ,setting in motion another more intensive campaigns by those who carried on Wallace’s dream to realize the freedom of Scotland.Wallace’s death is like the ringing of the bell in the darkness of midnight, announcing that dawn should be cast upon the ones who never halt to pursue freedom sooner or later. The scene which showed Wallace’s call ing for freedom, while the executor’s axe moving ,the clouds floating, the wicked king’s last breath and the judge’s disappointment out of expectation. “Every man dies, not every man really lives.”Wallce’s last words echoed in the midst of the air, despite the physical death and the passing of the decades of years. The real meaning of braveheart lies on that not only we donot dare to encounter the rivals and the unfair, but also the courage to tolerate,to resist the temptation to give up in despair ,to face the genuine aspect of ourselves .Trust, belief, struggle, determination, betrayal and of course ,the love epic ,are the images we can associate with this marvelous film and we cannot urge our passion to extol Wallace, our hatred for the wicked Edward I and those both mentally and physically delicate Scotland’s nobles.Given the fact that both these two nations are now sections of the United Kingdom,The film reminds us of the love for one’s own motherland the desire for freedom, which is the gifted nature since mankind was born with and we shall never be scared of any obstacles ,frustrations and sacrifices in our fight for freedom ,the goal generations of all classes, eras and races have been longing for and we shall never be in shortage of the courage to gain freedom.(534 words) October 29th.2010。

He was crazy in pursuit of love. But it was a pity, because in the 13th the common survived as slaves and they had less right (or even had no right) to do what they want to do, slaved for nobles, died for nobles. Love between William Wallace and Murron moved me to tears. They loved each other. They had their own land. Their love was smashed by invaders’selfish desire. Poor Murron was the victim in the war, even she was not wrong, but history arranged her dead in the 13th when a fight for freedom just begun. Nowadays, the law has made to protect our right. Today we are free, but how many people dare to pursue his love or ideal, and how many people see hisrelatives、friends or the one he deep in love getting on a train and going away. I think we should take measures to defend our true feeling and follow it. The love between William Wallace and Murron was wonderful because they had strived for each other.William Wallace, a hero of Scotland, was excellent in Scotland history. Mel-Gibson--勇敢的心英文影评

Mel Gibson's "Braveheart" is a fullthroated, red-blooded battle epic about William Wallace, the legendary Scots warrior who led his nation into battle against the English in the years around 1300. It's an ambitious film, big on simple emotions like love, patriotism and treachery, and avoids the travelogue style of so many historical swashbucklers: Its locations look green, wet, vast, muddy and rugged. Not much is known about Wallace, known as Braveheart, except that according to an old epic poem, he unified the clans of Scotland and won famous battles against the English before being captured, tortured and executed as a traitor.Wallace's dying cry, as his body was stretched on the rack, was "freedom!" That isn't exactly based on fact (the concept of personal freedom was a concept not much celebrated in 1300), but it doesn't stop Gibson from making it his dying cry. It fits in with the whole glorious sweep of "Braveheart," which is an action epic with the spirit of the Hollywood swordplay classics and the grungy ferocity of "The Road Warrior." What people are going to remember from the film are the battle scenes, which are frequent, bloody and violent. Just from a technical point of view, "Braveheart" does a brilliant job of massing men and horses for large-scale warfare on film. Gibson deploys what look like thousands of men on horseback, as well as foot soldiers, archers and dirty tricks specialists, and yet his battle sequences don't turn into confusing crowd scenes: We understand the strategy, and we enjoy the tactics even while we're doubting some of them (did 14th century Scots really set battlefields aflame?).Gibson is not filming history here, but myth. William Wallace may have been a real person, but "Braveheart" owes more to Prince Valiant, Rob Roy and Mad Max. Once we understand that this is not a solemn historical reconstruction (and that happens pretty fast), we accept dialogue that might otherwise have an uncannily modern tone, as when Braveheart issues his victory ultimatum to the English: "Scotland's terms are that your commander present himself in front of our army, put his head between his legs and kiss his - - -." Uh, huh.In the film, Wallace's chief antagonist is King Edward I ("Longshanks"), played by Patrick McGoohan with sly cunning; he is constantly giving his realpolitik interpretation of events, and that's all the more amusing since he's usually guessing wrong.Edward's son, the Prince of Wales (Peter Hanly), is an effete fop who marries a French woman only for political reasons. "I may have to conceive the child myself!" Longshanks says, and indeed, under the medieval concept of prima nocte, or "first night," nobles were allowed a first chance to sleep with the wives of their lessers. The Princess, played by the French actress Sophie Marceau, does not much admire her husband, who spends most of his time hanging about moon-eyed with his best friend (until the king, in a fit of impatience, hurls the friend out the castle window).Edward, smarting from defeats, dispatches the Princess to offer his terms to Braveheart, but soon she's spilling all the state secrets, "because of the way you look at me." The Princess is the second love in Wallace's life; the first, his childhood sweetheart Murron (Catherine McCormack), marries him in secret (so the local English lord won't claim his rights). The two spend their wedding night outdoors, and the backlit shot as they embrace gains something, I think, from the frost on their breaths. These characters come from hardened stock. (When Wallace has a reunion with his childhood palHamish, they hurl rocks at each other for entertainment; later, when a Scotsman has his wound cauterized, all he says is, "That'll wake you up in the morning, boy!") It is sometimes seen as an egotistical gesture when actors direct themselves, especially in heroic epics costing (so they say) $53 million. The truth is, given this material, I do not know that anyone could have directed it better. Gibson marshals his armies of extras, his stunt men and his special effects, and creates a fictional world that is entertaining, and thrilling. And as Braveheart, Gibson plays his role with flamboyance, and cuts it with sly humor. He is an amazing battlefield strategist, inventing new strategies and weapons, outsmarting the English at every turn, leading his men into battle with his face painted blue, like a football fan. There is a scene where he is so pumped up with the scent of battle that his nostrils flare; not many actors could get away with that, but Gibson can.。

英语介绍电影《勇敢的心》英语介绍电影《勇敢的心》Brave Heart, the winner of Oscar Prize, is about the war between England and Scotland. But in the movie, the most important thing is not fighting. It is the pursuit of freedom that attract me most. In the age mentioned in the movie, England ruled Scotland in a cruel way. People in Scotland rebelled.Wallace, leader of the rebellion, was a real hero. He fought bravely with his soldiers, for neither wealth nor power. What they want the most is that they could live a free life. After long-time fighting, the rebellion was beaten down and Wallace was arrested. The ruler gave hime a last chance to confess and promised him if he did so, he might not be sentenced. But what's Wallace's choice. At the last of his life, he abandoned the chance to survive and cried out, 'freedom'. This was the word that all people in Scotland wanted to say. This movie is my favorite. It tells me that there is something named freedom which is more important than life。

勇敢的心英文影评(推荐5篇)第一篇:勇敢的心英文影评勇敢的心影评Review of BraveheartThe film entitled Braveheart, which tells of the story of Sir William Wallace ,a Scotland’s hero in 13th century to protest against the cruel king of England, Edward I.Although the reason is seemingly a romantic revernge for his fiancée who was killed by an English landlord. The struggle was so fierce ,bloody and magnificent that any spectator can not come to himself or herself after seeing a series of campaigns that were shown in the movie and we are most touched by the desire for freedom of Sir William Wallace on the last scene of his execution ,in which William’s sky blue eyes were shone as bright as the sky ,a metaphor for the freedom which is hopeless but the determination was never abandoned in pursuit for it.However, one cannot stand the spiteful rebellion of the Scottish nobles and just imagine Wallace’s disbelief and shock when he got to know that the knight of Edward I,who is mostwilling to kill him in the battlefield,is the one who is most likelyto become the king of Scotland, the man who swore to stand alongside with Wallace from the majority of the Scotland’s aristocrats who suspected Wallace and kept looking down upon him.Wallace had presumed that he was his companion but the reality just showed the just opposite side of Wallce’s naïve dream and both the hero and the audience cannot bear this betrayal from the bottom of their heats. But Wallace still chose to believe,to tolerate and to take anadventure which led to his death and the end of this poetic struggle while meantime ,setting in motion another moreintensive campaigns by those who carried on Wallace’s dreamto realize the freedom of Scotland.Wallace’s death is like theringing of the bell in the darkness of midnight, announcing thatdawn should be cast upon the ones who never halt to pursue freedom sooner or later. The scene which showed Wallace’s calling for freedom, whilethe executor’s axe moving ,the clouds flo ating, the wicked king’s last breath and the judge’s disappointment out of expectation.“Every man dies, not every man reallylives.”Wallce’s last words echoed in the midst of the air, despitethe physical death and the passing of the decades of years. The real meaning of braveheart lies on that not only we do not dare to encounter the rivals and the unfair, but also the courage to tolerate,to resist the temptation to give up indespair ,to face the genuine aspect of ourselves.Trust, belief, struggle, determination, betrayal and of course ,the love epic ,are the images we can associate with this marvelous film and we cannot urge our passion to extol Wallace, our hatred for the wicked Edward I and those both mentally and physically delicate Scotland’s nobles.Given thefact that both these two nations are now sections of the UnitedKingdom,The film reminds us of the love for one’s ownmotherland thedesire for freedom, which is the gifted nature since mankind was born with and we shall never be scared of anyobstacles ,frustrations and sacrifices in our fight forfreedom ,the goal generations of all classes, eras and races have been longing for and we shall never be in shortage of thecourage to gain freedom.(534 《勇敢的心》brave heart影片赏析片名:勇敢的心导演:梅尔·吉布森Mel Gibson编剧:兰德尔·华莱士Randall Wallace主演:梅尔·吉布森Mel Gibson .....William Wallace苏菲•玛索Sophie Marceau .....Princess Isabelle国家:美国公映时间:1995年奖项:第六十八届(96年)奥斯卡最佳影片奖、最佳导演奖、最佳摄影奖、最佳音乐奖、最佳化装奖;金球奖(96年)最佳导演奖;英国学院奖(96年)最佳摄影奖、最佳音响奖、最佳服装奖一、背景介绍影片是以13世纪末14世纪初苏格兰人民反抗英格兰暴政为时代背景,故事主人威廉·华莱士,不但确有其人,而且他的英勇事迹更使得他成为苏格兰的民族英雄。

William Wallace in the movie is a typical American typical hero, he has a brave heart has a strong sense of righteousness. The forest, the village as well as the sierra accompany the Scotland bagpipe sound to take movie's start, forms the sharp contrast with war's in noisy rank smell of blood. Freedom, Wallace is precisely fighting for perfect freedom. He mentioned two times that said “I want to farm, to get married, lives well - -, if I may.” To finally this, he has not realized his dream. To avoid the “the right of first love”, Wallace and Mellone has a secret marriage. But because Mellone revolts against England soldier’s indecently, she is lacerat ed in her throat. Then Wallace come to anger and begin to fight for freedom.Wallace lead the villagers resist many attacks from England royal family. Wallace win many big wars, England royal family mount the last attack, at the beginning of the war, Wallace said the troops under his command: “Aye, fight and you may die. Run and you'll live -- at least a while. And dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take our freedom!”However, they fail. Perhaps Wallace is captured by England and sentence to death. After a series of torture, I am unable to continue watching. His life’s purpose and personal mission statement was to pursue freedom.Brave made one fight against exploitersThrough the cruel wars, He is an amazing battlefield strategist. Facing a major challenge, he refused to be beguiled into surrender. William Wallace is not naturally brave, because fight to the bitter end for peace and freedom. I think his brave heart derive from his childhood when he saw that the nobles’ army hurls rocks at each other for entertainment. Later, when a Scotsman has his wound numb, a saying came from his heart: That’ll wake you up in the morning, boy! Just when they thought all hope was lost, William Wallace still believed Scotlandwould be one and freedom was not so far from them that created his brave heartFight for freedom through wars. We can see his brave somewhere in this film such as routed one of Longshanks’ garrisons and murdered his noble lord.; Fight with the thousands of opponents in a war between English and Scotland; invaded Longshanks’ northern army in Your; fought with Longshanks face to face; consulted with Robert the Bruce about united the nobles to built a country of their own, even knew that would be grey. He was not the one to support the noble’s rights in Scotla nd’s land, neither the Balliol, William Wallace’s hometown, but fought against exploiters and looked forward to peaceful life. Brave heart was one of the important reasons that aroused people to fight for freedom and peaceful life. I think it was the power that took William Wallace over the fear of death, the fuel that propelled him toward the life you envision.True love under the warEveryone had his own true love, so did William Wallace. He was crazy in pursuit of love. But it was a pity, because in the 13th the common survived as slaves and they had less right (or even had no right)to do what they want to do, slaved for nobles, died for nobles. Love between William Wallace and Murron moved me to tears. They loved each other. They had their own land. The ir love was smashed by invaders’ selfish desire. Poor Murron was the victim in the war, even she was not wrong, but history arranged her dead in the 13th when a fight for freedom just begun. Nowadays, the law has made to protect our right. We can hold fast to our ideal, such as life、job、love or other else. When I see Historical films about love, I always sigh for the sad ending, which the main actor and the main actress separate, not because the ending of love, but for the history. Thanks for WilliamWallace; I deeply make sense of the love between people included kinship、friendship and affection. His brave heart、unshakable faith about fighting for freedom and love have never influencing the young generation less. His heart will go on.勇敢的心影评英文(三)Directed and acted the leading role by mel.Gibson, the film “Brave Heart”is an epic. Gibson's 'Braveheart' focuses on the human side of Wallace, a character so immense, so intelligent, and so passionate, exploring the definitions of honor and nobility, pushing us to follow the hero into his struggle against injustice and oppression...To make films of historical themes is difficult, It requires us not only reproduce the history, but also treat the history fairly and compress the complex and detailed history into a few hours on the screen, and lets the audience feel not boring .It is indeed difficult . But "Brave Heart" did it.Set in the late 13th century, 'Braveheart' is the story of one of Scotland's greatest national heroes Sir William Wallace, leader of the Scottish resistance forces during the first years of the long, ultimately successful struggle to free Scotland from Englishrule. The story itself is simple and clear and the theme is also clearly conveyed. While William Wallace ,distinguished as Braveheart ,is still a young boy,he witnesses the king`s betrayal and cruelty:all the scots carrying on peace negotiations are hanged , even their servants are not excluded.Young Wallace`s father and brother died in the battle against the English and his uncle took him to the European continent to receive schooling. When he returns to his hometown ,Wallace has grown up into a brave, handsome, and well--educated man.He marries his childhood sweetheart Murron in secret so that the local English lord won`t claim his right of “prima nota” and intends to live an idyllic life.He does not see the true face of Longshanks until he witnesses his wife killed by the English soilders. It makes his blood boil.He and his people raise the standard of revolt and struggle for freedom. He becomes the true leader and it proves that he is the very person—the raging tide of revolation surges forward, smashing all resistance and advances victoriously everywhere. But Robort 1`s betrayal results in Wallace`s fall to the English and the failure of the revolt.Consequently,Wallace was captured, tortured and executed as a traitor, but his dying cry”Freedom” stimulates his people and finally they win the day. It`s an ambitious pictures, big in simple emotions like love, patriotism an treachery, and it avoids th travelogue look of so many historical swashbucklers:its locations look green, wet, vast ,muddy an rugged.Just from a technical point of view,Brave Heart does a brilliant jo o assing me and horses fo large—scale warfare on film. And th battle scenes ar frequent, bloody, and violent.Gibson deploys what look like thousands of me o orseback,as we a oot soildersan archers, and ye his battle sequences don`t turn into confusing crowd scenes.Giboson, just like th hero Wallace in th film, marshals hi armies of extras, his stuntmen an special effects, and creates a fictional world that is entertaining an thrilling. The make-up in the film is also remarkable.Wallace`s golden yellow hair makes him look like a lion, full of power and energy. The actors` clothes are simple and crude, primitive as well, making the atmosphere feel real. When Wallace leads his men into battle , their faces were painted blue, like football fans, crazy and enthusiastic. As for films,it is monotonous to tell a story of war only,of course,Brave Heart avoid it successfully. Here we should mention another soul in the film, the princess, played by the French actress Sophie Marceau. The marriage between her and Edward`s son,the prince of Wales,is only for political reasons. She soon falls in love with Wallace and j ust “because of the way you look at me”.She becomes the second love in Wallace`s life(the first is murron). The two romance, together with those spectacular battle scenes, expertly directed by the magnetic star, help compensate for the film`s uneven script and overlength. It is sometimes seen as an egotistical gesture when actors direct themselves, especially in heroic epics costing $53 million. The truth is,given this material, few could have directed it better. And as Brave Heart,Gibson plays his role with flameboyance, and cuts it with sly humor. He is an amazing battlefield strategist, inventing new strategies and weapons, outsmarting the English at every turn, leading his men into battle with hope. There is a scene where he is so pumped up with the scent of battle that his nostrils flare;not many actorscould get away with that ,but Gibson can .We will remember Wallace as a Scots Spartacus but wearing a kilt.A powerful passionate film about a powerful, passionate man! It's a film that weaves a fascinating trail through the 14th century while delivering breathtaking battle scenes and some haunting plot lines . This is three hours' worth of gripping drama, which spares nothing on either the visceral or the emotional front (the ending, in which Wallace finally gets his come-uppance, is genuine lump-in-the-throat stuff). Braveheart may have its critics (and its biggest fans are nationalists), but there's no denying this is an achievement.。

Brave heartThere is a famous proverb which is“give me liberty or give me death”. Liberty,in another word, it means“freedom”. Before I watched the film“Brave heart”, myunderstanding of freedom was very simple. I just thought as long as people couldhave a full stomach, as long as they could obey the will of rulers, they could alsohave a happy life. However, there are always some people who don‟t like it. Theydon‟t want to be slaves. So, t hey rose in revolt to obtain freedom because theybelieve firmly it belongs to everyone and nobody can take it away except the god.The hero of this film is called William Wallace. He is the great leader of Scotland. He led Scottish fight with English in order to obtain freedom. However, as a result oftraitors‟betrayed, he was arrested by the England authorities. No matter how theEnglish promised or threatened, Wallace never surrendered. What moved me deeplywas the moment when Wallace was executed. He cried o ut…freedom‟with all hisstrength. For freedom, Wallace gave his life. Also, from that moment, myunderstanding of freedom changed. Freedom is not only means to eat. It is a God-given gift to everyone. That means everyone has the right to resist despotism an dtyranny. We are God‟s children, not rulers.Though Wallace died, his spirit encouraged more people in Scotland to continueto fight for freedom. Despite the poor condition and all the difficulties, Scottish peoplestill struggled. And eventually, they won their freedom. I thought if Wallace saw whathe pursued succeed in the heaven, he must be very happy. As a outstanding leader, both courage and wisdom are important. But wisdom isthe most important. AsWallace’s uncle told him the first thing Wallace should l earn ishow to use his brain then is sword. So, his uncle took him to many places and taughthim many things. He inherited courage from his father but it was his uncle that gavehis wisdom. Because of these two things, Wallace is able to be faithful to theyea rning for freedom. This film also broke people’s general idea that heroes weremore brave than wise. The last thing I want to say is its episode. It’s so beautiful. When the music rings,my heart seems to be open in the vast grassland. I don’t know what to, but want torun, to cry, to shout and to scream. The Scottishbagpipe is really somelodious andso free.I like this movie very much. It taught me many things. It made me understand theprofound meaning of freedom. It made me understand the greatness of humannature. It made me understand what true love is. William Wallace, the hero in myheart, I will rember him forever and he will encourage me to obtain my freedomand my true love. That’s all. Thank you!。

What is freedom?
In this movie I think the freedom of Wallace is tragic.
In order to live Free nirvana in the struggle The heart of free
In order to live
Wallace lived in the environment of exploitation and oppression, he also deeply experienced the consequence of the against. His father died in order to resist, this let him very doubt his father's choice. However, when his lover was tied at the gallows, looking at the horizon and closed his eyes helpness, he decided to recapture the desire of Scottish-freedom.
