Read for information、Read for appreciation、Read for fun、Read for critical thinking,并通过一系列课堂实践,以提升学生英语综合语用能力、人文素养。

最新中考英语阅读理解题汇总(共20篇附答案)Passage 1Nowadays, many teens are badly addicted to using phones. It probably won’t surprise you that teens are texting more than ever before.Instead of sleeping, Kenny Alarcon, 16, often texts with his friends through the night.Frances Garcia, a high school senior, sends and receives about 1000 texts each day. Both Frances and Kenny wake up several times during the night to text.Kenny even sleeps with his phone under his pillow.Dr.Elizabeth Dowdell, a professor at Villanova University in Pennsylvania, says that it’s common for teens to be interrupted by texts while sleeping.“If they often lose sleep,”Dr.Dowdell says, “teens may become angry, or depressed.A lack of sleep can lead to weight gain and even obesity because many people turn to junk food for quick energy when they are tired.”Some experts are worried about how texting is affecting teenagers’lives. One concern is that students might not learn correct grammar and spelling if most of the writing they do is made up of text messages. Some people also worry that teens don’t spend enough time talking with othersface-to-face, which could be hurting their relationships with friends and family. Moreover, all that texting takes away hours that could be spent studying, exercising, taking up a hobby, or just relaxing.According to Dr.Dowdell, teens need to learn that they can and should turn off their phones sometimes. She had Kenny and Frances do an experiment. These were the rules: No phone for 48 hours. No computer or Internet either, unless it was for schoolwork. After 48 phone-free hours, Kenny and Frances were interviewed.“Wow, it was pure torture(折磨),”Kenny joked.Kenny missed his friends, and he was sad at times. But he also felt relief from the constant texting. He spent time reading books and talking with his family, which he really enjoyed.Frances had an even happier result.“I loved it!”she said, “I was going to the gym and hanging out with friends and playing basketball.I had a wonderful experience.”Frances decided to continue the experiment for a while.“I think I’ll be so much smarter and healthier,”she explained, “everybody in the world should try it.”1.If teens keep waking up to text while sleeping, they may _____.A.get overweightB.become happierC.disturb their parentsD.feel more relaxed2.What is Paragraph 4 mainly about?A.Mistakes in teens’text writing.B.Time wasted on meaningless texting.C.Worries about how texting affects teens.D.Encouragement to teens’talking face-to-face.3.The writer mentions the experiment on Frances and Kenny to _____.A.advise people what to do without phonesB.show teens can live well without phonesC.explain phones are important in teens’livesD.introduce how they make good use of phones【主旨大意】本文是一篇议论文, 文中主要谈到了手机对青少年的不良影响, 并通过一个实验表明, 离开手机, 青少年也能过得很好。

american teens are setting阅读理解

American teens are setting an example for their parents through their volunteer work, according to a new survey by Harris Interactive. They found that more teens volunteer to support a charitable cause(慈善事业) —56 percent —than have a part-time job —39 percent. Parents said 82 percent of the teens in their lives do something to support charitable causes, including volunteering, recruiting (招募) others to a cause , wearing a button or T-shirt or donating(捐赠) money. Forty-six percent of the adults surveyed said they volunteer and they also take credit for inspiring their children to volunteer. Sara Johnson is a teacher who advises students at a private school. She says she’s seen an enthusiasm among teens for joining in social causes since President Barack Obama was elected in November last year. The Harris Interactive survey found a quarter of teens have become more involved in charitable causes or organizations as a result of the economic downturn(经济衰退). But the economy has also led to cuts in income, and has teens working more hours at a paying job. Unlike many public high schools across the nation, Illiana Christian High School does not require its students to clock public service hours. Senior Melissa Martin said some kids are too busy with other things like sports and music, but most of her classmates do volunteer work. Alynn Woodson, director ofvolunteer engagement at Habitat for Humanity International, said she has noticed a new enthusiasm among teen volunteers for the organization. It is expected that more than 12,000 young people will help build homes for low-income people around the nation this year.【小题】(1) Which of the following is NOT mentioned in the passage?A.Helping find new people to work for charitable causes.B.B.Donating clothes.C.C.Donating money.D.D.Helping build homes for low-income people.【小题】(2) Melissa Martin is most probably a ________.A.teacherB.B.parentC.C.studentD.D.surveyor.【小题】(3) Due to the economic downturn, American teens _____.A.find it harder to do part-time jobs.B.spend less time doing volunteer work.C.get more money from their parents.D.work harder at their studies.【小题】(4) What’s the best title for this passage?A.Teens in the economic downturnB.B.Charitable causes in AmericaC.C.More teens volunteer than work part-timeD.D.More parents inspire their children to part-time work.【答案】【小题1】B【小题2】C【小题3】A【小题4】C【文章大意】本文主要讲述的是根据Harris Interactive的一项新调查显示,美国青少年正在通过志愿工作为他们的父母树立榜样,他们发现更多的青少年自愿支持慈善事业。

You must have heard these words like how happy it isto be a child. But would you honestly change places witha child Think of the years at school. The years spent livingin continual fear of examinations and school reports.Everymovement you made, every thought you thought wasobserved by some adults.Think of the times you had to go to bed early, you had to eat hateful things that was supposed to be good fo r you.Remember how “gentle” pressure was given to you with words like “If you don't do as I say,I will...”I'm sure you will never forget!Even so,these are only part of children's trouble. No matter how kind and loving parents may be,children often suffer from some terrible and illogical fears since they can't understand the world around them. They often have such fear in the dark or in the dreams.Adults can share their fears with other adults while children have to face their fears alone. But the most painful part of childhood is a period when you begin to go out of it,the period when you go into adolescence.Teenagers start to be against their parents and this causes them great unhappiness. There is a complete lack of self-confidence during this time.Adolescents pay much attention to their appearance and the impression they make on others. They feel shy, awkward and clumsy.Feelings are strong and hearts are easily broken.Teenagers experience moments of great happinessor black despair. And through this period, adults seem to be unkind than ever.[阅读障碍词]1.observe v t.

Students tie upbeat (积极乐观的) messages to shirts for graduating seniors. The activity was part of the Pay it Forward week activities in the Success 101 class at Central Valley High School in Ceres, California, US. MCTFRESHMEN (新生) at Central Valley High in Ceres, California had a busy week of good deeds, tied to Pay It Forward Day, April 30, and an urge to show the world that teens can be awesome. Some examples of what they did:● Kids in Success 101 spent first period making sandwiches for the homeless. The 49 kids wore food-prep gloves and slathered (厚厚地涂) on peanut butter and jelly, assembly-line (装配线) style. The classes, taught by Natalie Rowell and Beccy McGlinchy, got to hand 200 bagged sandwiches to the charity giving out the food. “They got to really see what an impact they had. It was inspiring and heartwarming,” Rowell said.● Students made blankets to send to soldie rs.● Students created 45 flower arrangements (插花). Class members went after school to give them to residents (住院者) at the Hale Aloha Convalescent Home in Ceres.“They were nervous going into it. But when they saw how happy the residents were, the realit y of what they did really surfaced,” Rowell said.Raquel Alfaro, a teen mentor (指导老师) who worked with the younger kids, likes the Pay It Forward idea. “This helps us show adults, and also kids, that we’re doing something different and that we’re not as me an and selfish as they think we are,” Alfaro said.Mentor Jorge Trujillo said it mattered that Hidahl (当地的一所小学) kids got to see an older boy helping out. “It’s really important for them to have a male role model as well,” he said. The teens worked with st udents to create storyboards and build Lego models of their ideas. “Some of them did struggle, but they helped each other out,” he said. “It was neat to see how they interacted and how they were, compared to us.”Maria Veliz said she liked working with ch ildren. “I get to see how they learn. It’s different from how we learn, but we’re kind of the same because they struggle in some of the subjects that we found hard as well,” Maria said.Success 101 was tailor-made (量身定做的) for students with that kind of insight (领悟). The first-period class includes study help, speakers on teen subjects and an overall focus on looking past high school, figuring out the steps to create their future, Rowell said.“Some kids need that little push. In this class, that’s what we do, we give them that little push,” she said.“Success would be beneficial for all ninth-grade students,” McGlinchy added. “Since the start of the year, I really see a change in them.”“We see a lot of kids stepping up,” Rowell said. Even making the Pay It Forward plan happen took going that extra mile with a once-shy student like Alfaro stepping up to address the Lions Club, asking for a donation (捐赠) to buy the yarn (纱线) for the blankets and treats for Hidahl youngsters.“It’s giving her that voice,” Rowell said. “Her mom was able to watch her present in front of all those people.”By Nan Austin,Modesto BeeWord buildingdeed /di:d/n. Deeds are better than words when people need help.awesome /5C:sEm/adj.(口语)很好的,了不起的We had an awesome time at the concert.give out 分发,发放Give out the papers five minutes before the examination starts.impact /5ImpAkt/n. 影响The computer has made a great impact on modern life.mean /mi:n/adj. It was mean of them not to invite her to the party.beneficial /benI5fIFEl/adj. 有益的He hopes the new drug will prove beneficial to many people.Reading check1. 位敦市安定阳光实验学校中学高三时文阅读(五)1WALK through a mall on a weekend and you get the impression teenagers save money to buy clothes, iPods, or video game systems, but a new survey shows their priority (优先考虑) is quite different – saving for college. The survey by online brokerage (经纪公司) TD Ameritrade Holding Corp. suggests putting money away for higher education is the top savings goal for today's teens. The results showed 62 percent of teens aged 14 through 19 save their money for college, a much higher rate than the 40 percent of adults who said they saved when they were teens.Educators didn't expect the results. They are pushing for financial (理财的) literacy (素养) education in schools.“It's a pleasant surprise that we're seeing young people paying that m uch attention to the importance of this issue,” said Joseph Peri, CEO of the nonprofit Council for Economic Education. “Part of teaching the importance of investing is showing that the best investment a young person can make is an investment in themselves.”The survey suggests teens save more of their money than their elders did when they were young. About 87 percent of teens say they save. The results also suggest 78 percent of teens said they want a plan that involves splitting the cost of education with their parents. The willingness of teens to share the price of their education suggests that they are aware of rising college costs, Young said.More than 80 percent of teens reported that they consider education to be important to future success, compared with 56 percent of adults surveyed who say they felt that way as teens.“We've become more conscious (知晓的) of the opportunities that are out there for us and the competition that's out there,” said Megan Partridge, 17, a student at Voorhees High School in Glen Gardner, New Jersey.1. Megan serves as an example of teens ______.A. who are doubtful about their futureB. who attach importance to educationC. who are afraid of the competitiveness of modern AmericaD. who realize the effect the financial crisis may have on their education2We won''t let vampires dieVAMPIRES (吸血鬼), creatures of myth (传说), have been around in one form or another for centuries. There is little sign they are overstaying their welcome. Terrifying but also seductive (有诱惑力的), they are as popular in the early 21st Century as ever, as the current popularity of the Twilight series, and its hero Edward Cullen, show.Vampires first appeared in fiction in the 1700s. In 1895 Irish novelist Bram Stoker published Dracula, introducing the world''s most famous vampire. Ever since, teenagers have loved to scare each other with stories told around the campfire of beautiful, pale-skinned (苍白的) drinkers of human blood. But just what is it about these fictional creatures that continues to fascinate us? Speaking to Eric Lewis of the Times and Transcript website, academic Deborah Wells said that vampires are "culturally adaptive (有适能力的)"."We create very different vampires to fit different times. Edward Cullen is not the same as Count (伯爵) Dracula," she said.Different as they are, Wells believes vampires are "the perfect vessels (容器) into which we can pour our current cultural anxieties". Bram Stoker''s Dracula is powerful, yet old and physically ugly. Stoker''s book dealt with fear of the fall of the British Empire, real fears in the day in which it was written.According to the website Bookrags, today''s vampires possess all our cultural desires: money, power and sexual attraction. Represented by Cullen, they are aristocratic (有贵族气质的), handsome young men whom women find irresistible (难以抗拒的). What''s more, vampires challenge traditional ideas about death, science and parental authority. This may be why teenagers are drawn to vampire tales."In many ways, the vampire story shows up teenage concerns," saidWells. "The emotional intensity of the relationship with the vampire matches the intensity of how it feels to have your first real love affair. Your first real love, it really feels like life and death."5. The underlined sentence means that ______.A. vampires are no longer popularB. all types of vampire are popularC. the changes in vampires are welcomedD. vampires remain popular6. According to Deborah Wells, vampires ______.A. reflect our desire for power and fear for deathB. are different in different cultureC. show the fall of the British EmpireD. represent horror and evil7. Vampire stories appeal to teenagers because ______.A. vampires are mysterious and physically uglyB. most vampires are aristocratic and handsomeC. they show how nice our first real love affairs can beD. they represent non-traditional idea8. Deborah Wells has a ______ attitude towards the popularity of vampire stories among teenagers.A. objectiveB. puzzledC. disapprovingD. pessimistic 3Make the most of collegeDear Daughter,As we drove off from Columbia, I wanted to write a letter to you to tell you all that is on my mind.First, I want to tell you how proud we are. Meat, chicken, fish? Out. Milk, cheese, eggs, dairy (奶制品) of any kind? Gone.Instead, you''ll be stocking up on fresh fruits and vegetables, grains, nuts and soy products, all key to a vegan (素食) diet.“As recently as five years ago, a vegan diet was considered ra dical (极端的),” said Mary Lawrence, owner of Well On Wheels, a personal-chef service in the US. “Now, with the new emphasis (强调) on healthy lifestyles, people are more interested.”But forget the things you''ve heard about this type of cooking being tasteless. Vegan gourmet (美食) is in. Vegan cookbooks, full of delightful pictures, are sprouting (发芽) like wheatgrass. With so many celebrities, including actress Gwyneth Paltrow, singer Leona Lewis, and Twilight star Kristen Stewart, claiming to be vegetarians, the planet-based cuisines (菜肴) are the latesthigh-profile food.Donald Watson might be surprised by all the attention. It was the Englishman Watson who coined (创造) the term “vegan” in 1944. It means someone who eats no animal products at all, unlike a vegetarian, who will eat eggs and animal milk and so on. Shortly afterward, the quiet Watson founded the Vegan Society, a group of about 25 like-minded individuals. These days, about a million Americans call themselves vegans. While modern vegans share the same philosophy (观念) as Watson, their diet and message have become more mainstream (主流).According to Publishers Weekly, interest in eating locally and the availability (可得到) of ingredients have led to a rise in vegetarian cookbooks.“People think that a vegan diet is a sacrifice, that it''s tasteless and unappealing. It''s not. They think you can''t get enough protein (蛋白质), calcium (钙) or iron. You can,” said Priscilla Feral, president of Friends of Animals and author of The Best of Vegan Cooking. “It is a way of living in harmony with the planet with healthful eating and fresh, well-prepared dishes.”1. The underlined word “in” in Paragraph 4 is similar in meaning to ______.A. successfulB. fashionableC. tastyD. healthful5Don't talk to me...RIDING a London subway, a person from China will notice one major difference: in London, people do not look at each other. In fact, eye contact is avoided at all times. That's not rudeness –people are just too busy to bother looking.Busy doing what, you ask? Well, they're certainly not using the time for a moment of quiet reflection (沉思). Nor are they reading a book. New technology has replaced quiet habits. Today the only acceptable form of book on the London Underground is an e-book.Apple must earn a fortune from London commuters Since the launch of the iPhone in 2007, over 40,000 –yes, that's 40,000 –“apps” (programs downloaded for the iPhone) have been designed. Commuters love them because they are the perfect time-filler. One “app”, called iShoot, is a game that features tanks. Another one, Tube Exits, tells passengers where to sit on the train to be closest to the exit of their destination (目的地). ISteam clouds the iPhone screen when you breathe into the microphone. You can then write in the “steam” on your phone screen. For those without an iPhone, another Apple product, the iPod, may be the distraction (消遣) of choice. It's not just teenagers who “plug in” to their music – iPods are a popular way to pass the time for all ages. And if games, e-books and music aren't enough to keep you occupied, then perhaps you would prefer a film? The development of palm (掌上) DVD technology means many commuters watch their favorite TV show or film on the way to work. With all this distraction, it's amazing that people still remember to get off the train.5. People in London do not make eye contact on the subway because they are busy ______.A. going to workB. reading bookC. thinking private thoughtD. playing games, reading e-books, listening to music or watching film6. Those who like war games can download ______ to their iPhones.A. iShootB. Tube ExitsC. iSteamD. iPod7. The underlined word “occupied” in the last paragraph probably means ______.A. delightedB. busyC. amusedD. controlled8. The article tells us that ______.A. London commuters are unfriendly to strangerB. Apple has earned a lot of money from selling 40,000 appsC. technology is changing how London commuters spend their traveling timeD. with all the new time-fillers, London commuters often forget to get off the train6E-books step it upBOOKLOVERS, most of them, will tell you what a pleasure it is to lend a favorite read to a friend – the novel you stayed up all night to get to the end of; the travel book that made you feel as if you yourself were on a train ride through India. For a while it seemed that e-book users were to be denied this pleasure of lending to friends. You could buy a book or magazine for your reading device (装置), but you couldn''t lend it out.But now, with the Nook, the US book chain Barnes and Noble''s response to Amazon''s Kindle, electronic readers will be able to press their latest literary enthusiasm on their friends, just like readers of physical books can. You simply email the book from your Nook and your friend can read it for two weeks, using any device with the Barnes & Noble e-book reader software. It''s a big improvement from previous e-book readers. The Nook offers other features too. You read in black and white on the main screen, just like with Kindle. The difference is that on the lower part of the device there''s a color touch screen. It allows you to flip (翻页) through a book or magazine, but goes black when you''re not using it so that you save power.Another exciting thing about the Nook is that it offers Wi-Fi (无线上服务), arguably (可论证地) a big advance on previous e-book readers. Customers in the United States can use the Internet connection to read whole e-books at Barnes and Noble''s hundreds of bookstores for free. None of Barnes and Noble''s competitors can come close to this. But the Nook, ironically (讽刺地), might just turn out to be a money-loser for Barnes and Noble, or at least a job-loser for Barnes and Noble''s employees. According to Marian Maneker at The Big Money Website, if the Nook is successful it might take sales from the company''s bookstores, eventually forcing their closure and the loss of thousands of jobs.
