Newspaper and Magazine Reading Final Project
Objective: Use your imagination to develop a new magazine and its content.
Part One:
Working independently, you will write a 300-400 word proposal for a new magazine.
(50 points)
Your proposal must answer the following questions:
1.What type of magazine is it?
2.Why did you choose to create this type of magazine?
3.What is the primary purpose of the magazine?
4.What is the primary content of the magazine?
5.Who is the target audience?
6.How will you attract your audience to buy your magazine?
7.How much will each issue cost? Why?
8.How often will it be published? (once a week, moth, year?)
9.What kinds of products are advertised in this magazine? Why?
10.How will your magazine be different from other, similar magazines?
Part Two:
Working independently, you will design the cover of your new magazine. I should be able to understand the type and content of the magazine based on the cover. Use existing magazine covers to serve as your examples. (10 points)
Part Three:
Working independently, you will design two example advertisements that could appear in your magazine. The designs must be original – your own ideas, not ads copied from the internet. You may draw, paint, or design your ads on the computer.
You must include one hard sell and one soft sell advertisement. You must also identify the advertising method used (transfer, testimonial, bandwagon, etc). (40 points)
The final project must be typed, printed, and stapled together. Any evidence of copying content from the internet will result in a failing grade.
The completed project is due on the last day of class (Dec 25, 27).
Your reward for completing the project is a Christmas party. No project, no party, no grade.。
