Ⅰ.阅读理解A(2019·广东模考)We have all been there. In a rush to leave the house we grab our phones ahead out of the door, realizing all too late that the battery is dead because we forgot to plug it into the table cloth. Or perhaps we have not. But this could be in future that scientists hope to explore with electronic sheets that charge our mobile phones, laptops and other equipment by harvesting energy from the world around us.In a step in that direction, scientists at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have created superthin, bendy materials that absorb wireless Internet and other electromagnetic waves in the air and turn them into electricity. The lead researcher, Tomas Palacios, said the breakthrough smoothed the way for energyharvesting covers ran ging from table cloths to giant packing for buildings that catch energy from the environment to power sensors and other electronics.Palacios and his colleagues connected a bendy antenna (天线) to a flexible semiconductor (半导体) layer only three atoms thick. The antenna picks up wifi and other radio frequency signals and turns them into a current. This flows into a special semiconductor, where it is changed into a direct electrical current. Researchers have made energyharvesting “rectennas (整流天线)” before, but existing equipment is made from conventional semiconductors which are inflexible, fragile and practically impossible to make in large sheets. The wifi signals can fill an office with more than 100 microwatts of power that is ripe to be collected by ener gyharvesting equipment. The MIT system has an efficiency (效率) of between 30% and 40%,producing about 40 microwatts when exposed to signals bearing 150 microwatts of power in laboratory tests. “It doesn't sound like much compared with the 60 watts that a c omputer needs, but you can still do a lot with it,” Palacios said. “You can design a wide range of sensors, for environmental monitoring or chemical and biological sensing, which operate at the single microwatt level.”Medical equipment is another potentia l application. Because wifi and similar radiofrequency signals pass through people, energyharvesting covers could be applied to implanted sensors to provide them with enough power to send out health data to an outside receiver.篇章导读:本文是一篇说明文,介绍了一种类似桌布的能量收集罩。

Roosevelt Fireplace CabinsBGrowing up,I thought math class was something to be endured, not enjoyed.I disliked memorizing formulas(公式)and taking tests, all for the dull goal of getting a good grade. One of my teachers told my mother that I was "slow".But my problem wasn't with math itself. In fact, when a topic seemed particularly interesting,I would go to the library and read more about it.By high school,no one told me that I could become a professional mathematician. What I wanted to do then was to play college football. My ambition was to get an athletic scholarship to attend a Big Ten school. The chances of that happening were very low.But that didn't stop my coaches from encouraging me to believe I could reach my goal, and preparing and pushing me to work for it.They made video tapes of my performances and sent them to college coaches around the country. In the end,a Big Ten school,Penn State, did offer me a scholarship.I wish math teachers were more like football coaches.Students are affected by more than just the quality of a lesson plan. They also respond to the passion of their teachers and the engagement of their peers, and they seek a sense of purpose. They benefit from specific instructions and constant feedback(反馈).Until I got to college,I didn't really know what mathematics was.I still thought of it as laborious(耗时费力的)calculations. Then my professor handed me a book and suggested that I think about a particular problem. It wasn't easy, but it was fascinating. My professor kept giving me problems, and I kept pursuing them, even though I couldn't always solve them immediately. The mathematical research I was doing had little in common with what I did in my high school classrooms.Instead,it was closer to the math and logic puzzles I did on my own as a boy.It gave me that same sense of wonder and curiosity, and it rewarded creativity.I am now a Ph.D candidate in mathematics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.4.Why did the writer think math class in school was "something to be endured" before entering college?A. Because he wasn't interested in math.B. Because his math teachers didn't care to push him.C. Because he was too smart and talented for math class.D. Because he was training hard for an athletic scholarship.5.According to the writer, students are affected by the following things from teachers orcoachesEXCEPT ______ .A. a sense of purposeB. constant feedbackC. passionD. specific instructions6.We can conclude that after entering college, the writer ______ .A. was busy looking for math problems to solveB. studied on his own just as he was in high schoolC. met with laborious calculations in his studiesD. began to realize what mathematics really is7.What is the best title for the text?A. Interest is the best teacherB. Be the best-you can make itC. Math, taught like footballD. Once your teacher, always your teacherCRecently I rolled into a local restaurant to try an Impossible Burger,an all-plant patty(人造肉饼)invented by Impossible Foods. It's well known for having an strangely chewy(有咀嚼感),even bloody,meat-like quality,a surprising verisimilitude(逼真)that has made it "perhaps the country's most famous burger," as New York magazine wrote. One bite into its wonderful, smoky taste and, damn,I was convinced. This is good news, because the time has come to consume fake meat.In the fight against climate change, meat replacement is something we can try.A University of Oxford study recently found that,to keep global warming below 2 degrees this century,we need to be eating 75 percent less beef and 90 percent less pork. However, diets are culturally enshrined,so changing them will be hard.It isn't easy to replace 75 to 90percent of beef and pork with fake meat. The first taste of an Impossible Burger-a moment when low expectations work a powerful magic in the product's favor-is one thing. But how do you keep meat-eaters asking for more after their sixth, and their 26th?To get to true mass adoption, fake meat will need to compete favorably with the real thing on multiple fronts.Impossible Foods' goal is to drive the price of its product below that of Safeway's 80/20 hamburger meat,at which point people will simply vote with their wallets. The new industry also wants to improve on animal flesh in various ways.Fake meat has an advantage over traditional meat because "you won't need to refrigerate it" cofounder Niko Koffeman says.Plus, custom(定制的)production could improve choice."You could have very soft and tender meat for elderly people," Koffeman adds."You could have a tailored meat for whatever you need."You can tell the world is shifting this way, because the ranchers(牧场主)are nervous.Last year, the US Cattlemen's Association asked the government to define "meat" as a product "coming directly from animals." That anxiety-and the power of the science driving it-goes to show that this grand shift isn't impossible.8.According to passage, the author was convinced by the Impossible Burger because ______ .A. it has a special taste that is different from normal ones.B. it contains all non-meat materials that taste like meat.C. more vegetables are used as main materials for the burger.D. one bite of this burger can provide people with the energy needed for a whole day.9.What does the author mean by saying "Diets are culturally enshrined"?A. That people think their diet is the best in the world.B. That people are unwilling to go against their culture by changing their diets.C. That people's preference for food is linked to the food choice available to them.D. That people's eating habits are consistently observed and closely connected with their culture.10.Which of the following statements is true about the advantages that fake meat will have to beat overtraditional meat?A. Fake meat will not be necessarily stored in a refrigerator.B. The price of fake meat will be just one-fourth of traditional meat's.C. Fake meat will win over older people thanks to its tender and soft taste.D. Fake meat will own a taste that is not found in traditional meat.11.What can we infer from the last paragraph?A. Meat must come from animals.B. The world will probably embrace the idea of fake meat.C. The ranchers are suffering economic loss due to fake meat.D. The definition of meat has been changed because of fake meat.DA new study has found the amount of antibiotics(抗生素)given to farm animals is expected to increase by two-thirds over the next 15 years.Researchers are linking the growing dependence on the drugs to the increasing need for meat, milk and eggs. However, the drugs could quicken the development of antibiotic-resistant infections(感染).Such infections are already a major public, health concern in the United States. The World Health Organization notes when people stop living in poverty(贫困),the first thing they want to do is eat better, rather than earn more money. For most people, that means their diet should contain more meat. With the rapid development of Asia, people there are eating nearly four times as much meat, milk and other milk products as they did 50 year ago.To meet the need, farmers have put many animals into smaller spaces. As the animals are crowded together, the easiest way to deal with some of the problems d crowding is to give them antibiotics. It's clear that antibiotics help animals stay healthy in a crowded environment and grow faster. But bacteria can develop resistance to the drugs gradually.Nowadays, doctors find antibiotics that once worked against the infections no longer work. The bacteria have learned ways to fight against the drugs. The heavy use of antibiotics in animals is responsible for the growth of antibiotic resistance worldwide. In the United States,at least two million people get drug-resistant infections each year and at least 23,000 die from an infection.Europe has banned the use of antibiotics to increase animal growth. And the United States is hoping to persuade farmers to stop using antibiotics for that purpose.12.What accounts for the increasing amount of antibiotics given to farm animals?A. The desire for new drugs.B. The less effective antibiotics.C. The outdated farm technology.D. The need for more various foods.13.What do most people want to do first when they get rid of poverty according to the WHO?A. Making a lot of money.B. Focusing more on health.C. Having more meat in their diet.D. Living in a better environment.14.What can be inferred from the passage?A. Antibiotics do harm to animals.B. Antibiotics help animals stay healthy.C. Antibiotics are used heavily in Europe.D. Antibiotic-resistant bacteria spread to people.15.What's the passage mainly about?A. A new way of raising farm animals.B. The advantages of using antibiotics.C. The reason for banning the use of antibiotics.D. The negative effect of antibiotics in farm animals.二、阅读七选五(本大题共5小题,共10.0分)Do you think studying in a different country is something that sounds very exciting?Certainly,it is a new experience, which brings the opportunity of discovering fascinating things and a feeling of freedom.(1) You will experience culture shock.Evidently,at least four essential stages of culture-shock adjustment occur. The first stage is called "the honeymoon".In this stage, you feel excitement about living in a different place, and everything seems to be marvelous.(2)Eventually,however,the second stage of culture shock appears. This is the "hostility stage".(3) You become tired of many things about the new culture. Moreover, people don't treat you like a guest anymore.Everything that seemed to be so wonderful at first is now awful, and everything makes you feel distressed and tired. Then you come to the third stage called "recovery".You start feeling more positive, and you try to develop comprehension of everything you don't understand. The whole situation starts to become morefavorable.(4)The last stage of culture shock is called "adjustment".(5) The things that initially made you feel uncomfortable or strange are now things that you understand. Now you feel comfortable;you have adjusted to the new culture.A.Actually,culture shock is something you cannot avoid when studying in a foreign country.B.You have reached a point where you feel good because you have learned enough to understand the new culture.C.You like everything, and everybody seems to be so nice to you.D.You recover from the symptoms of the first two stages.E.In spite of these advantages, however, there are also some challenges you will encounter.F.However,when you have completely adjusted to a new culture you can more fully enjoy it.G.You begin to notice that not everything is as good as you had originally thought it was.16. (2020·北京海淀一模)Is there a link between social media and depression? Do social media have a negative impact on your mental health? It’s plicated. In a recent study, the investigators pared social media use and depression between teens. 1 Specifically, for every hour per day that one teen spent on social media more than her peers, she likely had a 0.64point higher depression score.A different study published in 2018 identified five distinct types of social media users. The finding was that “problematic social media use”was one of the main themes for people whose mental health was affected by social media. You can have alcohol in your life without it being a problem,or your alcohol use may bee problematic. 2There’s one important thing to remember about survey research—just because two things happen together,it’s not necessarily true that one causes the other. 3 For all we know,it could be that people who are already more depressed choose to spend more time on social media.4 If you think that we shouldn’t paint social media with one broad brush, you’re on the right track. On the one hand, participants often described social media as a valuable way to cope with stress. On the other hand, cyberbullying via social media was also a mon experience for participants. Some also said that constantly checking their own social media profile was stressful. It’s certainly possible that experiences like cyberbullying, paring yourself to idealized images, and constantly monitoring your profile, are bad for your mood. It’s also true for many that social media offer munity support and positive messages.Given the inconclusive research,it’s safe to say that at least we shouldn’t write off social media altogether. 5 Anyway, you cannot use it as a crutch for coping with other stressors and mental health problems.A.It’s the same with social media.B.Social media can be a doubleedged sword.C.People get more opinionated about the potential problems of social media.D.They found that those who used social media more had higher depression scores.E.They reviewed all existing research and found that there were both benefits and drawbacks.F.The key to benefiting from social media may lie in using it in moderation and stayingsocially connected.G.For example, just because higher social media use cooccurs with higher levels of depression doesn’t mean social media use causes depression.【答案】 1.D 2.A 3.G 4.B 5.F【解析】这是一篇说明文。

题型重组练(二)(建议用时:25分钟)Ⅰ.阅读理解A(2019·洛阳第二次统考)There is more of a connection between foodand culture than you may think. On an individual level, we grow up eatingthe food of our culture. It becomes a part of who we are. Many associatefood from our childhood with warm feelings and good memories and it tiesus to our families, holding a special and personal value for us. Food fromour family often becomes the comfort food we seek as adults in times of frustration and stress. On a large scale, traditional food is an important part of culture. It also operates as an expression of culture identity. Immigrants bring it wherever they go, and it is a symbol of pride for their culture and means of coping with homesickness. Many immigrants open their own restaurants and serve traditional dishes. However, the food does not remain exactly the same. Some materials needed to make traditional dishes may not be readily available, so the taste and flavor can be different from what they would prepare in their home countries. Additionally, immigrants do not only sell dishes to people from the same countries as them, but to people from different countries. Therefore, they have to make small changes about the original dishes to cater to a wider range of customers. Those changes can create new flavors that still keep the cultural significance of the dishes. We should embrace our heritage(传统) through our culture’s food but also become more informed about other cultures by trying their food. It is important to remember that each dish has a special place in the culture to which it belongs, and is special to those who prepare it. Food is a window into culture, and it should be treated as such.1.What’s the function of food mentioned in the text?A.To help motivate homesickness.B.To show national identity.C.To reflect a country’s history.D.To show a community’s superiority.2.What does the underlined word “it”in paragraph 2 refer to?A.The specific traditional food.B.The national culture.C.A traditional expression of food.D.The old-fashioned taste.3.Why do some immigrants have to change the original dishes in their restaurant?A.To attach cultural importance to their dishes.B.To announce the beginning of their life on foreign soil.C.To make the dishes popular among customers.D.To present their own food culture in a new way.4.What’s the author’s attitude towards different food cultures?A.Negative.B.Balanced.C.Unfair. But unnecessarypurchasing, and the mass production of clothing, aren’t just hard on our wallets—they are hard on the environment. One of the first steps in getting unwanted clothes out of your cupboard is to sell or consign(寄送) them. But because popular resale shops like Buffalo Exchange and Crossroads don’t accept fast fashion brands because they don’t profit enough from them, people often turn to throwing their old clothing in the dustbins. Many consumers don’t realize that clothing and textiles(纺织品) are recyclable or how to recycle them. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the United States generated 16.22 million tons of waste textiles in 2017 and recycled only 2.62 million tons. Ten and a half million tons of textiles were finally buried under the ground that year.Vetements, a Parisian fashion brand worn by celebrities like Kanye West and Rihanna, aimed to bring awareness to the problem of fast fashion brands and clothing waste with a recent window display at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York. The window contained a giant pile of clothes. The pile, which grew daily, was made up of old clothes donated by Saks employees and outofseason items from the store. On Aug.10, the clothing from the display was donated to RewearAble, a Long Island recycling program that collects old clothes and textiles, and prepares them for resale or repurposes the textiles.5.What keeps customers coming back to fast fashion brands like Forever 21, H&M and Zara?A.Good shopping environment.B.Discounts and promotional activities.C.Warm and thoughtful service of the salesmen.D.Low prices and a continuous supply of new looks.6.Where can you find the data that best supports “fast fashion is hard on the environment”?A.In paragraph 2.B.In paragraph 3.C.In paragraph 4.D.In paragraph 5.7.What can be learned about the window display created by Vetements?A.It can help the environment.B.It does good to people’s health.C.It can help change people’s lives.D.It will take the lead in the latest fashion.8.What is the best title for the text?A.How to Stop Buying Unnecessary ClothesB.Fast Fashion Brands Spread Around the WorldC.The Advantages and Disadvantages of Fast FashionD.Fast Fashion Can Kill Your Wallet and the EnvironmentⅡ.七选五Many people struggle with saying “No”. 1.________ Remember, just because you can do something does not mean it is required. 高考题型重组练(二)Ⅰ.阅读理解A[2020·郑州市第三次质量检测] I was 11 years old when I asked my mom for piano lessons in 2010. We were in financial trouble, so she said politely, “Sorry, son, but we can't now.”I searched the measurements on the Internet for a keyboard, drew the keys on a piece of paper and stuck it on my desk. I would click notes on an online keyboard and “play” them back on my paper one — keeping the sound they made on the computer in my head. I spent six months playing without touching a real piano. Once my mom saw that I was serious, she borrowed money and bought me 10 lessons.I still remember the first one. I was struck by how real the sound of the piano was. I sat my Grade 1 after eight lessons. Once I started secondary school, we couldn't afford lessons again. I passed Grade 3, and then Grade 5, practicing only on my piece of paper. One evening, when I was about 13, my mom said she had a surprise for me —it was an electronic keyboard, bought with more borrowed money. It was the first time that I played for her and she was in shock. My school didn't offer music A-level. I found The Purcell School for young musicians, but the tryouts were difficult. Some of the questions even involved an evaluation of the composer. I was at a loss. But to my amazement, I was offered a place. At Purcell, I spent two years working as hard as I could. I performed to raise money and saved enough to buy my first piano. When I left Purcell, I was awarded the senior piano prize and academic music prize. I'm now at the Guildhall School of Drama & Music in London. I feel proud -it's been 10 years since I drew my paper piano, and I'm at one of the world's leading music schools.Surprisingly, I continue to do a lot of my practice away from the piano, which we call mental practice. The paper piano helped promote my curiosity about how music works.1.Why did the mother buy the author piano lessons?A.She believed he had a talent for piano.B.She found he was eager to learn piano.C.She was shocked by his first performance.D.She got out of her family's financial difficulties.2.Which of the following words best describes the author?A.Honest. B.Cautious.C.Clever. D.Determined.3.What might be the best title for the passage?A.Mental practice makes perfectB.Paper piano leads me to successC.Mother supports my music careerD.Hard times make my dream come trueB[2020·昆明市“三诊一模”高考模拟考试] When our Scottish puppy (幼犬) reached doggie adolescence, she suddenly stopped obeying my commands. Our dog trainer advised us to stop worrying. “She's a teenager,” she said. “She'll grow out of it.”Now, a new study is backing that up: Dogs experience an extremely sensitive period at the beginning of adolescence that makes them act out, just like human teenagers. To see exactly how adolescence changes dog behavior, the researchers monitored 70 female German shepherds raised as potential guide dogs. They asked caregivers to score the puppies on their attachment and attention-seeking behavior, such as sitting very close to their owner or displaying a particularly strong bond for one person.Dogs with high scores on either scale entered adolescence earlier — at about 5 months, compared with 8 months for those with lower scores. Various reasons cause human teenage girls with poor parental relationships to also enter adolescence at a younger age. Thus, similar to humans, dogs that have tense relationships with their caregivers see changes in their reproductive development. To test obedience (顺从), the scientists assessed a separate group of 69 guide dogs, first at 5 months and later at 8 months. They asked the dog's caregiver and a stranger to give the command to “sit”. All of the preadolescent puppies quickly sat for both people, but when the same puppies reached adolescence, many “repeatedly”refused to follow the order from their caregiver. However, they readily and annoyingly obeyed the stranger. Dogs that weren't securely attached to their caregivers were even more willing to follow the stranger's commands -again, much like human teenagers.Because of the similarities between adolescent puppies and humans, dogs could serve as a model species for studying adolescence in humans, the scientists say. And on a more practical note, the temporary nature of dog disobedience might make us worry less when our puppies suddenly get minds of their own.4.What makes the Scottish puppy disobey its owner?A.Its being treated badly.B.Its naughty nature.C.Its relation with the owner.D.Its being adolescent.5.What do the scores in the study suggest?A.Higher scores probably mean earlier adolescence.B.The lower the score, the tenser the relationship.C.A puppy with a lower score could be a guide dog.D.A girl scoring higher gets on well with her parents.6.What is the result of the obedience test?A.Human teens have a strong bond with puppies.B.Puppies enter adolescence at the age of 5 months old.C.The 69 guide dogs can understand caregivers well.D.Adolescent dogs without enough care prefer to follow the stranger.7.What's the potential significance of the study?A.To understand your dog's behavior.B.To better study human adolescence.C.To show the process of research.D.To help pet owners solve a puzzle.Ⅱ.七选五[2020·潍坊市高三第一学期期末] Travelling with friends can be an absolutely amazing experience where you could make lifelong memories or it could end up ruining your friendship. __1__ Here are some rules you should follow to make sure your next trip with friends goes as smoothly as possible.•__2__ Sure, you and your friends probably have some similar interests, but that's not always the case. 高考题型重组练(二)Ⅰ.阅读理解A[2019·黑龙江省质量检测]“If you are cold, it will warm you; if you are too heated, it will cool you; if you are depressed, it will cheer you; if you are exhausted, it will calm you.” The poem best identifies the passion for tea in Britain. Outside of the United Kin gdom, many people refer to afternoon tea as “high tea”. Afternoon tea, also known as low tea, is what most people think of when they hear “high tea”. It involves things like manners, lace (蕾丝) and light meals such as cookies and finger sandwiches. It is ty pically served in the midafternoon and it was traditionally served on low tables, hence its two names.Legend has it that afternoon tea was started in the mid1800s by the Duchess of Bedford. Around that time, kerosene (煤油) lamps were introduced into wealthier homes and eating a late dinner (around 8 or 9 p.m.) became fashionable. This increasingly late dinner was one of the only two meals each day, and the other was a midmorning one. The story goes that the Duchess found herself with a “sinking feeling”. This came from hunger during the long wait between meals. She decided to invite friends over for various snacks and tea. The idea of an afternoon tea gathering spread across high society and became a favorite pastime of females for leisure. Later, it spread to other social groups. However, the British working population did not have afternoon tea. They had a meal about midday, and a meal after work, between five and seven o'clock. This meal was called “high tea” or just “tea”. Traditionally eaten early eve ning, high tea was a substantial meal that combined delicious sweet food, such as cookies, cakes or tea bread, with heavy food, such as cheese on toast, cold meats and poached eggs on toast. This meal is now often replaced with a supper due to people eating their main meal in the evening rather than at midday.体裁:说明文题材:社会文化主题:英国的下午茶【语篇解读】本文用一首诗歌引出话题,然后通过传说介绍了英国下午茶的来历。

B[2019·四川省诊断]“Hope has proved a power ful predictor of outcome in every study we've done so far,” said Dr. Snyder, a psychologist. In a study with 3,920 college students, Dr. Snyder found that the level of hope among freshmen at the beginning of their first term was a more accurate predictor of their college grades than their SAT scores or their grade point averages in high school. “Students with high hope set themselves higher goals and know how to work to attain them,” Dr. Snyder said. “When you compare the equal learning ability and past school achievements of students, you will find that what sets them apart is hope.”In seeking a way to assess hope scientifically, Dr. Snyder went beyond the usual belief that hope is merely the sense that everything will turn out all right. “This idea is not concrete enough; it fails to clarify two key components of hope,” Dr. Snyder said. “Having hope means believing you have both the will and the way to accomplish your goals, whatever they may be.”Despite the wisdom in the old saying “where there's a will, there's a way”,Dr. Snyder has found that the two are not necessarily connected. In a study of people from 18 to 70 years old, Dr. Snyder discovered: only about 40% of people were hopeful in the technical sense of believing they typically had the energy and means to accomplish their goals; about 20% of the people believed in their ability to find the means to attain their goals, but said they had little will to do so; another 20% had the opposite pattern, saying they had the energy to motivate themselves but little confidence that they would find the means; the rest had little hope at all, reporting that they typically had neither the will nor the way.“It's not enough just to have the wish for something,” said Dr. Snyder. “You need the means, too. On the other hand, all the skills to solve a problem won't help without the willpower to do it.”体裁:说明文题材:文化教育主题:希望是成功的动力【语篇解读】心理学家通过研究发现:怀有希望的人在学习上会取得更好的结果,而怀有希望代表相信自己兼具实现目标的方法和意志。
