How to be a successful negotiator

With China’s accession to the word trade organization,the international trade and foreign relations increasing frequently, and all kinds of business activities show it’s important position in the social, political and economic life .business activities cannot leave the business negotiation, business negotiation is the main contents and means of the business activities and it’s also a process of mutual coordination and mutual aid, then achieved the common goals. So, business negotiation related to the success or failure of the business activities and the survival and development of enterprises, in other words, a successful negotiation is very important to any enterprise, but how to be a successful negotiation?

International business negotiation is a comprehensive art. Firstly, it request the negotiators must have international business activities comprehensive and basic shills. A successful business negotiator must be familiar with the basic knowledge of the international trade and the business culture, and he should master the negotiation skills, such as, how to welcome and introduction? How to deal with conflict? Secondly, good state of mind is also very important to a successful negotiator, respect and trust is critical to the successful negotiation. In the process of negotiation, the negotiators should realize the main purpose

and essence of the negotiation, and to be a good listener. Then, a good negotiator should understand each other’s negotiation culture, training analysis ablity, and find a good method to do an effective communication.

However, what should a successful negotiator do in the process of actual negotiation? This is the most important factor to a successful negotiator.

1.Good preparation before the negotiation. As we all know, a good preparation must be done before the negotiation if you want to control the negotiation, it includes several aspects, first, you should know your aim, second .you should know the other party’s negotiation culture and what strategy you want to use in the process of the negotiation, third, what issues do you want to discuss beforehand? The last preparing and making opening introduction.

2. Setting the agenda. the negotiator who should be responsible for chairing the negotiation should setting an agenda, because a good agenda can make negotiation sequencing and linking, at the same time ,it can help the negotiators control the negotiation process.

3. The negotiators should establishing and clarifying the positions. such as , presenting your position ,asking for and giving feedback, establishing positions ,in addition, you should make an active listening and asking effective questions and showing you interest at the right time .
