2.The principle for banks checking documents
Since the buyer and the seller are located in different countries, goods and documents can not be directly exchanged face to face. The In int’l payment, the principle of payment is on basis of conformity between documents and L/C and conformity among various documents.
Section 2 The position of documentation in export trade
1. Using documents exchange as the way for transaction Int’l trade refers to the exchange of goods and proceeds between the buyer and the seller across countries’ boundaries. Now, documentary credits and collection have become the main means for exchange of goods and proceeds. Without documents, there would be no int’l trade.
3.Documents are the basis for international payment
▪ Among modern int’l trade, documents can’t be substituted for by any other things. After the seller has fulfilled his obligation to deliver, he should present required documents to bank for his payment. Without qualified documents required by business contract or documentary credits, the seller would not get the relevant payment from issuing bank.

国际贸易是国际间商品的买卖。但由于 买卖双方处在不同的国家、地区，商品 与货币不能简单地直接交换，而必须以 单证作为交换的手段。因此国际贸易又 称单据买卖。
第二节 单证工作在出口工作 中的地位
在国际结算信用证业务中，单据是基础 和依据，银行审单的依据是“单证相符， 单单一致”。按照国际商会《跟单信用 证统一惯例》（UCP600）2007年修订本 第5条规定：“在信用证业务中，银行处 理的是单据，而不是单据所涉及到的货 物、服务或履约行为”。
第五节 单据制作应遵循的法 律惯例和规则
与单证工作有密切关系的国际惯例还有：《跟 单信用证统一惯例》（出版物600）（Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits (UCP), ICC Publication No.600）、 《托收统一规则》（出版物522）（Uniform Rules for Collection (URC), ICC Publication No.522）、《2000国际贸易术语解释通则，简 称“2000 年通则”》（International Rules for the Interpretation of Trade Terms —— INCOTERMS 2000）、E-UCP等。
一、货、证、船的相互衔接 按照合同规定，对外催开信用证的同时，对内抓紧备 货。备货质量合格、包装完好、符合信用证的要求； 收到信用证后经过审核，符合合同的规定。这时可按 照信用证的要求和工厂提供的交货单缮制发货凭证— —出仓单（或称提货单，是向仓库或工厂提货的凭 证），随着企业电子化管理的发展，外销出仓单通常 以电子报文出货的形式完成。货与证是否相符，关键 在这一单证的填制是否正确。同时还应注意与船公司 进行联系，发出托运单,掌握必要的运输工具的信息， 切实做到货、证、船的相互衔接。

2.Features of export documents
(1) Datamation of commodities
Modern business is symbolic delivery.After the seller has delivered the goods, he must present the documents(title to the goods) to the bank for fulfillment of business contract.On the other hand, the buyer should effect the payment for getting the documents in order to take delivery at port of destination. The main reason is that the documents represent the actual goods. Generally speaking, all export documents involves two functions, such as one possessing commodity attributes or representing commodity value, packing and quality, or presenting the quantity and place of origin. The others act as currency attributes, or directly used for the function of payment.
