一、Teaching Aims:

1. Knowledge Objects:

1) Function: Describe people’s looks

2)Key Vocabulary: curly, straight, tall, medium, thin, heavy, build, height

3)Target Languages:

—What does she look like?

—She has long straight hair.

—What does he look like?

—He’s tall/short /of medium height.

—What does your friend look like?

—He /She has long straight hair/short hair. He /She is of medium build.

—Is he tall or short?

—He is tall. /He is short.

2 .Ability Objects:

1) The students can listen and understand what a person looks like.

2) The students can describe people’s appearance using the words and phrases above.

3.Moral Objects:

Through the activities of talking about people’s looks, students can learn to respect and understand others and not to judge the person from their appearance.

三、Teaching Procedures

Ⅰ. Warming-up and revision

Play a game with the teacher. (Do it after the teacher.)

Eyes eyes, touch the eyes;

Nose nose, touch the nose;

Mouth mouth, touch the mouth;

Hair hair, touch the hair.

Teacher: Just now, we review some words about our body. Today ,we’ll talk about people’s looks.

Ⅱ. Presentation (Section A 1a)

1.Present main words and target languages (Show some pictures of

celebrities to the students.)

Look at these pictures and learn the new words and target languages.

curly hair She has curly hair.

long hair She has long hair.

straight hair She has straight hair.

She has long straight hair.

short hair He has short hair.

heavy He is heavy.

(be) of medium build He is of medium build.

thin He is thin.

tall He is tall.

(be) of medium height He is of medium height.

short He is short.

2. Pick out several students as the models and ask them to answer the

question.

Question: What does he/she look like? (Ask students to describe people’s looks using the target languages.

Ⅲ. Practice (Section A 1c)

1. Read the conversation and recite it.

2. Practice like the conversation according to the picture in 1a. Ⅳ. Listening (1b)

1. Look at the picture of 1a, listen and fill the blanks in the picture. (1b)

Listen carefully and fill in the blanks and find Amy’s friend? We will listen twice.The first time, just listen.The second time,listen and fill in the blanks.And say the look of Amy’s friend.( He's really tall.And he has curly hair.)

2.Check their answers.

3.Explain these sentences in details.
