Introduction。
The argumentative essay is a genre of writing that requires the student to investigate a topic, collect, generate, and evaluate evidence, and establish a position on the topic in a concise manner. This type of essay is commonly assigned as a capstone or final project in first year writing or advanced composition courses and involves lengthy, detailed research. Extensive research is required to ensure the essay is comprehensive and convincing.Body Paragraph 1: The Pro Argument。
One of the primary arguments in favor of the argumentative essay is that it allows students to develop critical thinking skills. In the process of researching and writing the essay, students must evaluate sources, considermultiple perspectives, and construct a logical, well-reasoned argument. This exercise helps students hone their ability to think critically and make informed decisions, skills that are invaluable in both academic and professional settings. Moreover, the argumentative essay encourages students to engage deeply with a topic and develop a nuanced understanding of complex issues. Rather than simply restating facts or opinions, students must synthesize information from various sources, identify patterns and contradictions, and formulate an original, evidence-based argument. This level of intellectual engagement fosters a deeper appreciation for the subject matter and helps students become more critical and discerning consumers of information.Body Paragraph 2: The Con Argument。

Sound Argumentation1.
3.concession。
Case 1:The argument is well-presented, but not thoroughly well-reasoned.By making a comparison of the city of, the city Wuhan with the higher speed limit and therefore automobile accidents, with the city of Beijing, an area of a lower speed limit and subsequently fewer accidents, the argument for reducing Wuhan’s speed limits in order to decrease accidents seems logical. However, the citizens of Wuhan are failing to consider other possible alternatives to the increasing car accidents after the raise in speed limit. Such alternatives may include the fact that there are fewer reliable car traveling the roads in Beijing, or that the age bracket of those in Wuhan may be more conductive to driving safely. It is possible that there are more younger, inexperienced, or more elderly, unsafe drivers in Beijing than there are in Wuhan. In addition, the citizens have failed to consider the geographical and physical terrain of the two different areas. Perhaps Wuhan’s highway is in an area of more dangerous curves, sharp turns, or has many intersections or merging points where accidents are more likely to occur. It appears reasonable, therefore, for the citizens to focus on these trouble spots than to reduce the speed in the entire area. Beijing may be in an area of easier driving conditions where accidents are less likely to occur regardless of the speed limit.Overall, the reasoning behind decreasing Wuhan’s speed limit back to its original seems logical as presented above since the citizens are acting in their own best interests and want to protect their safety. However, before any final decisions are made about the reduction in speed limit, the citizens and officials of Wuhan should evaluate all possible alternatives and causes for the increased number of accidents over the six-month period as compared to Beijing.Sample 2This loan applicant claims that a jazz club in X city would be a protfitable venture. To support this claim the applicant points out that X city has no other jazz clubs. He also cites various other evidence that jazz is popular among X residents. Careful examination of this supporting evidence, however, reveals that it lends little credible support to the applicant’s claim.First of all, if the demand for a live jazz club in X city were as great as the applicant claims, it seems that X would already have one or more such clubs. The fact that the closest jazz club is 65 miles away suggests a lack of interest among X residents in a local jazz club. Since the applicant has not adequately responded to this concern, his claim that the proposed club would be profitable is untenable. The popularity of X’s annual jazz festival and its nightly jazz radio show might appear to lend support to the applicant’s claim. However, it is entirely possible that the vast majority of festival attendees are out –of-town visitors. Moreover, the author provides no evidence that radio listeners would be interested in going out to hear live jazz. For that matter, the radio program might actually pose competition for the YY club, especially considering that the program airs during the evening.Nor does the mere fact that several well-know jazz musicians live in X city lend significant support to the applicant’s claim. It is entirely possible that these musicians perform elsewhere, perhaps at the club located 65 miles away. This would go a long way toward explaining why X does not currently have a jazz club, and it would weaken the applicants assertion that the YY club would be profitable. Finally, the nationwide study showing that the average jazz fan spends $ 1, 000 each year on jazz entertainment would lend support to the applicant’s claim only if X residents typify jazz fans nationwide. However, the applicant provides no credible evidence that this is the case.In conclusion, the loan applicant’s argument is not persuasive. To bloster it he must provide clearer evidence that X residents would patronize the YY club on a regular basis. Such evidence might include the following: statistics showing that a significant number of X residents attend the jazz festival each year: a survey showing that fans of X’s jaxx radio program would go out to hear live jazz if they had the chance: and assurances from well-known local jazz musicians that they would play at the YY if given the opportunity.。
Argument
Argument/ArgumentativeTo write an argument essay, you’ll need to gather evidence and present a well-reasoned argument on a debatable issue. How can I tell if my topic is debatable? You cannot argue a statement of fact, you must base your paper on a strong position. Ask yourself…How many people could argue against my position What would they sayCan it be addressed with a yes or no (aim for a topic that requires more info.)Can I base my argument on scholarly evidence, or am I relying on religion, cultural standards, or morality (you MUST be able to do quality research!) ?Have I made my argument specific enough? You MUST choose one side or the other when you write an argument paper!Don’t be afraid to tell others exactly how you think things should go because that’s what we expect from an argument paper. You’re in charge now, what do YOU think? Why do I need to address the opposing side’s argumentThere is an old kung-fu saying which states, "The hand that strikes also blocks", meaning that when you argue it is to your advantage to anticipate your oppositionand strike down their arguments within the body of your own paper. This sentiment is echoed in the popular saying, "The best defense is a good offense".Main body thesis :-What is your argument based on and what are your points to put forward to prove your case. Appendix:-an appendix in an essay is information not strictly necessary to the main body of the writing. It is an addition or addendum. It may contain a reference section for the reader, extra matter that is tangentially related, or a summary of the raw data or details of the method behind the work.Works Cited :-Find the necessary facts, evidence, quotes from experts, etc. to refute the points that your opposition might make。

Introduction:In today's world, argumentative essays have become a common form of writing in schools and universities. One of the most challenging types of argumentative essays is the refutation essay, where students are required to present a strong argument against a given topic or claim. In this essay, we will explore the structure and key points of writing a refutation essay.Body:1. Understanding the Topic:Before starting to write a refutation essay, it is essential to fully understand the topic or claim that is being challenged. This involves conducting thorough research and gathering evidence to support the opposing argument. It is important to approach the topic with an open mind and consider all perspectives before formulating a counter-argument.2. Developing a Strong Thesis Statement:The thesis statement of a refutation essay should clearly state the opposing viewpoint and the reasons for challenging the original claim. It should be concise and specific, providing a roadmap for the rest of the essay. The thesis statement sets the tone for the entire essay and should be supported by evidence and logical reasoning.3. Presenting Evidence:In order to effectively refute a claim, it is crucial to present strong evidence to support the opposing viewpoint. This can include citing reputable sources, statistics, expert opinions, and real-life examples. The evidence should be relevant and directly related to the topic at hand, and should be used to discredit the original claim.4. Anticipating Counter-Arguments:A well-written refutation essay should anticipate and address potential counter-arguments. This involves considering the opposing viewpoint and providing a rebuttal to weaken its validity. By acknowledging and refuting counter-arguments, the essay demonstrates a thorough understanding of the topic and presents a more convincing argument.5. Using Logical Reasoning:Logical reasoning is an essential component of a successful refutation essay. The essay should be structured in a clear and organized manner, with each point building upon the previous one. Logical reasoning helps to create a coherent and persuasive argument, and allows the reader to follow the line of thinking.6. Conclusion:In the conclusion of a refutation essay, it is important to summarize the main points and reiterate the strength of the opposing argument. The conclusion should leave a lasting impression on the reader and reinforce the validity of the refutation. It is also an opportunity to call the reader to action or further consideration of the opposing viewpoint. Conclusion:Writing a refutation essay can be a challenging but rewarding task. By understanding the topic, developing a strong thesis statement, presenting evidence, anticipating counter-arguments, using logical reasoning, and concluding effectively, students can craft a compelling refutation essay. This type of writing not only hones critical thinking skills, but also encourages students to consider multiple perspectives and engage in meaningful debate. As such, the refutation essay is an important exercise in academic writing and argumentation.。

argument-essay范文A new way to adapt to new cultureSometimes we come across an embarrassing occasion because of different customs. Sometimes we can't accept that in Japan families take turn to have a bath with the same water. Sometimes we feel confused that in China people usually gather on weekends and while in western countries people are most likely to go to the church for praying. When an individual sets out to study, live or work in a new country, he or she will invariably experience difficulties with language, housing, friends, school, work and so on. That's all because of culture differences. Owning to cultural differences, an individual would lost many opportunities to express himself effectively and his international relationship will be hindered badly. However, there is still a new way by plenty of preparations to overcome the problems adapting to the new environment.Long time ago, people have paid great attention on the cultural differences and have taken some measures to solve the problem, such as inviting foreign friends to have dinner, reading many books related to exotic literature and watching foreign movies. For example, some people who played a visit to Japan explained Chinese values and beliefs to Japanese. For instance, when my friend went out for a dinner with Japanese family, he paid the bill and explained that it just showed hospitality to do so in China. However, they had a negative attitude towards what he did because they would like to go Dutch. Virtually, insisting on one’s own cultural values and beliefs may lead to misunderstanding and make other people think we are self-centered and don’t respect their culture. So, a more effectivesolution need to betaken to figure out the problem. The most efficient solution of avoiding cultural differences is to do a perfect preparation before to be in touch with other places and persons in foreign countries. Therefore, for personal, preparing properly for a trip abroad can increase the chances of adapting to new culture successfully.Good preparation will not prevent culture shock, but it can help to make it less severe. Taking the time to learn about the new culture helps new comers to anticipate what the new experience will be like. Knowing about the culture, including history, geography, social conditions, arts and customs, is one way to increase cultural awareness and to gain an intellectual appreciation for it. As going says, good preparation is half done, only by this way can you better to blend into new culture. However, others might argue that it is not reasonable to adapt to the new environment by plenty of preparations because it takes us too much time and we can acclimatize ourselves to the new environment after we arrive there. However, as an old saying goes, plan can never keep up with the change. A survey shows that if the people do not prepare adequately, when they encounter the problem, their behavior are different from what they expect, but refusing themselves. On the contrary, the people who have a good preparation can be confident, even though they do not know how to solve the problem. Therefore, we can not emphasize the importance of preparation. In summary, problems adapting to the new environment between different cultures can be settled if you complete a detailed preparation when you go to foreign countries. What is indispensable is that you must accept foreign culturewhen you are abroad. So if you get round to make a good preparation, you will be easy to adapt to new culture in a unfamiliar place.。

Argumentation and reasoning are essential skills in both academic and everyday life. When making an argument, it is important to have a clear thesis statement and supporting evidence. The thesis statement should be concise and specific, and the evidence should be relevant and convincing. One common type of argument is the deductive argument, which uses logic to reach a conclusion. For example, "All humans are mortal, Socrates is human, therefore Socrates is mortal." This argument is deductive because the conclusion follows logically from the premises.Another type of argument is the inductive argument, which uses evidence to support a probable conclusion. For example, "Every time I have eaten at this restaurant, the food has been delicious. Therefore, it is likely that thefood will be delicious the next time I eat there." This argument is inductive because the conclusion is based on probability rather than certainty. When making an argument, it is important to consider counterarguments and address them. This shows that the argument is well-rounded and takes into account opposing viewpoints. Additionally, using rhetorical devices such as analogy, metaphor, and irony can make an argument more persuasive.

Here is an essay on the topic "Argumentative Essay Sample" with a word count exceeding 1000 words, written entirely in English without any additional title or punctuation marks in the body.Argumentative essays are a common form of academic writing that require students to investigate a topic, gather and evaluate evidence, and establish a position on the issue. These essays are designed to test a student's ability to think critically, present a well-reasoned argument, and support their claims with credible sources. Crafting a successful argumentative essay involves several key elements, including a clear thesis statement, thoughtful counterarguments, and a compelling conclusion. The foundation of any strong argumentative essay is a well-defined thesis statement. This concise, one-sentence declaration outlines the central claim or position the writer will defend throughout the paper.A good thesis statement is specific, debatable, and provides a clear direction for the essay. It should not be a simple statement of fact or a broad generalization but rather a focused argument that the writer can support with evidence.Once the thesis statement has been established, the next step is to gather and evaluate relevant evidence to support the writer's position. This evidence can come from a variety of sources, including academic journals, reputable news articles, and expert opinions. It is important to carefully examine each piece of evidence, considering its credibility, relevance, and potential counterarguments. A strong argumentative essay will present a balanced and well-rounded discussion of the issue, acknowledging and addressing any opposing viewpoints. In addition to presenting evidence in support of the thesis, the writer must also anticipate and address potential counterarguments. This demonstrates the writer's understanding of the complexities of the issue and their ability to engage in critical thinking. Addressing counterarguments also strengthens the overall argument by showing that the writer has considered alternative perspectives and is still confident in their position. The conclusion of an argumentative essay is the final opportunity for the writer to reinforce their argument and leave a lasting impression on the reader. This section should summarize the key points made throughout the essay, restate the thesis statement, and provide a clear call to action or final thoughts on the issue. A strong conclusion should leave the reader with a sense of closure and a deeper understanding of the topic. One of the most challenging aspects of writing an argumentative essay is maintaining an objective and impartial tone throughout the paper. While the writer is advocating for a particular position, they must avoid sounding biased or confrontational. Instead, the tone should be analytical, well-reasoned, and respectful of opposing viewpoints. This can be achieved through the careful selection of language, the use of evidence-based reasoning, and the acknowledgment of counterarguments.Another important consideration in argumentative essay writing is the organization and structure of the paper. A well-structured essay will guide the reader through the argument in a logical and coherent manner. This typically involves an introduction that presents the thesis statement, body paragraphs that develop the argument with supporting evidence, and a conclusion that summarizes the key points and reinforces the writer's position. In conclusion, the argumentative essay is a critical component of academic writing that challenges students to think critically, present a well-reasoned argument, and support their claims with credible evidence. By mastering the key elements of argumentative essay writing, students can develop the skills necessary to effectively communicate their ideas, engage in meaningful discourse, and contribute to the broader academic and intellectual community.。

How to...
Before Writing...
Brainstorm ideas on the subject. Identify the main topics. Use these topics as headings for organising your notes. Decide which side you are on i.e. which arguments are most convincing. Make sure you choose the side that you can fully support. Plan and write an outline for your essay noting down the information you will include in each paragraph.
Example Introductory Paragraph
There has been much discussion about the use of nuclear power ever since the first reactor was built. People who support nuclear power think that it provides a cheap and effective means of supplying energy needs. However, in reality it is not cheap at all and the dangers are well-known after the accidents at Chernobyl and Three Mile Island. The fact is that nuclear power is a tried, tested and failed technology. Because of its cost, risk and alternatives, the building of nuclear reactors should not continue.
