Etiquette
As the story goes, Louis XIV’s gardener at Versailles was faced with a serious problem – he could not stop members of the nobility from trampling about it in delicate areas of the king’s garden. He finally attempted to dissuade their unwanted behaviour by posting signs called etiquets which warned them to “Keep off the grass”.

• If you've served your own portion, it is considered good manners to finish everything on your plate before asking for more. • To communicate that you want more wine, simply finish your glass, but to signify (['signifai]v. 象徵,预示) that you have had enough to drink, leave some wine in your glass.

Starter/Appetizer
头盘,也称为开胃品,一般有冷盘和热头盘之分,常 见的品种有鱼子酱Caviare 、鹅肝酱Goose Liver paste、熏鲑鱼Smoked Salmon 、鸡尾杯Shrimp Cocktail 、焗蜗牛Baked Snail等。

When you hold the knife or fork, you should relax your fingers. Never let the knife, fork or spoon touch the table after you started eating.

Ordering
If there is something you don’t understand on the menu, ask your server any questions you may have. Answering your questions is part of the server’s job.
The European Style
When you need to cut something, you should hold the fork in your left hand and the knife in your right hand. After cutting off a small piece, you put the food directly into your mouth with your left hand.

When you take a break from eating, you simply put your knife and fork on the plate. When you have finished eating, you should put your knife and fork together.
