《沙与沫》

英文名:Kahlil Gibran(1883~1931),黎巴嫩诗人、作家、画家。被称为“艺术天才”、“黎巴嫩文坛骄子”,是阿拉伯现代小说、艺术和散文的主要奠基人,20世纪阿拉伯新文学道路的开拓者之一。他开拓了二十世纪阿拉伯现代小说与艺术散文的创新之路以独树一帜的散文诗创造了“纪伯伦风格”。他与印度诗人泰戈尔齐名,并称为“站在东西方文化桥梁的两位巨人”。

Kahlil Gibran was borned in Lebanon ['lebənən]. As a poet , a writer and a painter , he was called the genius of artist. His unique style of poem and paintings made him famous.

Sand and Foam is one of Gibran's most famous prose poem. This book is full of philosophy and wisdom. It's a book about life , art , love , and human. In addition , this collection of poem have nice rhyme that like the beautiful songs of nature.Conveying the truth of life. Those touching words fly over the world, give people hope and encouragement.

I want to share some part of the book with you here.

I am forever walking upon these shores,

Betwixt the sand and the foam,

The high tide will erase my foot-prints,

And the wind will blow away the foam.

But the sea and the shore will remain

Forever.

我永远在沙岸上行走,

在沙土和泡沫的中间。

高潮会抹去我的脚印,

风也会把泡沫吹走。

但是海洋和沙岸

却将永远存在。

It was but yesterday I thought myself a fragment quivering without rhythm in the sphere of life. Now I know that I am the sphere, and all life in rhythmic fragments moves within me.

仅仅在昨天,我认为我自己只是一个碎片,无韵律地在生命的穹苍中颤抖。

现在我知道,我就是那穹苍,一切生命都是在我身体里面有韵律地转动的碎片。Remembrance is a form of meeting.

Forgetfulness is a form of freedom.

记忆是相会的一种形式。

Generosity is not in giving me that which I need more than you do, but it is in giving me that which you need more than I do.

I would be the least among men with dreams and the desire to fulfil them, rather than the greatest with no dreams and no desires.

Death is not nearer to the aged than to the new-born; neither is life.

If you reveal your secrets to the wind you should not blame the wind for revealing them to the trees.
