Views on consequences of cultural amalgamation:
1) Welcome it as a positive force that will bring people and political units together.
2) See it as a danger to desirable diversity.
In this unit we are going to see how political scientists define globalization, how their perspective is different from sociologists’, and more importantly, what the difference implies about the way we acquire knowledge.
Globalization has changed the face of our lives. Western, especially (1) _A_m__e_ri_ca__n_p_o_p_c_u_l_tu_r_e_ such as fast food, NBA, Hollywood films has come to dominate the world. Two obvious factors that have greatly boosted globalization are transportation and (2) _c_o_m_m__u_n_ic_a_t_io_n_ . Apart from these two factors, (3) _E_n_g_l_is_h__la_n_g_u_a_g_e_ and popular consumer goods have also narrowed the gap between cultures.
