At the age of ten I could not figure out what this Elvis Presley guy had that the rest of us boys did not have.I mean,he had a head, two arms and two legs, just like the rest of us.About nine o’clock on Saturday morning I decided to ask Eugene Correthers, one of the older boys, what it was that made this Elvis guy so special. He told me that it was Elvis’wavy hair and the way he moved his body.
About half an hour later all the boys in the orphanage were called to the main dining-room and told we were all going to downtown Jacksonville, Florida to get a new pair of Buster Brown shoes and a haircut. That is when I got this big idea, which hit me like a ton of bricks. If the Elvis hair cut was the big secret, then that’s what I was going to get.
A11 the way to town I told everybody, including a lady from the orphanage who was taking us to town, that I was going to look just like Elvis Presley and that I would learn to move around just like he did and that I would be rich and famous one day, just like him.
When I got my new Buster Brown shoes, I could hardly wait for my new haircut and now that I had my new Busier Brown shoes I would be very happy to go back to the orphanage and practice being like Elvis.
We finally arrived at the big barber shop, where they cut our hair for free because we were orphans. I looked at the barber and said, “I want an Elvis haircut. Can you make my hair like Elvis?” I asked him, with a big smile on my face. “Let's just see what we can do for you, little man,” he said. I was so happy when he started to cut my hair. Just as he started to cut my hair, the matron signed for him to come over to where she was standing. She whispered something into his ear and then he shook his head, like he was telling her “No”. Then he told me they were not allowed to give us Elvis hair cuts. Then I saw my hair falling onto the floor.

Customer delight is what companies are trying to achieve in order to keep and increase market share in the more and more competitive service industry today.
Researchers confirm that customers receiving good service will promote by telling up to 12other people ; those
treated badly will tell their tales of woe to up to 20 people, Interestingly, 80 percent of people who feel their complaints are handled fairly will stay loyal.
New challenges for customer care have come when people can obtain goods and services through telephone call centers and the Internet. For example , many companies now have to invest a lot of money in information technology and staff training in order to cope with th e “phone rage” caused by delays in answering calls ,being cut off in mid-conversation or left waiting for long periods.
Recommended ways of creating customer delight include: under-promising and
over-delivering (saying that a repair will be carried out within five hours ,but getting it done within two );replacing a faulty product immediately; throwing in a gift card as an unexpected “thank you” to regular customers ;and always returning calls ,even when they are complaints.
Airlines face some of the toughest challenges over customer care . Fierce competition has convinced them that delighting passengers is an important marketing tool, while there is great potential for customer anger over delays caused by weather , unclaimed luggage and technical problems .
For British Airways staff , a winning telephone style is considered vital in handling the large volume of calls about bookings and flight times. They are trained to answer quickly , with their names, job title and a “we are here to help” attitude. British Airways also says its customer care policies are applied within the company and staff are taught to regard each other as customers requiring the highest standers of service.

Azara’s owl monkeys move to the rhythm of the moon. On nights, when a full moon floods the evening sky with light, Azara’s owl monkeys cannot sit still. They are so active that by dawn the next morning, they are worn out. But when the moonlight fades and the moon disappears, Azara’s owl monkeys grow less active at night. On mornings after moonless nights, they are more active.
The owl monkey genus is unique among anthropoids(monkeys and apes similar to humans)because it is the only group whose members are nocturnal. They are not classified as
monkeys stand out, because although they are active during the night, they also exhibit spikes of activity at dawn and dusk.
A research team led by Eduardo Fernadez-Duque at the University of Pennsylvania conducted a study to find out what was driving the unique activity patterns in Azara’s owl monkeys. T hey fitted 10 Azara’s owl monkeys with special collars that recorded the monkeys’ activity at 5-minute
intervals for several months. They later recaptured the monkeys and got back the collars and the data they contained.
They found that in low and high light conditions—on dark moonless nights or in broad daylight for instance---Azara’s owl monkeys were inactive. The monkeys instead favored intermediate light levels such as moonlight nights, and the soft lit hours of dawn and dusk. During those times the monkeys were more active.
Another trend Eduardo Fernadez-Duque and his team discovered was that temperature played a role in influencing how active the monkeys were. During the warm months of September to March monkeys were more active than they were during the cool months of April to August.

I am sure we’ve all come across inspiring quotes that made us nod in agreement or made us think, “Wow, that’s good quote”. But we end up going back to putting off whatever we would put off.
Quotes, books, articles, audio programs… all of these things are just tools and they’re only effective when you use them. I don’t know about you but most quotes I read don’t do anything for
me. However, every now and then, I will come across one that will positively affect me in some way such as reminding me to be grateful, getting me to work out extra hard at the gym without being pressed by others, or never give up when things get tough.
From my experience, reading quotes is more effective when you’re actually trying to motivate yourself rather than just reading them for the sake of reading them. The second you feel the urge to take action, you’d better immediately get up off your chair and take action.
These quotes aren’t for everyone. If you’ve read tons of them and have never been motivated or had a positive change in the way you look at life and treat others, or these quotes don’t help you to insist on doing something when you feel like giving it up, then it’s probably not worth your time reading more of them. If you’ve done something a bunch of times and it’s not giving you the results you want, don’t keep doing it. Try something else.
Now if you’ve found some value in reading some quotes in the past, continue to make them more effective by letting them guide your life.
32. Quotes might be useful to those who________.
A. are eager to help others
B. take immediate action after reading them
C. have no one to turn to for help
D. understand them well enough
33. What is the author’s attitude to the quotes he read?
A. Supportive
B. Doubtful.
C. Neutral.
D. Negative.
34. What can we know from paragraph 4?
A. Keep away from quotes if they things you don’t like.
B. You shouldn’t waste time on the things you don’t like.
C. You can’t motive yourself by reading quotes.
D. Some quotes may have a bad influence on people.
35. The passage is intended to_________.
A. offer advice on how to develop good habits
B. encourage people to read more quotes
C. explain how to make quotes work
D. show advantages of reading quotes
