On Different Views of Female Mate Choice

Abstract

The mate-selection is not always a relaxed, purely individual free choice because it relates personal future and the family prestige, and it relates the stability of the society. The condition of spouse-selection under the specific historical condition can reflect the social, political, and economical, as well as cultural development at different times, and reveal the openness and the modernized degree of social development. Mate choice for women has always been a very important work. China has a saying that "men fear into the wrong profession, women are afraid to marry the wrong husbands," This sentence illustrates the degree of attention women mate

choice.

As the development of the society and economy, the female mate choice, both in east and west, has a great change. By comparing the female mate choice of the east and west in 18th century and current society, the paper makes out the different views of female mate choice, especially female university students’ view. And there is any active or negative psychological influence on the Chinese female university students. Furthermore, we want to make out whether these views will benefit social development and the establishment of the harmonious

society.
