As America’s fourth oldest university, Princeton is the academic home to more than 1,800 graduate students, 4,500 undergraduates and 800 faculty members.
It is located in the town of Princeton, and the main campus covers 600 acres.
Princeton offers an abundance of extraordinary resources, including the university’s library system,
which holds more than 5 million printed works, 2 million none print items, and annually subscribes to over 30,000 journals and periodicals.
In addition, Princeton has an art museum, a natural history museum and outstanding recreational and athletic facilities.
In addition to the traditional liberal arts departments, Princeton has 3 schools:
the School of Architecture, the School of Engineering and Applied Science, and the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.
The outstanding teachers and scholars on Princeton’s faculty have a profound effect on the quality of undergraduate education.
They have a reputation for being uncommonly accessible to undergraduates.
They include men and women who are renowned throughout the world for their scholarship and accomplishment, a number of them having been recipients of Nobel Prize.
All graduate study at Princeton is done on a full-time basis.
Initial enrollment begins in the fall term of each year.
As for admission, Princeton considers each applicant individually, carefully evaluating a candidate’s intellectual and personal qualities,
and every effort is made to be thorough, sensitive, and fair.
The cost of tuition and the mandatory health insurance fee is $21,640, and is expected to raise approximately 5-7% each year.
The tuition charge covers all instructional services, 12-month use of the
libraries, laboratory facilities, the gymnasiums, and the university health center.
Living expenses vary according to individuals, but a single student should plan an income of $1,050-1,260 per month to pay for housing, books, supplies, clothing and travel.
Over 42% of our undergraduates receive financial aid directly from the University.
An additional 33% receive financial aid from other sources.
In 1994-95, Princeton awarded more than $30 million in financial aid to undergraduates.
Any list of the most frequently cited strengths of Princeton would include the following:
the quality of its academic program, its unusual status as a world-class research university, the significant role accorded to independent work,
a highly participatory student body involved in a broad range of extracurricular pursuits,
