A difference in values and attitudes between one generation and another, especially between young people and their parents.

Reasons:

The technological advances play a great rule in enlarging the gap as the younger generations are quicker to accept and adopt these technologies so that they consider the conservative and technologically suspicious elders of their families very old fashioned in their, tastes, opinions and out looks toward life. On the other hand, the older people despise the modern values which they call the" internet" and "globalization" values. They consider the young generation shallow, lacking knowledge and moral depth.

This difference can best be seen in the difference of interests and hobbies. Taste of art , music, dressing sense, food habit and living style.

The difference includes the moral and social values such as marriage, love, happiness seen from different perspectives.

It is a fact of life that the generation gap is something that has existed and will continue to exist as long as man exists on this earth. It is not restricted to certain parts of the world, to certain times of human history or to certain cultures. That is why generation gap is a fact of a life accepted by all generations, all over the world and through all time

Since world came into existence, there is always a generation gap fight between elders and youngsters. They both have their own beliefs, customs and way to live their life. It becomes very sturdy when both think they are right and no one gets ready to change. Generation gap is very problematic because, it breaks many family and youngsters loses respect for elders. Some of the reason where generation gap takes place is:

Elders always want that young should live their life risk-free, should follow customs which are set by their ancestors do appropriate and reputed

job. They want youngsters to live the way they lived their life. They feel that business they have done or their ideas are ultimate and perfect and youngsters should lead their life according to their parents.

On other hand, Youngsters want to live their life king size, want to choose their career, partner and life style. Youth is always attracted to new fashion and customs. Youth want to take risk in life and thus don’t try to get into traditional way to earn. They want fast money and life time enjoyment. They just think about their present not future. When a parent says no for dating and live-in relationships, youngster finds them silly, start ignoring them and behave rudely.

The main factor which can resolve this generation gap is to understand other’s feelings. Elders should keep their ego on side and understand that world changes very fast and only fittest can survive. If youngsters want to choose their career at least elders should give them a chance. Youngster want reasons for all customs, elders are forcing them to follow. If elders have genuine reasons for following customs, then youngsters should do it, this will make your parents happy. Parents say no for dating, live-in relations and dressing sense, especially to girls because many suffered and exploited. Many guys died because they are very cool and go for adventurous trips. If parents are saying something good, youngsters should follow. Other points which will help you to reduce generation gaps are:

1.Every matter should be discussed openly and with accurate reasons.

2.Adults and youngsters should respect each other’s feelings and compromise to some

extent.

3.Both should be more like friends, tell your parents what’s going on in world.

4.Adult should understand youth feelings and give him some space. If adults have given

good teaching to youngster, they can never choose wrong path.

5.Trust each other.

Your parents are not your enemy, try to understand their feelings .when you will become elder, you will realize it.

Generation gap: Who is to blame?

There always has been generation gap since the dawn of civilization. Old people act like a frog in the well. They are fully convinced with their ideas as ultimate and ideal. They ignore certain vital factors that are no longer valid in modern days.
