4. Teaching procedures
Step 1: Lead in
Teacher will share an English song with students, then have a free
talk about it-What do you think of this song?
Step 2: Presentation
1) Teacher read the conversation. Students need to find the main idea.
2) Read and answer. Students read the conversation and answer the question, “How can they improve their English?”. Some of the students will be asked to introduce their conclusion to the whole class.
3) Explain some new words and sentence patterns on the blackboard.
Step 3: Practice
1) Listen and practice. Listen to the tape and practice the conversation in different roles.
2) Brainstorm. Students discuss the question-What else can you do to improve your English? Then try to say something by using the main sentence structure- How can you…? Where can you…? We can…
Step 4: Production
1) Set a situation. Students will make some sentences by using the main sentence structures in groups. And continue the conversation.
2) Production show. Invite some students to act the new conversation on the stage.
Step 5: Summary and homework
1) Some students will be guided to summarize what they have learned in this class.
2) Homework: Role play the conversation; Write a short passage about how to learning English well. At least five sentences.
