1.prefer(like better)---preferring---preferred

(1)prefer sth更喜欢某物，例：I prefer fresh vegetables.

(2)Prefer sth to sth 喜欢某物胜过于某物，例：I preferred meat to fruit when

I was young.

(3)Prefer to do sth 更喜欢做某事，例：He prefers to stay at home on

weekends.

(4)Prefer doing sth to doing sth 喜欢做某事胜过于做某事/ 宁愿做某事也不愿

做某事，例：He prefers having noodles to eating rice.

(5)Prefer to do sth rather than do sth 宁愿做某事而不愿做某事，例：He

prefers to have noodles rather than eat rice.

2.suppose料想、猜想（1）后常加宾语从句，例：I suppose he is from Australia.

例：I suppose him to be dead.= I suppose that he is dead.
