鹅去氧胆酸(CDCA)主要作用是降低胆汁内胆固醇的饱和度，绝大多数患者服用CDCA后(当CDCA占胆汁中胆盐的70%时)，脂类恢复微胶粒状态，胆固醇就处于不饱和状态，从而使结石中的胆固醇溶解、脱落。大剂量的CDCA(每日10~15mg/kg)可以抑制胆固醇的合成，并增加胆石症患者胆汁的分泌，但其中的胆盐和磷脂分泌量维持不变。
