Just up the road from my home is a field, with two horses in it. From a distance, each horse looks like any other horse. But if you get closer, you will notice something quite interesting.

One night, Sarah and Ben had the same dream: the Lord of Tears was going to take over the

The human face doesn't lie. We show sadness and happiness through our expressions. Scientists used to believe we had six basic facial expressions that tell others how we feel: sad, happy, surprised,
fearful, angry and disgusted(恶心的). But a new study shows that our faces can do more than we think.
Scientists from Ohio State University found out that humans can actually make 21 different facial expressions after studying how people move their facial muscles(肌肉).
The scientists took pictures of 230 volunteers making faces in response to different descriptions. These included phrases like “you just got some great unexpected news", which produced a “happily surprised" reaction(反应)from volunteers. Others included “you smell a bad odor(气味)”, which caused "disgusted faces. In total, around 5000 pictures were taken of the volunteers. The scientists then studied similarities of these pictures. This helped them to define(定义) a facial expression. “That tells us that these 21 emotions are expressed in the same way by nearly everyone," said Dr Alex Martinez to The Daily Telegraph. For example, to express surprise, 92 percent of volunteers widened their eyes and opened their mouths, and 99 percent raised their cheeks and smiled to show being happy.
We are not always aware of our facial expressions, which can hold clues to how we really feel, so these results may have a big influence on medical treatment. With their furry round heads and big black eyes, Zhongzhong and Huahua look just the same as any other monkey. But they happen to be the world's first cloned (克隆的) monkeys, Years ago, scientists used cloning techniques to produce Dolly, the world's first cloned mammal(哺乳动物). They now used the same technique to produce the monkeys in China.
In animal cloning, animals are produced in a lab by using DNA that is taken from the cells of a naturally-born animals. To clone Zhongzhong and Huahua, scientists from the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS中国科学院) first removed the nucleus(细胞核) from a monkey's egg cell(卵细胞). They then put another muscles taken from the monkey's body cells into the egg cell. The newly-
formed egg was put into the womb(子宫) of a female monkey. Finally, Zhongzhong and Huahua were born.
The cloning process (过程)is hard, especially removing nucleus. It needs to be done in a fast and precise(精确的) way. The fast you do it, the less damage(伤害) is done to the egg, according to CAS. Scientist Liu Zhen spent three years practicing removing the nucleus.
Unlike common monkeys, cloned monkeys have the same DNA as each other. When doing experiments on them, scientists can easily know that certain results are caused by different treatment, rather than different genes.
According to Sun Qiang from CAS, most drug trials(药物试验) are done on lab mice. However, drugs that work on mice might not work on humans. The two species are very different. “Monkeys and humans are much closely related and testing on monkeys is supposed to be as effective (有效的) as testing on humans," Sun added.
