In other words, it does not mean that all of those who get high scores on eXaminations possess creativity in dealing with various problems. There are many stories that eXaminations failures turn out to be great scientists or successful entrepreneurs.Another effect is that eXaminations encourage bad study habits.Students tend to lay emphasis on the content which will be tested. They are encouraged to memorize rather than to think. Moreover, eXaminations induce cramming during the eXam week. However after the eXamination, most children forget nearly all the information and facts they stuff into their heads.EXaminations lower the standards of teaching as well.Theydeprive teachers of all freedom.Since teachers themselves are often judged by eXamination results, they have to train students in eXam techniques instead of teaching their subjects.Furthermore, students are required to learn only what teachers tell them.In conclusion, even though eXaminations have been used in the past, they should no longer be used as the only means of evaluation. They cannot assess a student’s performance in learning and they also have negative impacts on both students and teachers.(290 words)雅思背范文(篇三)The pie charts below show how dangerous waste products are dealt with in three countries.雅思小作文范文:The charts compare Korea, Sweden and the UK in terms of the methods used in each country to dispose of harmful waste. It is clear that in both the UK and Sweden, the majority of dangerous waste products are buried underground.By contrast, most hazardous materials in the Republic of Korea are recycled.Looking at the information in more detail, we can see that 82% of the UK’s dangerous waste is put into landfill sites. This disposal technique is used for 55% of the harmful waste inSweden and only 22% of similar waste in Korea. The latter country recycles 69% of hazardous materials, which is far more than the other two nations. While 25% of Swedens dangerous waste is recycled, the UK does not recycle at all.Instead, it dumps waste at sea or treats it chemically. These two methods are not employed in Korea or Sweden, which favour incineration for 9% and 20% of dangerous waste respectively.(15(9)雅思背范文(篇四)Dear Mr.Wang,I am much grateful to be employed by you two months ago as an editor for your magazine Design & Fashions.I appreciate the opportunity of having worked here with you and other colleagues. The eXperiences will be unforgettable throughout my life. However, as a young man whose primary interest is in computer science rather than fashion designing, I find my present job doesnt fall in with my previous training and strength.I therefore decide to quit this job for something else that may conform to my former preparation. Please accept my sincere apologies for any inconvenience my leaving may cause.Yours truly,Li Ming雅思背范文(篇五)释义:给…加插图( illustrate的第三人称单数 ); 说明; 表明;(用示例、图画等)说明;Throughout, she illustrates her analysis with eXcerpts from discussions.自始至终,她摘引讨论内容来阐明她的分析。

To begin with, parents have to draw a line on the expectations of theirchildren and find out their true potentials, rather than pushing them to unrealistic limits. Meanwhile, with patience and guidance, parents should keep an eye on their children who fall victims to online pressure through social networking. 雅思高分写作范文40篇
雅思写作必背范文40篇-1Happiness is considered very important in life. Why is it difficult to define? What factors are important in achieving happiness?Happiness is very difficult to define, because it means so many different things to different people. While some people link happiness to wealth and material success, others think it lies in emotions and loving personal relationships.Yet others think that spiritual paths, rather than either the material world or relationships with people, are the only way to true happiness.Because people interpret happiness for themselves in so many different ways,it is difficult to give any definition that is true for everyone. However,if there are different kinds of happiness for different individuals then the first step in achieving it would be to have a degree of self-knowledge.A person needs to know who he or she is before being able to know what it is that makes him or her happy.Of course, factors such as loving relationships, good health, the skills to earn a living and a peaceful environment all contribute to our happiness too.But this does not mean that people without these conditions cannot be happy.Overall,I think an ability to keep clear perspectives in life is a more essential factor in achieving happiness.By that I mean an ability to have a clear sense of what is important in our lives(the welfare of our families, the quality of our relationships, making other people happy, etc.)and what is not(a problem at work, getting annoyed about trivial things, etc.)Like self-awareness,this is also very difficult to achieve, but I think these are the two factors that may be the most important for achieving happiness.雅思写作必背范文40篇-2In many countries schools have severe problems with student behavior. What do you think are the causes of this? What solutions can you suggest?Poor student behavior seems to be an increasingly widespread problem and I think that modern lifestyles are probably responsible for this.In many countries, the birth rate is decreasing so that families are smallerwith fewer children. These children are often spoilt, not in terms of love and attention because working parents do not have the time for this, but in more material ways. They are allowed to have whatever they want, regardless of price, and to behave as they please. This means that the children grow upwithout consideration for others and without any understanding of where their standard of living comes from. When they get to school age they have not learnt any self-control or discipline. They have less respect for their teachers and refuse to obey school rules in the way that their parents did.Teachers continually complain about this problem and measures should be taken to combat the situation. But I think the solution to the problem lies with the families, who need to be more aware of the future consequences of spoiling their children. If they could raise them to be considerate of others and to be social, responsible individuals, the whole community would benefit. Perhaps parenting classes are needed to help them to do this, and high quality nursery schools could be established that would support families more in terms of raising the next generation. The government should fund this kind of parental support, because this is no longer a problem for individual families, but for society as a whole.雅思写作必背范文40篇-3In some countries young people are encouraged to work or travel for a year between finishing high school and starting university studies. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages for young people who decide to do this.It is quite common these days for young people in many countries to have a break from studying after graduating from high school. The trend is not restricted to rich students who have the money to travel, but is also evident among poorer students who choose to work and become economically independent for a period of time. The reasons for this trend may involve the recognition that a young adult who passes directly from school to university is rather restricted in terms of general knowledge and experience of the world.By contrast, those who have spent some time earning a living or travelling to other places, have a broader view of life and better personal resources to draw on. They tend to be more independent, which is a very important factor in academic study and research.,as well as giving them an advantage in terms of coping with the challenges of student life. However, there are certainly dangers in taking time off at that important age.Young adults may end up never returning to their studies or finding it difficult to readapt to an academic environment. They may think different from a university course. But overall,I think this is less likely today, when academic qualifications are essential for getting a reasonable career. My view is that young people should be encouraged to broaden their horizons. That is the best way for them to get a clear perspective of what they are hoping to do with their lives and why.Students with such a perspective are usually the most effective and motivated ones and taking a year off may be the best way to gain this.雅思写作必背范文40篇-4Research indicates that the characteristics we are born with have much more influence on our personality and development than any experiences we may have in our life.Which do you consider to be the major influence?Today the way we consider human psychology and mental development is heavily influenced by the genetic sciences. We now understand the importance to inherited characteristics more than ever before.Yet we are still unable to decide whether an individual’s personality and development are more influenced by genetic factors(nature)or by the environment(nurture).Research, relating to identical twins, has highlighted how significant inherited characteristics can be for an individual’s life. But whether these characteristics are able to develop within the personality of an individual surely depends on whether the circumstances allow such a development. It seems that the experiences we have in life are so unpredictable and so powerful, that they can boost or over-ride other influences, and there seems to be plenty of research finding s to confirm this.My own view is that there is no one major influence in a person’s life. Instead, the traits we inherit from our parents and the situations and experiences that we encounter in life are constantly interacting. It is the interaction of the two that shapes a person’s personality and dictates ow that personality develops. If this were not true, then we would be able to predict the behavior and character of a person form the moment they were born.In conclusion,I do not think that either nature or nurture is the major influence on a person, but that both have powerful effects. How these factors interact is still unknown today and they remain largely unpredictable in a person’s life.雅思写作必背范文40篇-5Successful sports professional can earn a great deal more money than people in other important professions. Some people think this is fully justified while think it is unfair.Discuss both these views and give your own opinion. As a result of constant media attention, sports professionals in my country have become stars and celebrities, and those at the top are paid huge salaries.Just like movie stars, they live extravagant lifestyles with huge houses and cars. Many people find their rewards unfair, especially when comparing these super salaries with those of top surgeons or research scientists,or even leading politicians who have the responsibility of governing the country. However, sports salaries are not determined he or she holds.Instead, they reflect the public support that successful stars can generate. So the notion of“fairness”is not the issue. Those who feel that sports stars’salaries are justified might argue that the number of professionals with real talent are very few,and the money is a recognition of the skills and dedication a person needs to be petition is constant and a player is tested every time they perform in their relatively short career. The pressure from the media is intense and there is little privacy out of the spotlight. So all of these factors may justify the huge earnings.Personally,I think that the amount of money such sports stars make is more justified than the huge earnings of movie stars, but at the same time,it indicates that our society places more value on sport than on more essential professions and achievements.雅思写作必背范文40篇-6Some people prefer to spend their lives doing the same things and avoiding change.Other, however, think that change is always a good thing.Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.Over the last half century the pace of change in the life of human beings has increased beyond our wildest expectations. This has been driven by technological and scientific breakthroughs that are changing whole way we view the world on an almost daily basis. This means that change is not always a personal option, but an inescapable fact of life, and we need to constantly adapt to keep pace with it.Those people who believe they have achieved some security by doing the same, familiar things are living in denial.Even when people believe they are resisting change themselves, they cannot stop the world around them from changing.Sooner or later they will find that the familiar jobs no longer exist,or that the‘safe’patterns of behavior are no longer appropriate. However, reaching the conclusion that change is inevitable is not the same as assuming that‘change is always for the better’.Unfortunately, it is not always the case that new things are promoted they have good impacts for the majority of people.A lot of innovations are made with the aim of making money for a few. This is because it is the rich and powerful people in our society who are able to impose changes(such as in working conditions or property developments)that are in their own interests. In conclusion,I would say that change can be stimulating and energizing for individuals when they pursue it themselves, but that all change, including that which is imposed on people, does not necessarily have good outcomes.雅思写作必背范文40篇-7It is generally believed that some people are born with certain talents, for instance for sport or music, and others are not. However,it is sometimes claimed that any child can be taught to become a good sports person or musician.Discuss both these views and give your own opinion. The relative importance of natural talent and training is a frequent topic of discussion when people try to explain different levels of ability in,for example, sport, art or music.Obviously, education systems are based on the belief that all children can effectively be taught to acquire different skills, including those associated with sport, art or music. So from our own school experience,we can find plenty of evidence to support the view that a child can acquire these skills with continued teaching and guided practice. However, some people believe that innate talent is what differentiates a person who has been trained to play a sport or an instrument, from those who become good players. In other words, there is more to the skill than a learned technique, and this extra talent cannot be taught,no matter how good the teacher or how frequently a child practices.I personally think that some people do have talents that are probably inherited via their genes.Such talents can give individuals a facility for certain skills that allow them to excel, while more hare-working students never manage to reach a comparable level. But,as with all questions of nature versus nurture, they are not mutually exclusive.Good musicians or artists and exceptional sports stars have probably succeeded because of both good training and natural talent.Without the natural talent, continuous training would be neither attractive nor productive, and without the training, the child would not learn how to exploit and develop their talent. In conclusion,I agree that any child can be taught particular skills, but to be rally good in areas such as music, art or sport, then some natural talent is required.雅思写作必背范文40篇-8Some people think that parents should teach children how to be good members of society.Others, however, believe that school is the place to learn this.Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.A child’s education has never been about learning information and basic skills only.It has always included teaching the next generation how to be good members of society. Therefore, this cannot be the responsibility of the parents alone. In order to be a good member of any society the individual must respect and obey the rules of their community and share their community and share their cating children to understand the need to obey rules and respect others always begins in the home and is widely thought to be the responsibility of parents. They will certainly be the first to help children learn what is important in life, how they are expected to behave and what role they will play in their world. However, learning to understand and share the value system of a whole society cannot be achieved just in the home.Once a child goes to school, they are entering a wider community where teachers and peers will have just as much influence as their parents do at home.At school, childrenwill experience working and living with people from a whole variety of backgrounds from the wider society. This experience should teach them how to co-operate with each other and how to contribute to the life of their community. But to be a valuable member of any community is not like learning a simple skill. It is something that an individual goes on learning throughout life and it is the responsibility of every member of a society to take responsibility for helping the younger generation to become active and able members of that society.雅思写作必背范文40篇-9Increasing the price of petrol is the best way to solve growing traffic and pollution problems. To what extent do you agree or disagree? What other measures do you think might be effective? There is no doubt that traffic and pollution from vehicles have become huge problems, both in cities and on motorways everywhere.Solvingthese problems is likely to need more than a simple rise in the price of petrol. While it is undeniable that private car use is one of the main causes of the increase in traffic and pollution, higher fuel costs are unlikely to limit the number of drivers for long.As this policy would also affect the cost of public transport,it would be very unpopular with everyone who needs to travel on the roads. But there are various other measures that could be implemented that would have a huge effect on these problems.I think to tackle the problem of pollution, cleaner fuels need to be developed. The technology is already available to produce electric cars that would be both quieter and cleaner to use.Persuading manufacturers and travelers to adopt this new technology would be a more effective strategy for improving air quality, especially in cities. However, traffic congestion will not be solved by changing the type of private vehicle people can use.To do this,we need to improve the choice of public transport services available to travelers. For example,if sufficient sky trains and underground train systems were built and effectively maintained in our major cities, then traffic on the roads would be dramatically reduced.Long-distance train and coach services should be made attractive and affordable alternatives to driving your own car for long journeys. In conclusion,I think that long-term traffic and pollution reductions would depend on educating the public to use public transport more, and on governments using public money to construct and run efficient systems.雅思写作必背范文40篇-10Some experts believe that it is better for children to begin learning a foreign language at primary school rather than secondary school.Do the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages? Traditionally, children have begun studying foreign languages at secondary school, but introducing them earlier is recommended by some educationalists. This policy has been adopted by some educational authorities or individual schools, with both positive and negative outcomes. The obvious argument in its favour is that young children pick up languages much more easily than teenagers.Their brains are still programmed to acquire their mother tongue, which facilitates learning another language, and unlike adolescents, they are not inhibited by self-consciousness.The greater flexibility of the primary timetable allows for more frequent, shorter sessions and for a play-centred approach, thus maintaining learners’enthusiasm and progress.Their command of the language in later life will benefit from this early exposure, while learning other languages subsequently will be easier for them. They may also gain a better understanding of other cultures. There are, however, some disadvantages.Primary school teachers are generalists, and may not have the necessary language skills themselves. If specialists have to be brought in to deliver these sessions, the flexibility referred to above is diminished. If primary language teaching is not standardised, secondary schools could be faced with a great variety of levels in different languages within their intake, resulting in a classroom experience which undoes the earlier gains. There is no advantage if enthusiastic primary pupils become demotivated as soon as they change schools. However, these issues can be addressed strategically within the policy adopted.Anything which encourages language learning benefits society culturally and economically, and early exposure to language learning contributes to this.Young children innate abilities should be harnessed to make these benefits more achievable.雅思写作必背范文40篇-11Some people say that the best way to improve public health is by increasing the number of sports facilities.Others, however, say that this would have little effect on public health and that other measures are required.Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.A problem of modern societies is the declining level of health in the general population, with conflicting views on how to tackle this worrying trend. One possible solution is to provide more sports facilities to encourage a more active lifestyle.Advocates of this believe that today’s sedentary lifestyle and stressful working conditions mean that physical activity is no longer part of either our work or our leisure time.If there were easy-to-reach local sports that could be offered would cater for all ages, levels of fitness and interests: those with painful memories of PE at school might be happier in the swimming pool than on the football pitch. However, there may be better ways of tackling this problem.Interest in sport is not universal, and additional facilities might simply attract the already fit,not those who most need them.Physical activity could be encouraged relatively cheaply, for example by installing exerciseequipment in parks,as my local council has done. This has the added benefit that parents and children often use them together just for fun, which develops a positive attitude to exercise at an early age.As well as physical activity, high tax penalties could be imposed on high-fat food products, tobacco and alcohol,as excessive consumption of any of these contributes to poor health.Even improving public transport would help:it takes longer to walk to the bus stop than to the car.In my opinion, focusing on sports facilities is too narrow an approach and would not have the desired results.People should be encouraged not only to be more physically active but also adopt a healthier lifestyle in general.雅思写作必背范文40篇-12It is important for children to learn the difference between right and wrong at an early age.Punishment is necessary to help them learn this distinction. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion? What sort of punishment should parents and teachers be allowed to use to teach good behaviour to children? One important stage in a child’s growth is certainly the development of a conscience, which is linked to the ability to tell right from wrong. This skill comes with time and good parenting, and my firm conviction is that punishment does not have much of a role to play in this. Therefore I have to disagree almost entirely with the given statement. To some extent the question depends on the age of the child. To punish a very young child is both wrong and foolish,as an infant will not understand what is happening or why he or she is being punished.Once the age of reason is reached however,a child can be rewarded for good behaviour and discouraged from bad. This kind but firm approach will achieve more than harsh punishments, which might entail many negative consequences unintended by the parents. To help a child learn the difference between right and wrong, teachers and parents should firstly provide good role modelling in their own behavior. After that,if sanctions are needed, the punishment should not be of a physical nature,as that merely sends the message that it is acceptable for larger people to hit smaller ones-an outcome which may well result in the child starting to bully others.Nor should the punishment be in any way cruel.Rather, teachers and parents can use a variety of methods to discipline their young charges, such as detention, withdrawal of privileges, and time-out.Making the punishment fit the crime is a useful notion, which would see children being made to pick up rubbish they have dropped, clean up graffiti they have drawn,or apologize to someone they have hurt.In these ways responsibility is developed in the child, which leads to much better future behaviour than does punishment.雅思写作必背范文40篇-13Countries are becoming more and more similar because people are able to buy the same products anywhere in the world.Do you think this is a positive or negative development? It is said that countries are becoming similar to each other because of the global spread of the same products, which are now available for purchase almost anywhere.I strongly believe that this modern development is largely detrimental to culture and traditions worldwide.A country’s history, language and ethos are all inextricably bound up in its manufactured artefacts. If the relentless advance of international brands into every corner of the world continues, these bland packages might one day completely oust the traditional objects of a nation, which would be a loss of richness and diversity in the world,as well as the saddisappearance of the manifestations of a place’s character. What would a Japanese tea ceremony be without its specially crafted teapot,or a Fijian kava ritual without its bowl made from a certain type of tree bark? Let us not forget either that traditional products, whether these be medicines, cosmetics, toys, clothes, utensils or food, provide employment for local people. The spread of multinational products can often bring in its wake a loss of jobs,as people turn to buying the new brand, perhaps, thinking it more glamorous than the one they are used to.This eventually puts old-school craftspeople out of work. Finally, tourism numbers may also be affected,as travelers become disillusioned with finding every place just the same as the one they visited previously. To see the same products in shops the world over is boring, and does not impel visitors to open their wallets in the same way that trinkets or souvenirs unique to the particular area do.Some may argue that all people are entitled to have access to the same products, but I say that local objects suit local conditions best, and that faceless uniformity worldwide is an unwelcome and dreary prospect.雅思写作必背范文40篇-14Leaders and directors in an organization are normally older people. Some people think younger leader would be better.Do you agree or disagree? It is true that higher positions are prevalently held by aged members in many organizations these days. While some people believe younger people would demonstrate better leadership,it is in my opinion that senior managers possess more advantages over the young in leading a company. To begin with,it is usually difficult for the young to compete with the old in terms of experience. Those who have gained adequate experience can more effectively manage to lead the individuals of an organization than those who do not.The reason for this is that business matters often require the people in charge to have not only the knowledge of coping with problematic situations but also strong nerves to calmly find a feasible solution. As a result, years of experience in a relevant position tend to make the elderly better candidates than those who are relatively young and new to the tasks.Another advantage belonging to aged people is that they are likely to receive more support from the people in an organization. As the time spent working with the staff of the senior is often longer, they can understand their colleagues better, achieving more popularity. It isinterpersonal communication skills and approval of other people that can tremendously affect the success of a leader.Younger members,on the other hand, will need more time to make contributions over time to prove themselves worthy. In conclusion,I believe that critical positions of authority should be given to senior staff members for the certain reasons mentioned rather than the young.雅思写作必背范文40篇-15Some people think that there should be some strict controls about noise. Others think that they could just make as much noise as they want. Discuss both views and give your opinion.People have different views about whether noise should be limited. While some individuals believe the level of noise being created should be strictly controlled,I would argue that people should have the right to produce noise if they want to.On the one hand, there are several reasons why the government should control the amount of noise produced. The first reason is that too much noise can significantly affect people's health.Living in a place that is too noisy can cause problems such as headaches, which can decrease thehealth levels of people, especially old ones.Additionally, noise can disturb people's work or study. For example,a university student will not be able to concentrate on his preparation for exams if his neighbours keep singing too loud. However,I believe people should be allowed make as much noise as they want because of some reasons.Firstly, producing noise is sometimes considered a type of recreational activities. For instance, singing or cheering for a football club can be relaxing, and everyone has the right to do those things.Secondly,as the world is becoming more modern, people have found ways to deal with the problem of noise.Scientists have invented walls and windows that can block out the noise, which allows individuals to focus on their work without being disturbed. Therefore, the problem of noise can be reduced and there is no need for people to keep quiet. In conclusion, while many people believe there should be controls about noise,I believe we have the right to create noise when we want to.雅思写作必背范文40篇-16It is now possible for scientists and tourists to travel to remote natural environment, such as the South Pole.Do the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages? As technology has developed, people can now travel to remote natural areas. While this trend is beneficial to some extent,I would argue that its disadvantages are more significant. On the one hand, visiting isolated natural places has some benefits. Firstly, this is a newer and more interesting type of travelling.Since going to other cities or countries has been too common for most people,it might be more exciting for them to explore new places such as the South Pole or the Amazon rainforest. This gives them valuable experiences and unforgettable memories.Secondly, when visiting remote areas, people, especially scientists, might acquire more knowledge about the natural habitat. For example, when coming to the North Pole, scientists can learn about the life of polar bears which live far away from humans. On the other hand,I believe this development has far more drawbacks. The first one is that travelling to remote natural areas can be risky if the travellers are not sufficiently prepared. For instance, the temperature at the South Pole is usually very low, which adversely affects people's health.Travelling to forests can also be dangerous as people have to face the risk of being attacked by animals. Also, since visiting isolated places often requires a large amount of investment in researching and ensuring the safety of travellers, the costs of travelling tend to be high. Therefore,。

雅思写作范文一:医疗服务[题目]You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.Present a written argument or case to an educated non-specialist audience on the following topic.A number of different medical traditions are now widely known and used: Western medicine (using drugs and surgery), herbal medicine, acupuncture (using needles at certain points of the body), homoeopathy (using minute doses of poisons), and so on. How important is the patient’s mental attitude towards his/her treatment in determining the effectiveness of the treatment? You should write at least 250 words. You should you your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.[提示]你可以按照下面的提纲写作:Different medical traditions (a list of examples is given)Patient’s mental attitude: the way the patient feels about the treatmentEffectiveness of the treatment: how much better does it make the patient?在写作之前,请问自己以下的问题:Do I think the patient’s attitude is important? What examples can I give where the patient’s attitude was important, or irrelevant?在文章中你必须:Describe some of the different ways people feel about medical treatment (hopeful, hopeless, trusting, skeptical...).Say if in your opinion the feelings affect the treatment or not.Give examples to support your argument about why the treatments were effective or ineffective.[范文](在阅读此范文之前你至少已经花了一些时间写作)A wide range of medical treatments is available today. Patients may wonder which will be the most effective, and whether their own mental attitude to the type of treatment might affect its success. This essay will consider the second of these questions. - Topic words used. Task of essay explained. Many people visit their doctor or go to hospital with complete trust in the expert care offered by conventional services. However, some people do not get a satisfactory result. For example, the drugs they are prescribed may have unpleasant side-effects. Their initial positive attitude towards their treatment does them little good. - Idea in both paragraphs: that people may not get what they expect; with examples.Similarly, those patients who trustfully choose alternative treatments over traditional medicine may find themselves disillusioned. Less rigorous qualification standards among alternative practitioners may mean that some healers give ineffective or damaging advice. The result, again, is that a patient who entered treatment with confidence leaves that treatment disillusioned. On the other hand, patients may try a style of treatment with some skepticism. A person used to conventional medicines and drugs may be suspicious of treatments based on diet and lifestyle changes. Yet if they follow such programs, they may in fact notice improvements in their conditions, in spite of their skepticism.Equally, a patient opposed to conventional medicine may have an accident and be saved by the effective treatment of conventional emergency services. - Idea: that something you don’t like can still help you.In conclusion, it appears that the mental attitude of the patient is not the most significant factor in determining the outcome of the treatment. Patients who enter treatment confidently may leave disillusioned while those who begin treatment skeptical of the results may find themselves surprised with what they have gained. Patients should seek the advantages which each style of care can offer. - Main argument of essay is stated.Remember: this sample answer is one of several satisfactory ways to answer the question. Other essays which respond to the writing task would also be acceptable.Source: Prepare for IELTS, by Vanessa T odd & Penny Cameron, 1996, UTS, Australia. According to statistics from the local authority, the number of traffic accidents in 2004 was 20% greater than that of the previous year. The issue is gaining more and more concern of the public, some of whom propose that stricter punishment on traffic offenders should be the only way to ensure road safety. As far as I am concerned, I hold that punishment should not be only solution to the problem. There is certainly no denying that stricter penalties may to some extent bring down the number of accidents on motorways as a deterrent to driving offences. Besides, the government may enjoy a greater revenue from severer fines, which can in turn beused to improve road conditions. However, we shall never overlook the other side of the coin: punishment has its downsides. Fines, as the most common penalty for driving violations, tend to instill in people the misconception that money can pay off their guilt and resolve the problem. As a result, we can see many cases where the traffic offender commits the same or another mistake even after having been fined a lot. In spite of heavier punishment, road safety cannot be enhanced unless drivers are equipped with sufficient driving skills and knowledge. Recently there have emerged many irresponsible driving schools that have produced a host of unqualified drivers, contributing to more traffic offences. Thus tight control on driving schools and the driving testing system is needed as well to improve road safety. Furthermore, advertisements and campaigns concerned should be launched to raise the public awareness. When people are fully aware of the importance of abiding traffic rules, accidents may hopefully be eliminated. From the above discussion, it is clear that only stricter punishment is not enough to enhance road safety. Instead, it should go hand in hand with closer control on driving schools and the testing system as well as higher public awareness.雅思写作范文三:移民Nowadays, more and more people would like to move to other countries and settle down for better natural environment, and more educational opportunities. Whether these new settlers should accept new countries’ values and lifestyles has become a public focus. Before presenting my own opinion, I think it is essential to analyze both sides of the issue.People in favor of acceptance to new values claim that onceyou live in a new environment, you have to adapt yourself to the new community. If not, you would feel psychologically isolated. Moreover, getting yourself in the new environment, you can develop a better career, for your employer will consider you to be an adaptable person. And your family also can get themselves involved in the new community. Last but not least, as you accept the new values and lifestyles, you can learn something new apart from your own culture. Those who are against, however, argue that if the settlers accept new values and culture, they are considered to betray their own countries, so they no longer belong to their countries. Furthermore, new settlers are supposed to keep their own styles. For instance, their eating habits, religion believes, and so on. Last of all, it is a good way to preserve their tradition and culture, especially the ethnic, who are in minority of people.Personally speaking, I tend to side with the former view. Though people should have their unique styles, it is crucial to adjust to the new environment and community. An old saying just illustrates my point: When in Rome, do as the Roman.。

雅思写作经典范文 10 篇
雅思写作经典范文 10 篇01 The Language of MusicA painter hangs his or her finished pictures on a wall, and everyone can see it. Acomposer writes a work, but no one can hear it until it is performed. Professional singersand players have great responsibilities, for the composer is utterly dependent on them. Astudent of music needs as long and as arduous a training to become a performer as amedical student needs to become a doctor. Mosttraining is concerned with technique, formusicians have to have the muscular proficiency of an athlete or a ballet dancer. Singerspractice breathing every day, as their vocal chords would be inadequate without controlledmuscular support. String players practice moving the fingers of the left hand up and down, while drawing the bow to and fro with the right arm-two entirely different movements.Singers and instruments have to be able to get every note perfectly intune. Pianists arespared this particular anxiety, for the notes are already there, waiting for them, and it is thepiano tuner’s responsibility to tune the instrument for them. But they have their owndifficulties; the hammers that hit the string have to be coaxed not to sound like percussion, and each overlapping tone has to sound clear. This problem of getting clear texture is one that confronts student conductors: they have tolearn to know every note of the music and how it should sound, and they have to aim atcontrolling these sounds with fanatical but selfless authority. Technique is of no use unless it is combined with musical knowledge and understanding.Great artists are those who are so thoroughly at home in the language of music that theycan enjoy performing works written in any century.02 Schooling and EducationIt is commonly believed in United States that school is where people go to get aneducation. Nevertheless, it hasbeen said that today children interrupttheir education togo to school. The distinction between schooling and education implied by this remark isimportant.Education is much more open-ended and all-inclusive than schooling. Education knowsno bounds. It can take place anywhere, whether inthe shower or in the job, whether in akitchen or on a tractor. It includes both the formal learning that takes place in schools andthe whole universe of informal learning. The agents of education can range from a reveredgrandparent to the people debating politics on the radio, from a child to a distinguishedscientist. Whereas schooling has a certain predictability, education quite often producessurprises. A chance conversation with a stranger may lead a person to discover how littleis known of other religions. People are engaged in education from infancy on. Education, then, is a very broad, inclusive term. It isa lifelong process, a process that starts longbefore the start of school, and one that should be an integral part of one’s entire life.Schooling, on the other hand, is a specific, formalized process, whose general patternvaries little from one setting to the next. Throughout a country, children arrive at school atapproximately the same time, take assigned seats, are taught by an adult, use similartextbooks, do homework, take exams, and so on.The slices of reality that are to belearned, whether they are the alphabet or an understanding of the working of government, have usually been limited by the boundaries ofthe subject being taught. For example, high school students know that there not likely to find out in their classes the truth aboutpolitical problems in their communities or what the newest filmmakers are experimentingwith. There are definite conditions surroundingthe formalized process of schooling.03 The Definition of “Price”Prices determine how resources are to be used. They are also themeans by whichproducts and services that are in limitedsupply are rationed among buyers. The pricesystem of the United States is a complex network composed of the prices of all theproducts bought and sold in the economy as well as those of a myriad of services, including labor, professional, transportation, and public-utility services. Theinterrelationships of all these prices make up the “system” of prices. The price of anyparticular product or service is linked to a broad, complicated system of prices in whicheverything seems to depend more or less upon everything else.If one were to ask a group of randomly selected individuals to define “price”, many wouldreply that price is an amount of money paid by the buyer to the seller of a product orservice or, in other words that price is the money values of a product or service as agreedupon in a market transaction. This definition is, of course, validas far as it goes. For acomplete understanding of a price in any particular transaction, much more than theamount of money involved must be known. Both the buyer and the seller should befamiliar with not only the money amount, but with the amount and quality of the product orservice to be exchanged, the time and place at which the exchange will take place andpayment will be made, the form of money tobe used, the credit terms and discounts thatapply to the transaction, guarantees on the product or service, delivery terms, returnprivileges, and other factors. In other words, both buyer and seller should be fully aware ofall the factors that comprise the total “package” being exchanged for the asked-for amountof money in order that they may evaluate a given price.04 ElectricityThe modern age is an age of electricity. People are so used to electric lights, radio, televisions, and telephones that it is hard toimagine what life wouldbe like without them. When there is a power failure, people grope about in flickering candlelight, cars hesitate inthe streets because there are no traffic lights to guide them, and food spoils in silentrefrigerators.Yet, people began to understand how electricity works only a little more than two centuriesago. Nature has apparently been experimenting in this field for million of years. Scientistsare discovering more and more that the living world may hold many interesting secrets ofelectricity that could benefit humanity. All living cell send out tiny pulses of electricity. As the heart beats, it sends out pulses ofrecord; they form an electrocardiogram, which a doctor can study to determine how wellthe heart is working. The brain, too, sends out brain waves of electricity, which can berecorded in an electroencephalogram. The electric currents generated by most living cellsare extremely small - often so small that sensitive instruments areneeded to record them. But in some animals, certain muscle cells have become so specialized as electricalgenerators that they do not work as muscle cells at all. When large numbers of these cellare linked together, the effects can be astonishing. The electric eel is an amazing storage battery. It can seed a jolt of as much as eighthundred volts of electricity through the water in which it live. (An electric house current isonly one hundred twenty volts.) As many as four-fifths of all the cells in the electric eel’sbody are specialized for generating electricity, and the strength of the shock it can delivercorresponds roughly to length of its body.05 The Beginning of DramaThere are many theories aboutthe beginning of drama in ancient Greece. The on mostwidely accepted today is based on the assumption that drama evolved from ritual. Theargument for this view goes as follows. In the beginning, human beings viewed the naturalforces of the world-even the seasonal changes-as unpredictable, and they sought throughvarious means to control these unknown and feared powers. Those measures whichappeared to bring the desired results were then retained and repeated until they hardenedinto fixed rituals. Eventually stories arose which explained or veiled the mysteries of therites. As time passed some rituals were abandoned, but the stories, later called myths, persisted and provided material for art and drama. Those who believe that drama evolved out of ritual also argue thatthose rites containedthe seed of theater because music, dance, masks, and costumes were almost alwaysused, furthermore, a suitable site had tobe provided for performances and when theentire community did not participate, a clear division was usually made between the"acting area" and the "auditorium." In addition, there wereperformers, and, sinceconsiderable importance was attached to avoiding mistakes in the enactment of rites, religious leaders usually assumed that task. Wearing masks and costumes, they oftenimpersonated other people, animals, or supernatural beings, and mimed the desiredeffect-success in hunt or battle, the coming rain, the revival of the Sun-as an actor might.Eventually such dramatic representations were separated from religious activities.Another theory traces the theater’s origin from the human interest in storytelling.According to this vies tales (about the hunt, war, or other feats) are gradually elaborated,at first through the use of impersonation, action, and dialogue by a narrator and thenthrough the assumption of each of the roles by a different person. A closely related theorytraces theater to those dancesthat are primarily rhythmical and gymnastic or that areimitations of animal movements and sounds.06 TelevisionsTelevision-----the most pervasive and persuasive of modern technologies, marked byrapid change and growth-is moving into a new era, an era of extraordinary sophisticationand versatility, which promisesto reshape our lives and our world. It is an electronicrevolution of sorts, made possible by the marriage of television and computertechnologies. The word "television", derived from its Greek (tele: distant) and Latin (visio: sight) roots, can literally be interpreted as sight from a distance. Very simply put, it works in this way:through a sophisticated system of electronics, television provides the capability ofconverting an image (focused on a special photoconductive plate within a camera) intoelectronic impulses, which can be sent through a wire or cable. These impulses, when fedinto a receiver (television set), can then be electronically reconstitutedinto that sameimage.Television is more than just an electronic system, however. It is a means of expression, aswell as a vehicle for communication, and as such becomes a powerful tool for reachingother human beings. The field of television can be divided into two categories determined by its means oftransmission. First, there is broadcast television, which reaches the masses throughbroad-based airwave transmission of television signals. Second, there is nonbroadcasttelevision, which provides for the needs of individuals or specific interest groups throughcontrolled transmission techniques.Traditionally, television has been a medium of the masses. We are most familiar withbroadcast television because it has been with us for about thirty-seven years in a formsimilar to what exists today. During those years, it has been controlled, for the most part,by the broadcast networks, ABC, NBC, and CBS, who have been the major purveyors ofnews, information, and entertainment. These giants of broadcasting have actually shapednot only television but our perception of it as well. We have come to look upon the picturetube as a source of entertainment, placing our role in this dynamic medium as the passiveviewer.07 Andrew CarnegieAndrew Carnegie, known as the King of Steel, built the steel industry in the United States, and, in the process, became one ofthe wealthiest men in America. His success resulted inpart from his ability to sell the product and in part from his policy of expanding duringperiods of economic decline, when most of his competitors were reducing theirinvestments.Carnegie believed that individuals should progress through hard work, but he also feltstrongly that the wealthy should use their fortunes for the benefit ofsociety. He opposedcharity, preferring instead to provide educational opportunities that would allow others tohelp themselves. "He who dies rich, dies disgraced," he often said. Among his more noteworthy contributions tosociety are those that bear his name, including the Carnegie Institute of Pittsburgh, which has a library, a museum of fine arts, and a museum of national history. He also founded a school of technology that is now partof Carnegie-Mellon University. Other philanthropic gifts are the Carnegie Endowment forInternational Peace to promote understanding between nations, the Carnegie Institute of Washington to fund scientific research, and Carnegie Hall to providea center for the arts.Few Americans have been left untouched byAndrew Carnegie’s generosity. Hiscontributions of more than five million dollars established 2,500 libraries in smallcommunities throughout the country and formed the nucleus of the public library systemthat we all enjoy today.08 American RevolutionThe American Revolution was not a sudden and violent overturning of the political andsocial framework, such as later occurred in France and Russia, when both were alreadyindependent nations. Significant changes were ushered in, but they were not breathtaking. What happened was accelerated evolution rather than outright revolution. During theconflict itself people went on working and praying, marrying andplaying. Most of themwere not seriously disturbed by the actualfighting, and many of the more isolatedcommunities scarcely knew that a war was on.America’s War of Indepe ndence heralded the birth of three modern nations. One wasCanada, which received its first large influx of English-speaking population from thethousands of loyalists who fled there from the United States. Anotherwas Australia, whichbecame a penal colony now that America was no longer available for prisoners anddebtors. The third newcomer-the United States-based itself squarely on republicanprinciples.Yet even the political overturn was not so revolutionary as one might suppose. In somestates, notably Connecticut and Rhode Island, the war largely ratified a colonial self-rulealready existing. British officials, everywhere ousted, were replaced by a home-growngoverning class, which promptly sought a local substitute for king and Parliament.09 SuburbanizationIf by "suburb" is meant an urban margin that grows more rapidly than its alreadydeveloped interior, the process of suburbanization began during the emergence of theindustrial city in the second quarter of the nineteenth century. Beforethat period the citywas a small highly compact cluster in which people moved about on foot and goods wereconveyed by horse and cart. But the early factories built in the 1840’s were located alongwaterways and near railheads at the edges of cities, and housing was needed for thethousands of people drawn by the prospect of employment. Intime, the factories weresurrounded by proliferating mill towns of apartments and row houses that abutted the older, main cities. As a defense against this encroachment and to enlarge their tax bases, thecities appropriated their industrial neighbors. In1854, for example, the city of Philadelphiaannexed most of Philadelphia County. Similar municipal maneuvers took place in Chicagoand in New York. Indeed, most great cities of the United States achieved such status onlyby incorporating the communities along their borders. With the acceleration of industrial growthcame acute urban crowding and accompanyingsocial stress-conditions that began to approachdisastrous proportions when, in 1888, thefirst commercially successful electric traction line was developed. Within a few years thehorse-drawn trolleys were retired and electric streetcar networks crisscrossed andconnected every major urban area, fostering a wave of suburbanization that transformedthe compact industrial city into a dispersed metropolis. This first phase of mass-scalesuburbanization was reinforced by the simultaneous emergence of the urban MiddleClass, whose desires for homeownership in neighborhoods far from the aging inner citywere satisfied by the developers ofsingle-family housing tracts.10 Types of SpeechStandard usage includes those words and expressions understood, used, and acceptedby a majority of the speakers of a language inany situation regardless of the level offormality. As such, these words and expressions are well defined and listed in standarddictionaries. Colloquialisms, on the other hand, are familiar words and idioms that areunderstood by almost all speakers of a language and used in informal speech or writing, but not considered appropriate for more formalsituations. Almost all idiomatic expressionsare colloquial language. Slang, however, refers to words and expressions understood by alarge number of speakers but not accepted as good, formal usage by the majority.Colloquial expressions and even slang may be found in standard dictionaries but will beso identified. Both colloquial usage and slang are more common in speech than in writing.Colloquial speech often passes into standardspeech. Some slang also passes intostandard speech, but other slang expressions enjoy momentary popularity followed byobscurity. In some cases, the majority never accepts certain slang phrases butnevertheless retains them in their collective memories. Every generation seems to requireits own set of words to describe familiar objects and events. It has been pointed out by anumber of linguists that three cultural conditions are necessary for the creation of a largebody of slang expressions. First, the introduction and acceptance of new objects andsituations in the society; second, a diverse population witha large number of subgroups;third, association among the subgroups and the majority population. Finally, it is worth noting thatthe terms "standard" "colloquial" and "slang" exist only asabstract labels for scholars who study language.Only a tiny number of the speakers ofany language will be aware that they are using colloquial or slang expressions. Mostspeakers of English will, during appropriate situations, selectand use all three types ofexpressions.。

但是对于政府花钱建设更多的铁路而不是公路这样的`观点,我本人表示不能完全赞成。
It is perhaps the long-disturbing traffic issue that drives governments all over the globe to make great efforts in establishing or improving theirtraffic system. Nevertheless, I still cannot be enrolled in the camp that claims it is wise to construct railway rather than roads.
Undoubtedly, the railway construction, in a way, can be deemed as a win-win program for both the country and its citizens. After all, pared with other types of transportation, the transporting load of railage in a unit time is the largest and it is also the fastest approach of conveyance on land. Simultaneously, due to its strikingly strong operating system in running, it can scarcely entail any congestion. Evidently, it is advantageous to implement the plan referred to railway establishment. 剑桥大学雅思写作范文
剑桥大学雅思写作范文一、题目:Some people think that universities should provide graduates with the knowledge and skills needed in the workplace. Others think that the true function of a university should be to give access to knowledgefor its own sake, regardless of whether the course is useful to an employer. What, in your opinion, should be the main function of a university?范文:Well, when it comes to the main function of a university, it's really a tricky question. There are those who firmly believe that universities should be like a factory churning out graduates armed with workplace ready knowledge and skills. And there's some sense in that. After all, when students graduate, they've got to face the real world, and if they don't have the practical know how, they might be in for a rough ride. For example, in fields like engineering or computer science, if students don't learn the latest software or engineering techniques that are actually used in companies, they could find themselves at a loss when they start their jobs. It's like learning to drive a car only in theory and then being expected to compete in a Formula 1 race it just doesn't work!On the other hand, there are those who argue that universities should be all about pure knowledge, just for the sake of it. This view also hasits charm. Think about it. Universities have been places of great intellectual exploration for centuries. There are so many areas of study that might not seem "useful" at first glance, like ancient languages or some esoteric branches of philosophy. But these areas of study are what make human civilization rich and diverse. For instance, the study of ancient Greek philosophy might not directly land you a high paying job at a big corporation, but it enriches our understanding of how we think, where our ideas come from, and how society has evolved over time. It's like adding beautiful colors to the canvas of human knowledge. In my humble opinion, a university should be a bit of both. It should offer practical courses that get students ready for the job market. But it should also be a haven for the pursuit of pure knowledge. Universities should encourage students to study what they love, whether it's something "useful" or not. Because you never know, that "useless" knowledge today might turn out to be the key to a major breakthrough tomorrow. And at the same time, by equipping students with workplace skills, universities are also ensuring that their graduates can contribute to society in a more immediate way. So, it's a delicate balance that universities need to strike, like a tightrope walker trying not to fall on either side.二、题目:In some countries, young people are encouraged to work or travel for a year between finishing high school and starting university studies. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages for young people who decide to do this.范文:Hey, you know, this idea of taking a gap year between high school and university, it's kind of a big deal these days. There are some really cool advantages to it.First off, if a young person decides to work during that year, they can earn some money. And let me tell you, money is not a bad thing to have when you're about to start university. You can use it to buy all those textbooks that cost an arm and a leg. For example, I had a friend who worked in acoffee shop during his gap year. He not only made enough to cover his first year textbook expenses but also had some left over for a nice holiday.Traveling during the gap year is also super exciting. It broadens your horizons like nothing else. You get to see different cultures, taste different foods, and meet all kinds of interesting people. Imagine going to Thailand and learning about their unique religious festivals, or going to Italy and feasting on the most delicious pizza and pasta while chatting with the locals. It's like opening a whole new world of experiences that you just can't get from textbooks. However, there are some downsides too. One big problem is that some young people might lose their study momentum. If they take a year off to just travel and have fun, it can be really hard to get back into the study groove. It's like taking a long break from running and then trying to run a marathon all of a sudden. Also, there's the issue of uncertainty. What if something goes wrong during the gap year? Maybe you don't find a good job, or your travel plans fall through due to unforeseen circumstances. This can be really stressful and might even make you question your decision to take a gap year in the first place. All in all, I think taking a gap year can be a great adventure for young people, but they've got to be careful. They need to plan well and make sure they don't forget about their long term goal of getting a good education at university. It's like walking on a thin line between having a great time and not messing up your future educational prospects.。

2024年雅思小作文篇1in many parts of the world,a traditional concept of family called four generations living together has been handed down for thousands of years.in old times, the eldest man usually dominated others without any challenge amid the overpopulated home.in comparison with modern society, such a place should be an effective habitat to keep greed and selfishness ,which is considered as born nature of humans, away as a consequence of helping each other and sharing property between family members under the supervision of the most influential man.however, over a thousand-year period those female members suffered eXtremely tough circumstances of s e X ual discrimination: they were in charge of childcare, household chores, farmingtopsoil clearing and planting, you name it.whats worse, they werent allowed to dine with men at the same table-leftovers filled up their bellies.conversely,in contemporary society,a growing number of females are fighting for more human rights, say, equality to males, and they are gaining ground! how to convincethe fierce female tigers these traditions are their better destiny? no waya better life can never be eXpected by only eliminating greed and selfishness.whereas it ought to be defined along with the following qualities: privacy respected, individual development,no s e X ual discrimination and a fair community with equal opportunities.in addition to my viewpoint,an appropriate way of education would probably a sensible solution to minimize the goddamn greed and selfishness in modern society instead of returning to the old society。

Some people think that zoos are cruel and should be closed down. Others, however, believe that zoos can be useful in protecting wild animals. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.Introduction.Zoos have been a topic of hot debate for quite some time. Some folksare dead set against them, thinking they're just plain cruel. But there are others who see zoos as a sort of savior for wild animals. Well, let's dig into both these views.Body Paragraph 1 Zoos are cruel and should be closed down.On one hand, those who say zoos are cruel have some pretty strong points. First off, think about how animals are cooped up in small enclosures. A lion, for example, which is used to roaming across vastplains in the wild, is stuck in a space that's a fraction of its natural territory. It's like a human being locked in a tiny room for their whole life. That just doesn't seem right. Also, some zoos don't take proper care of the animals. You might see animals looking all sad and listless, with not enough food or clean water. And don't even get me started on those zoos that use animals for entertainment, making them do all sorts of tricks that are not natural to them. It's like forcing a person to be a circus clown against their will. That's just cruel.Body Paragraph 2 Zoos can be useful in protecting wild animals. On the flip side, there are good reasons to believe that zoos can be helpful. For one thing, zoos can be a safe haven for endangered species.Take the panda, for instance. In the wild, they're facing all kinds of threats like habitat loss and poaching. But in zoos, they can be protected, fed well, and even have breeding programs. Zoos can help increase their numbers so that one day they can be reintroduced into the wild.Zoos also play an important educational role. They give people, especially kids, a chance to see these wild animals up close. When you see a gorilla in the flesh, it makes a much bigger impact than just seeing it on TV. It can make people care more about wildlife conservation and understand the importance of protecting these animals' natural habitats.Conclusion.In my opinion, while there are some zoos that are really bad and should be shut down, not all zoos are cruel. The good zoos, the ones that take care of their animals and contribute to conservation and education, should stay. We need to make sure that zoos are well regulated and that the animals' welfare is the top priority. So, it's not a simple black and white situation. Zoos can be both a problem and a solution, depending on howthey're run.。
雅思第一部分写作范文
雅思第一部分写作范文When it comes to the IELTS writing part one, there are some really important things to keep in mind.First off, you gotta read the question super carefully. I can't stress this enough! It's like building a house, you need to know exactly what the foundation should be. If you misread the question, well, you're likely to go off on the wrong track right from the start. For example, if the question asks you to describe a graph about the population change in different cities over five years, don't start writing about the economic situation in those cities. That would be completely wrong! Now, let's talk about how to organize your writing. In general, you want to have an introduction that gives a brief overview of what you're going to write about. You don't need to make it too long or complicated. Just a simple statement like "The graph/chart/diagram shows...". From my point of view, this kind of simple intro is very effective. It gets straight to the point and lets the examiner know you understand what the data is about. Then comes the main body. Here, you describe the key features of the graph or whatever data you've been given. Try to group similar information together. Like, if there are some trends that are going up and some that are going down, you can talk about the upward trends first and then the downward ones. This makes your writing more organized. But don't just list the numbers blindly! You need to show that you can analyze and interpret the data. For instance, instead of just saying "The number increased from 10 to 20", you could say "The number witnessed a significant increase, rising from 10 to 20, which indicates a possible growth trend in this area." I think this way of expressing is much more powerful! In this part, you also might find it useful to use some comparing and contrasting words such as "while", "whereas", "in contrast". They can help you to present the data more clearly. And don't forget to use a variety of sentence structures. Long sentences for detailed descriptions and short sentences to emphasize key points. For example, "The line graph shows a clear upward trend. It's obvious!"Finally, the conclusion. It doesn't have to be very elaborate. Just summarize the main points you've made in the main body. You could say something like "Overall, the data presented in the graph reflects some interesting trends in...".One more thing! Practice makes perfect. The more you practice writing these part - one tasks, the better you'll get at it. You'll start to notice patterns and develop your own style. So keep writing and don't be afraid to make mistakes! This is how we learn, right? Do you feel more confident about writing the IELTS part one now?。

雅思考试写作范文(汇总13篇)
雅思考试写作范文1there has long been controversy over the legality and apparent acceptance of tobacco in society .some hold that cigarettes and other tobacco containing products should be banned, that is, treated as agree with this point of view for the following reasons:although cigarettes do not offer as intense an effect as drugs like heroin and cocaine, they rank higher in the level of dependence it creates in the of smokers try to rid themselves of cigarettes but cannot, because of the physiological dependence they developed, chiefly imputable to its chemical explains why smokers continue their habit despite the numerous health warnings. furthermore, medical science has now proved beyond a doubt that smoking all the other causes of preventable deaths such as alcohol, illegal drugs, aids, suicide, road accidents, fire, and guns, cigarettes still account for more preventable deaths than all of those combined.more disturbingly, whilst the use of heroin is dangerous solely to the users, the use of tobacco endangers those who are in their vicinity as well. this phenomenon, known as passive smoking, nulls the counter-argument that putting one's own health at risk through smoking should be up to one's own individual have shown that the amount of second-hand smoke inhaled by a typical nonsmoker is equivalent to one cigarette smoked per day,and what is more, passive smoking can increase a nonsmoker's chance of getting cancer by ten to thirty two per cent.there are those who will say that the black market created by outlawing tobacco will produce deadlier cigarettes because the product standards of the bootleggers are not as should all bear in mind that legal cigarettes cause roughly four hundred thousand deaths a is hard to imagine the limited distribution provided by the criminal underworld could compete with this tragic figure.to sum up, the harm visited upon our society by tobacco usage is will be no solution other than to control tobacco much in the same way that the government now controls drugs which could allow people to remain attentive to the seriousness of the effects of these substances, and hopefully to prohibit their usage.雅思考试写作范文2Nowadays, the gap between the city and the countryside becomes more and more overt, which arouses colossal concerns. To understand t he solution, let’s take a closer look at the causes of the gap at first. The main reason of the gap is the unequal investment between city and rural area. China is a typical example. While more and more money is being invested to the coastal areas and big cities, such as Beijing and Shanghai, the lack of investment barriers greatly the society development of rural area and western regionsThe low education level partly sharps the gap. There is no doubt that the prime force of productivity is education. However, because of poverty, thousands of people go to work without graduating from primary school. The poorer, the few children go to school. This bad cycle finally leads to the dream of rich becoming a dream that is hard to realize. Moreover, the rural area is short of people with high quality. A survey proved that most of university students, whether they come from city or countryside, choose big cities instead of poor areas to work. The rural area can neither adept talent man nor attract talent man. No wonder the gap is increasing largely.Hence, The government ought to knock itself out to decrease the gap as soon as possible. First, balance the investment between city and rural area. In addition, the education level should be improved, especially pay attention on raising high quality people. Besides, let more people realize the latent capacity of rural area in order to attract talent and investment. The set up of CCTV channel12-western region channel is a good example.Only when the ways mentioned above are realized step by step, can the gap between the cities and the countryside be bridged.雅思考试写作范文3the birth of cars have made an enormous change to our the past,we travel from one place to another only by foot, nowaday, cars can do it .its goes withour saying that the invention of cars bring great benefit to all of as proverb goes:no garden without is not exception.owing a car has a lot of one thing, car provide us the most convient way of can get around freely without spenting a lot of always found driving is so another, its the comfortable to drive a always can stay warm and dry even in rainy whether,in addition, drivers are usually safe in their cars when they are out at night.Cars bring the human merits, their side-effects graudually come to the run a car need a lot of oil, which is getting less and increasing number of cars contribute the lacking of more and more cars are used, the traffic ecpecially in big cities is getting heaver and heavier, which lead to the serious social problem--traffic addition, the inceasing numbers of cars ,which excaust sent a huge quantities of carbon monoxide into make the air of cities unbreathabe,it strip people contact with frensh air.therefore, the new energy should be explored to replace the oil so that our envionmental pollution can be avioded .and the strick law should be issued to keep the numbers of cars under heavier traffic can be solluted!雅思考试写作范文4Private cars vs Public trafficAs traffic problems become more and more serious in many cities of developed and developing countries, their governments have to try hard and loads of money and energy have been spent to deal with them.Firstly, it is not efficient for the commuters to use their private cars to and back from their workplaces. Occasionally we can see they have to sit on the wheels wasting time and fuel in a heavy traffic jam. At the same time, through burning the fossil fuels, green house gas CO2, CO1, acid rain gas SO2, fumes and dusts are being released into the atmosphere, all of which heavily overload the environment. Thirdly, with the increase of private cars, the road trafficaccidents are also rise dramatically. For example, in a city with 5000 cars, there will be at least 250 accidents happening everyday, which also burden the public healthy services. On the contrary, expected public traffic may be an ideal solution to these problems. For example city buses and railways are widely used or being constructed by many cities. People can take buses easily, which can be found every 10 minutes or less in the peak time. Actually, Nottingham Transport Company is building its own light railway in the city, which is announced by the speak man of the company, “It will be completed in the next year, the tickets will be very competitive and at the same time the travel will be very safe and comfortable.”On the other hand, public traffic had its own disadvantages. Usually it cannot provide door-to-door service. It is inconvenient to go shopping by public vehicles. Sometimes you must wait a long time for the train. And quite a lot of people prefer to enjoy driving. In conclusion, developing the public traffic is a useful approach to deal with these difficulties. One possible way, if not the best, is to taxi private cars heavily and use these revenues to provide citizens cheaper public traffic services.雅思考试写作范文5Nowhere in the world has the issue of tobacco been so much debated as inour society. Nowadays, tobacco is more harmful than drug to people’shealth, therefore many people think that smoking is legal that is a direct andprimary reason to induce this kind of problem. The above point is certainlytrue; this essay will outline three reasons. The main reason is that tobacco is a silent killer to smokers. Tobacco isknown to be the probable cause of some 25 different diseases, and for some, such as lung cancer, bronchitis and emphysema, it is the main cause.According to a WHO report four million people die yearly from tobacco-related diseases, that is one death every eight seconds. Tobacco is significantlybecoming a greater cause of death and disability than any other single cause.Another reason is that more and more young people are under 18 years old who smoke cigarette have been blinded by the deceit of tobacconists. Tobacco among adolescents remains stubbornly persistent. Smoking among adolescents rose in the 1990s in several developed countries, such as China,Vietnam and Thailand . While new markets are being opened by the tobacco industry actions, old markets have not been closed. Tobacco is a global threat.Last but not the least reason is the increase in cigarette smuggling. Becauseof tobacco smuggling, the legal retailing and distribution systems are badlyaffected, and faced with increased lawlessness and heavy tax losses. This behavior severely affects the economy. In conclusion, the tobacco should be considered illegal. Perhaps a pack ofcigarettes is less harmful than another drug, but tobacco is actually thebiggest killer of all the drugs.雅思考试写作范文6travelling to a different culture can be an overwhelming, indeed, even an intimidating is very easy for misunderstandings to occur, and tourists are often deterred from places of cultural interest through fear of offending the indigenous would argue,it is up to the locals to accomodate visitors by speaking their language, serving their cuisine, and generally making them 'at home'.without doing this, local perple can be considered as unfriendly and viewed with suspicion by they are dissuaded from staying, which is ultimately detrimental to the local community,as the tourists take their spending-money with them.the counterview argues that acting naturally does not necessarily equate with being a local person wishes to live their life as his or her ancestors have done for centuries then visitors should show respect and allow them to do fact, many would argue that immersing one's self in a different culture is vital in order to truly appreciate is gained bytravelling, potentially, thousands of miles to experience the same language, food and culture that could have been found a few miles down the road from one's is a waste ofmoney, nothing is learned from the experience, and the memories saved will be less vivid. this is the point of view i it is vital for many countries' economies to welcome tourists,it does not have to imitate them so as to encourage their travellers have the right mind-set and show respect, all they need to do is to let the locals carry out their day-to-day lives to gain many insights into the this way, visitor and host can mutually benefit each other, through an increased income, and an enriching experience,respectively.雅思考试写作范文7Recent years, because traffic is convenient day-by-day, people have a more chance to travel around the world. The plane can make us reach any corner of the earth in a short time. Some people think visitors to others countries should imitated local custom and behaviors. Some people disagree; they think the host country should welcome culture different. As the a famous saying goes: Do as they do at Rome. The knowledge of local custom can help outside person adapt to the new environment rapidly. Moreover, each place has the own unique culture, may keep in touch more ideology and culture through the local folkways and customs. For instance, a Chinese people came to Britain, he can imitate British life style. Inthis way, He can understand British habit more thoroughly, thus, make himself live a more comfortable life in Britain. On the other hand, the outside thought has a lot of positive influence on local culture too. For example, the outside thought could bring the new theory and inject vigor into local culture. The exchanges of outside thought and traditional culture can help people to find out about the culture of other areas and countries.Making a general survey of human history, it is a positive trend that the nationality has been merging all the time. So, we should not only propagate local culture for the outside people but also study outside culture and custom. In this way, the earth would become a family, all the people would get along harmoniously.雅思考试写作范文8nowaday,the culture shock exists between the tourists and host people consider should try to model themselves on the local culture and totally agree with the above point.firstlly,by abserving and understanding of local culture, the tourists can reduce the chance of offending the locals and misunderstanding consiously and manchu area of china, people think the dog is their you come there, you must always show respects and love to dog, otherwise it will lead to the embarrassment and conflict.secondly, understanding and following the activites of local people can show our respects to doing things with their way,we will be easy to establish the good relationship with local residents often feel friendly when their culture are imitated and are unconsiously bring us into the members of them.in addition, imitating can let us gain insigts into other not only can know whats people's life is like in other counties,we also can be enlarged our knowledge and broaded our horizon, which will be cherish wealth in our life.to sum should adjust themselves adapt to the local habits and customs, which will make them fully enjoy their travel and live in harmony!雅思考试写作范文9Along with the mass use of computer technology in education circles, we are delighted to witness the uncountable conveniences be brought by computer. Some people even argue that teacher will not be important in classroom any more. Is this reasonable? Personal speaking, I oppose holding such a ridiculous conclusion. In the first place, the feature of teaching defines teachers as an essential part in education. It is well known that teaching is a process of mutual-communication: firstly, teachersimpart/initiate knowledge or ideas to students, then students should promptly transfer their feedback to teachers, moreover, teachers will give students the final interpretation according to their specific requirement. Besides, teachers also can (teach students in accordance of their aptitude). In contrast, what computers can do is merely to display materials which havealready stored in their EMS memory or mechanically execute operator’s commands. We actually can not image what our education will being if computers substitute teachers totally. As to another reason, it seems that teacher’s role as a supervis or is more and more overt. Computer is indeed a controversy, it not only can be an efficient education assistant, but also can become an addiction which includes too much violent and (pornographic propaganda). Youngsters do not mature fully in psychology, therefore, without teachers' supervision, many children would spend hours playing computer games or surfing unhealthy websites, which are regarded as a waste of valuable time and intelligence, instead of trying to have a good command of knowledge and skills. We never deny that computers are absolutely an available education implements, furthermore, the combination of teacher and computer technology will greatly improve our education quality. However, from all of the grounds of argument mentioned above, we can safely draw a conclusion that teacher will not be replaced by computer in the classroom. 雅思考试写作范文10Which element between nature and nurture plays the major role in children’s personality and development is always a controversial problem. Of course, which you prefer depends on your own experience, life style and emotional concern. Here, I would like to illustrate my point of view about it.Admittedly, different nature determines people have distinguished starting points in their lifetime. To beginning, i n light of medical research, a person’s blood type has considerable influence to his character. General speaking, for example, a person whose blood type is A means that his personality is amiable and tender probably. Besides, the physical condition, even a ppearance may influence a person’s development. Statistics shows that beautiful people are more confident than others, because they do not need to worry about the prejudice from public. Obviously, some parts of our personality have been decided when we born.On the other hand, although nature is important during the course of shaping personality, we cannot ignore another essential element, nurture. There are many factors which affect the development of children, both parental support and education being vital influence. It is reported that the kid whose parents are divorced is more likely has psychological troubles than those with a harmonious family. By contrast, as we all know, good education will positively cultivate a person’s personality and improve his self-restraint in a big way.In summary, from what has been discussed above, we may safely arrive at the conclusion that partly because of different nature, partly because of different nurture, people have their unique personality.雅思考试写作范文11The computer is widely used in education and some people think teachers are not playing an important role in the classroom. To what extend do you agree or disagree? With more and more extensive use of computers in education, some people claim that the importance attached to teachers has been jeopardized. Therefore, computers will replaceteachers in the classroom. However, it seems quite clear to me that learning from teachers is the most important way that cannot be substituted for students.Naturally, some people maintain that computer should instead of the old way of education. They hold that the strong function of the computer offers a new mode of education, which is more interesting, more vivid and more acceptable by children. The students will not face to the serious teachers and calm classes any more, which are replaced by a brand-new world offered by the Internet. In addition, this can decrease the investment on the foundational education and save the human resources and material resources. As an assistant, computers do help teachers with their work, but they can never replace the important role of a real teacher. The main functions of any computer are storage and calculation. It cannot think on its own anyway. All the teaching data stored in computers are the essence of teaching experience generalized by many teachers during their work. Hence, to assist education, what a computer can do is just to repeat the contents summarized by real teachers. In addition, each student has different talents and different defects, and accordingly, they may come across various problems during their study. Computer programmer designing the software, however, cannot predict these problems. Therefore, a single computer can never solve these problems without a teacher’s guidanceFurthermore, if the significance of teacher has been weakened, the number of teachers may be decreased, that is to say, many teachers may be laid-off. If such a case comes to reality, series of social problems will break out, such as the drop of working opportunity which will surely make the burden of whole society become heavier and heavier. In conclusion, although computer-aided-education has spread widely, teachers still play s crucial part in the classroom, which cannot and will not be replaced by computer.雅思考试写作范文12In this IT age, computers are widely used in the classroom in order to enrich the methods of teaching. This phenomenon gives some the illusion that the thing teaching students is no longer the teacher but a computer. Personally, I disagree with this opinion. As another machines, computer doesn’t enable to control itself. Though computers are capable of learning from their mistakes and improving on their performance, they need details instructions from human being in order to be able to operate. They can never, as it were lead independent lives, no mention teaching students. In case a computer lacks the control of a teacher, there is no difference between a computer and waste. Not only this, but computers, unlike a teacher, can’t solve a variety of new problems. Everything is developing in today’s society, including education. For example, a student suddenly asks a creative question that the computer isn’t programmed for, it can do nothing, while teacher can explain clearly though abundant teaching experience.Last but not least, the computer can’t communicate with students from emotion. Such as an eyesight or gesture of teacher can transfer his or her idea and feeling to students. In this way, students can feel more human touch in the class. In comparison, the computer is too dry and dusty to understand. All in all, no matter how nice a computer is, it can’t take the place of teacher. Of course, I don’t mean that computer is useless. In contrary, I believe it will become the most powerful assistants to teacher in further.雅思考试写作范文13Computer, the most exciting and significant invention in 20 century, will reshape our lives and our world. As a result, some people proclaim that computers should be involved into our classroom, and replace the roles of human teachers. However, I cannot agree with their point of view.Admittedly, as the useful tools, computers can become the optimum assistants for human teachers in the classroom. To beginning, vivid pictures shown on screen can motivate students’ interest and curiosity dramatically. Moreover, the combination of computers and Internet can provide children the abundant information. Although computers enjoy considerable merits, they cannot compare with human teachers for two main reasons. Among countless factors which influence my inclination, there is a most conspicuous one: computers are not as qualified as human teachers in academic fields. As we all know, students can get the final result of a mathematic question under the help of computers, however, they are still confused on the whole computing process. By contrast, our human teachers’ performance is much better in those cases. They not only can teach students how to analyze and compute the question, but also can remind them what are the possible errors that they may meet. Thus, human teachers are more adequate than computers in academic aspect. The second advantage of human teachers is they can guide students to deal with some psychological problems that they meet in schools. In China, sometimes, teachers even burden many responsibilities that students’ parents have. For example, as for the student with rebellious spirit, the important duty for teachers is to prevent the student from campus violence, even crime. Obviously, computers cannot do that.In summary, from what has been discussed above, we may safely arrive at the conclusion that the positions of human teachers are unshakable, and computers cannot take the places of them.。

大作文1题目:Children who grow up in families which are short of money are better prepared to deal with the problems of adult life than children who are brought up by wealthyparents. To what extent do you agree or disagree?参考范文:Some feel that the children of low income families are better equipped to deal with difficulties posed by the “real world” when they grow up and they also believe the privileged children of wealthy families are less fit to deal with these difficulties. The implications and veracity of this argument seem self-evident,but in fact require closer examination. The popular wisdom is that children of poorer families learn early on the value of a buck ,and are thus naturally better suited to stretching money when times get tough in adulthood. Inversely, the children of wealthy families, thoseborn with a silver spoon in their mouths, are believed to be completely ignorant of the tentimes erroneously expecting the same situation in adulthood. They are believed to be prone to overspending and financial irresponsibility. This belief, though logical, overlooks one key point which is,of course, education. The basis of this argument is,of course, knowing the value of money ,and the idea that children of the poor know this, and those of the wealthy do not.Who though,is in a better positionto teach their children the value of money, someone skilled in earning and keeping it,the wealthy parent,or someone who can not seem to acquire it,the poor parent? Both wealthy and poor children are equally likely to acquire an education in money, whether it is formal,or in the school of hard knocks. Conversely, both children are as likely to ignore this education.A poor child may believe that one can get along,if not as easily, without wealthy.A wealthy child may be well trained by a parent steepedin the knowledge of money management, the key to developing this skill is education.2题目 Everyone complains about taxes, yet think about what would happen if there were no longer an income tax. In a 250-word essay, discuss the positive effects of an income tax, the negative effects, or both.参考范文It hurts to look at a paycheck and see how much of it was taken out for income tax. That money could have paid some important bills. It is easy to dream of doing away with the income tax and keeping all that money for ourselves. If there were no income tax, however, the government would have a lot less to spend. The money we send to Washington seems to fall into a black hole and disappear. Actually, though, many people depend on it. The money pays the salaries of government employees, who provide services from drug control to highway building. It supports our military defense. Also, much of the money is returned to people in the form. of student loans, veterans' benefits, and payments to farmers, for example. The government has been working to cut its budget lately. With every cut, someone complains loudly. So if the income tax were eliminated, other taxes would have to make up for it. Paying those other taxes would also hurt. Sales taxes fall most heavily on poor people. Taxes on manufacturers only result in higher prices to consumers.Income taxes are not fun to pay. But doing without them would be worse. In my opinion, income taxes should be made as fair as possible. Then we each must "bite the bullet" and do our share.3 题目Nowadays there is more and more TV advertisement, and there is a lot of misinformation in some of these advertisements. Some people think that consumers have the right to know the correct information and that government should restrict the contents of these advertisements. What is your opinion?参考范文No one can avoid being influenced by advertisements and advertising exerts a tremendous influence on us. Recently, there are people who are of the opinion that public has the right to know the correct information of the advertisements and government also should restrict the contents of these advertisements. Personally I agree with this opinion for the following reasons. In the first instance, consumers have the right to know the correct information before deciding on whether to buy them. Advertisements are highly information that helps people to make choice before they go to buy what they need. If the advertisement exaggerates the products it also will persuade people into buying things, which they don’t really want.Secondly, any misleading advertisements will lead to the marketing tricks, causing chaos in the market. Too many misleading advertisements are barrio to distinguishing between decent products or products of bad quality. His bread in truth is made with soy flour, while he advertises it as white bread. These misleading information causes illegal competition.Last but not least, government should stipulate l aws in consumers’ interests. According to the laws, advertisements must be truthful. If the advertisements mislead consumers, government can impose great fine on them to set a lesson. In general, the role of advertisements is inevitable and undeniable. A good advertisement can be a bridge between business and consumers and helps keep business moving. So we need correct information and government also needs to restrict the contents of advertisements. Let misinformation of advertisements be far away from us.4 题目Most people have dreams of one day becoming rich. But does the average person have the ability to make a lot of money? Think about this question. Then write about 250 words describing your thoughts.参考范文When lack of money prevents us from having something we want very much, it is tempting to dream of being rich. It is hard to keep in mind that Americans are already wealthy compared with people in many other parts of the world. Our modern conveniences would have been the envy of kings in times past. Just the same, most people would like a larger. Whether most people are capable of making a lot of money is another question.People in average circumstances can often get ahead through education, hard work, and careful money management. But getting ahead is not the same as actually becoming rich.Only a small percentage of Americans could be called truly wealthy. Some people joined this group from ordinary beginnings. Usually they have done it by carefully riding some major development in the economy on its way up. In the past, great fortunes have been made in oil, steel, and railroads. Recently, some people have made millions in computers and real estate.Usually, though, it takes money to make money. Big investors often start rich and then get richer. Most of us cannot strike oil or start the next new technical breakthrough. Most people are not born into wealthy families, either. In America it certainly is possible to become more prosperous. But unless someone wins the lottery, real wealth is not very likely to come along.5 题目Surveys show that more people get the news by watching television than by reading the newspaper. Think about whether TV news shows are adequate as a person's only source of news. Write an essay of about 250 words that details your thoughts.参考范文Television news shows are dramatic and interesting. Watching them is pleasant and does not require the effort of reading. If television did not cover the news, some people would know nothing about what is going on in the world. However, television newscasters cover only the events that they have time for, and they prefer stories that include some dramatic pictures. Viewers are quickly bored with reporters who sit and talk into the camera. As a result, a complicated story is often cut short.Newspapers and magazines do a better job of explaining complex events. They can include details, and a person with a special interest can take the time to read them. Others can stick to the headlines.Reading allows more freedom of choice than television. The TV audience cannot decide which stories to watch. In broadcasting, "one size fits all". However, a person who reads newspapers and magazines can choose to spend time on business, sports, health, or the school board election, depending on special interests.Television provides a useful glance at what's happening. However, a person who has individual interests and who wants the whole story needs newspapers and magazines as well.6 题目For many years the nuclear family, consisting of father, mother, and children, was considered to be the normal family pattern in China's society. Yet in many other cultures and in our own in the past, three generations--grandparents, parents, and children--often have lived together. What are the advantages and disadvantages of three generations living together? Give specific examples in a 250-word essay.参考范文Three generations living together can have both financial and personal advantages. On the other hand, it can also have personal disadvantages. In years past and today, three generations have probably lived together mostly out of economic necessity or advantage. Sometimes a young family moves in with the older generation because thehusband and wife can't afford a place of their own. Sometimes grandparents move in because they aren't well enough or can't afford to live alone anymore. Occasionally, grandparents come to take care of the children so both parents can work. In times past, and sometimes today, three generations have lived together because they all depended on the same farm or business.Usually these arrangements do help solve financial and practical problems. Everyone has a roof over his or her head. Children and old people in need of care are likely to get it. Often a family can get ahead financially by sharing the work and the bills. In addition, a strong sense of family and of belonging can develop in everyone. What may be harder to work out are questions of who's in charge. If grandparents don't let go of some authority, the middle generation is likely to resent it. On the other hand, ailing grandparents may force their children to be parents to them and to their own children as well. If parents and grandparents disagree on discipline, children may be confused or angry. The personal disadvantages can be overcome. For three generations to live together successfully, everyone's needs must be respected.7 题目Sports are very popular in today's society. Some people believe, Winning is the only thing. Others believe, “It’s not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game. Is there a way in sports in which both opponents could win a game? Lose a game? Detail your thoughts on this issue in an essay of about 250 words.参考范文Sports include both national teams and the teams for the rest of us. The national teams are mainly concerned with winning and with money. The other teams are mainly concerned with winning and with money. The other teams provide different satisfactions.Being on a team helps people learn teamwork - to rely on others and to do their own part as well. Players learn both to win and to lose. When the team loses, the members learn that they can come back from a loss. They look for the reasons they were beaten, work on their weaknesses, and try again. When the team wins, the members can learn to be gracious winners and good sports.Sports are also for play. Most of us have work to do most of the time. Now and then we need to have fun. Sports can provide the time to relax. If a team helps people learn to work together, lose win, and have fun, it's a winner regardless of the score. But if players on a winning team have not worked together, if they feel that winning makes them better than others, if there was no joy in the sport, those winners are losers.Having the winning score is important. Being a winner as a person is worth even more. As a convincing maxim of friendship first and competition second suggests, we should adhere to equivalence of wining and losing.8 题目Some people live in one community in their entire lives, others move at least once; some quite often. Compare and contrast moving to different parts of the country versus living in one community in your entire life. Write about 250 words.参考范文Some people live in one community all their lives, while others move around almost as much as nomads. Both experiences have their advantages and disadvantages.People who stay in one spot can develop lifelong friendships, and such friends may lend a hand if trouble comes. They know each other's life history, and they judge each other for the kind of person each is, not for the image each projects.Yet spending a lifetime in one location can also lock a person into a limited way of life. Personal change may become very difficult. People with few experiences may develop a narrow outlook and find it hard to understand those who have different ethnic, racial, or religious backgrounds. On the other hand, moving to different parts of the country is usually stressful. A person may feel lost and uprooted in a place where streets, stores, schools, and churches all are different. At first there are no friends to help. However, those who do move learn that people in other places have a variety of outlooks. There is a chance to appreciate different ways of life and even to choose the way one likes best. For a person who moves to a different place year after year, the disadvantages of moving probably outweigh the advantages. But a few moves are probably worth the effort. By staying in each place for a length of time, people can broaden their outlook but have enough time to make adjustment and form. friendships.9 题目Materialism means placing great importance on material things such as clothes, property, and furniture. Many people complain that modern society is too materialistic. Are people in these times “what they own “or “what they are “? Explain your thoughts on the matter in an essay of about 250 words.参考范文Many people complain that modern society is too materialistic. Other people, they say, place too great an importance on material property. Rather than value values, these critics insist, people today value things. There is no doubt that we live in a material, consumer-oriented society. In economic terms, consumers use products; in everyday language, they acquire things: TVs, cars, clothes, furniture. This kind of materialism can actually be good for a society since it helps create jobs. When people have jobs, they acquire self-respect along with the money they need to provide the material things they and their families require. It is true, on the other hand, that many people have taken healthy consumerism too far. Materialism is evident when an otherwise intelligent person goes into debt charging things that he or she cannot pay for. Materialism is evident when people insist on buying a particular designer label even though the same quality can be found in a cheaper product. Materialism is evident when people are judged and admired for what they own rather than what they are or can do.Even if society has gone too far in the direction of materialism, as some say, the individual person doesn't need to surrender. He or she can still value honesty, integrity, freedom, talent, quality, and all the other values there are to value and leave the materialism to others.10 题目The production and transportation of food has been greatly changed by modern technology. To what extent do you think this is a positive or a negative development?参考范文The production and transportation of food has been greatly changed by modern technology. To what extent do you think this is a positive or a negative development? It is undeniable that the advancement of modern technology has given rise to countless changes of the production and transportation of food. While a host of people argue that the modern industrialization of food supply owes an explanation to the consumers of the products which have caused numerous controversies over the reliability and negative effects they may have on their consumers, I feel much obliged to be supportive as well as critical of such plausible but emotional perspective.Food industry has never seen such a boost in producing and transporting of food with advanced technologies. However, even if technologies are seen neutral, the compromises they have been made to meet the demands of business or more precisely the maximization of profits have been extremely detrimental to the reputation of the specific technologies being used. For instance, the junk food they provide in KFC, specifically the Nuggets. You don’t even know which part of the chicken you are eating, for the machines have made it impossible for us mere mortals to distinguish the ingredients from the shape and smell of the product. More significantly, the way it is made, transported and served is highly industrialized and standardized, that is to say, this kind of food is rather a product of the pursuit of profits than a nutritious meal intended for keeping people healthy and happy. The people who insist that the manufacturers of the products should take the full responsibility of the problems have unfortunately neglected the positive aspect of the modern production and transportation of food and other factors like lack of exercising which may well contribute to their conditions. The efficiency of reallocating resources against its scarcity to the demands of humans as a whole has always been an unassailable reply to the questioning of modern capitalism and industrialization. And admittedly healthiness is not solely connected to the intake of food. One’s exercising plan may carry more weight than his or her diet.Based on the elaboration of the argument, a conclusion can be easily made that food changes are less favorable when we compared with traditional diets, whereas they could be more welcomed if we be wiser when we start to appreciate the value of economic efficiency and balance our diets with regular workouts.雅思小作文1 You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. The table shows the results of a survey in 2004 which asked undergraduate and postgraduate students of a UK university whether they were satisfied with the facilities at the university. You should write at least 150 words.Response to 07.02.03 Writing Task 1The diagram gives a breakdownabout different attitudes among undergraduate and postgraduate students towards equipmentsof a UK college in 2004.While being questioned about the contentmentof study facilities, two groups of students (both graduate and undergraduate) seemed to share the same point of view, where [wv]approximately[w/v]85% of both students (two thirds of them showed their thorough support) expressed their satisfaction, leaving only around 15% students feeling in an oppositeway. However, divergenceemerged among college students and students who were after Master’s Degree when it came to questions about the school catering service and social establishment. The majority of university undergraduates (97%) favored the college canteen, whereas 16% of postgraduates, 13% higher than their university counterparts, showed their reluctance. On the contrary, undergraduates appeared to be more complaining about social facilities, with 30% students announcing their dissatisfactionwhich exceeded the proportion of criticism within graduate students by 25%.Overall speaking, most of the UK college students had a high comment on the campus appliance, yet undergraduates tended to be relatively harsher than graduate students2 Writing 1 Task 1You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. Write your answer in a word processing program on your computer. The table below shows the results of a survey to find out what members of a city sports club think about the club's activities, facilities and opening hours.Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make any comparisons where relevant.Write at least 150 words.Club satisfaction survey tableRange of activities--------Very satisfied---------Satisfied---------Not satisfiedFerrale members---------------35%----------------------35%-------------------30%Male memebers----------------55%----------------------40%---------------------5%Club facilitiesFerrale members---------------64%----------------------22%-------------------14%Male members------------------63%----------------------27%-------------------10%Opening hoursFemale members---------------72%----------------------25%--------------------3%Male members------------------44%----------------------19%-------------------37%范文:The table compares the opinions of male and female club members about the services provided by a city sports club.We can see from the responses that the male members are generally happy or satisfied with the range of activities at the club, with only 5% dissatisfied. In contrast, however, only about two-thirds of female members were positive about the activity range and almost a third were dissatisfied. The genders were more in agreement about the club facilities. Only 14% of women and 10% of men were unhappy with these, and the majority (64 and 63% respectively) were very positive. Finally, the female respondents were much happier with the club opening hours than their male counterparts. Almost three-quarters of them were very satisfied with these and only 3% were unhappy, whereas nearly 40% of the men expressed their dissatisfaction.Overall, the table indicates that female members are most unhappy with the range of activities, while male members feel that opening hours are the least satisfactory aspect of the club.3 Task1In Cool Climates special attention is given to the use of building materials that have a high “Thermal Mass”. Insulation is used on the outside of heavy materials such as co ncrete, brick or adobe. This kind of material stores heat and slowly releases it while external insulation ensures that all heat absorbed by the wall materials is released inside the building. Careful positioning of the building and large windows facing winter sunlight also assist to passively heat the house. The roof has an extreme angle to assist with snow runoff and roof overhang does not interfere with sunlight.Homes in Warm Climates require the opposite approach. Insulation and reflective roof material aims to keep heat from the sun out. Windows are placed under a wider roof overhang so that they are shaded from direct light in the day and so that cooler night air can move through the house when the windows are open. Construction materials such as wood and steel have low Thermal Mass and gain and lose heat quickly.4 Task1A “Solar Still” can be easily made to demonstrate that there is often water in even the driest places. We can collect water with little more than a sheet of plastic and a container. We first dig a hole several feet deep in the ground and place a container at its center. Put as much green living plant material as you can find around the container. Grass, tree leaves and other plants all contain water. In the day time the sun causes water in the plants to evaporate. Place the plastic film over the hole using stones to keep it in place as the diagram shows. Leaving a dip in the center, the plants’ water will condense on the inside of the plastic and will drip into the container. We can also collect early morning dew in the center of the dip too. Evaporation is the name of the process when water turns from a liquid into a gas. Condensation is the process when water turns from a gas to a liquid.5 Task1The low cost of land, easy access by both road and rail and the expected boom in housing planned for the West of G township, makes Site S2 an attractive choice for our supermarket. It is also geographically closer to Town H, the other large municipality in the area and avoids the industrial zones located North and South of G.Site S1, inside the town center, is not a suitable option due to the higher costs. And access for customers and suppliers will be extremely difficult now that it has been zoned a traffic-free area.Lower land cost will allow us to have large areas of parking to accommodate rapidly increasingprivate car ownership and attached facilities will enable owners to have their cars serviced while they are shopping.A free bus service, recreational park and first class shopping facilities will make shopping a family event and the clean country location will be part of a positive experience.6 WRITING TASK 1You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. The graph below gives information about cinema attendancein Australia between 1990 and the present, with projections to 2010.Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.Write at least 150 words. The graph shows percentages of cinema attendance at least once a year in Australia between 1990 to 2010 with projections for the future. The graph is described by 4 groups of different ages which are 14 to 24, 25 to 34, 35 to 49 and over 50 year olds. The youngest age group people have been going to cinema more than any other age groups and the percentage has been keeping very high at approximately90% since 1990. It is predicted to keep the high and to increase more from 2006.The middle age groups people have enjoyed going cinema between 60% to 80%. The percentage of age 25 to 34 group has been higher than the one of age 35 to 49 group but from 2006 the percentage of 25 to 34 year olds people will decrease while the one of 35 to 49 year olds people will increase and get higher than the other one.The oldest people seem to go cinema less than the other groups but the percentageof the attendance has slightly going up by 15% from 40% to 55% between 1990 to 2004 and it will keep increasing to 60% by 2010.Overall, it seems the younger age people, the more going to cinema.7 The chart below shows the figures for imprisonment in five countries between 1930 and 1980.Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information shown below. The chart compares the figures for criminal imprisonment in five countries over a span of 50 years from 1930 to 1980.As can be seen from the chart, the figures for the United States, Canada and New Zealand stood out as being really significant and all the designated countries revealed rather dramatic changes in the imprisonment figures across the board over the 50 years.Firstly, the imprisonment figures of UK were on a steady rise. We see that in 1930, there were 30,000 cases, but in 1980, it became 85,000 cases. The period during 1940-1970 saw the fastest increaseSecond, the situation of Australia was quite similar to that of New Zealand, but not as dramatic. Here we see that in 1930, the cases for Australia was 70,000 while New Zealand had a very highnumber of 100,000 cases. Then in 1940, the figures for the two countries both dropped substantially, with New Zealand dropping by almost 45,000 cases. In 1950, New Zealand went on with its trend of slight decrease while Australia showed a minor increase. Later, in 1960, both countries experienced great rises and reached 70,000 cases and 78,000 cases respectively. The year 1970 saw an interesting scene: the figures for UK, Australia and New Zealand drew even at 79,000 cases. Then in 1980, we see that Australia dropped substantially while New Zealand continued its upward trend.Third, U.S. and Canada both had very big starting figures in 1930, 100,000 cases and 120,000 cases respectively. In 1940, U.S. rose rapidly to 130,000 cases while Canada decreased by 10,000 cases. In 1950, things changed dramatically, with US dropping by about 20,000 cases while Canada rising to 115,000 cases. In 1960, U.S. rose while Canada fell and the figures for both countries were 118,000 cases and 102,000 cases respectively. The two countries both saw substantial decreases in 1970, with US falling to 95,000 cases and Canada dropping to 83,000 cases. 1980 witnessed an astounding increase margin with US and the figure rose with great momentum to 138,000 cases and Canada climbed up to 90,000 cases. Thus we see that imprisonment in the five countries underwent many changes across the 50 years8 WRITING TASK 1You should spend about 20 minutes on this taskThe two bar charts show the percentages of male and female students in secondary and higher education for four different regions in the world.Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant. You should write at least 150 words.Sample Answer:The two bar charts demonstrate the proportions of boys and girls in two broad categories of education in four different regions of the world. In general, it is apparent that there are more girls than boys in either secondary or higher education across all the four areas, with two exceptions. In secondary education, Europe has by far the highest percentages of boy and girl students –95% and 100%, respectively – which are 9 and 5 times that of their peers in Sub-Saharan Africa. The situations in Latin America and East Asia are comparable –between 40% and 50% for both genders. While the former has slightly more girls than boys, the reverse is true for the latter.Turning to higher education, although Europe still takes the leading position, the percentages among the four regions are quite close to each other. Whereas Europe beats Sub-Saharan Africa。

• China’s, on the other hand, showed a much smaller increase of 8 percent to 28 percent over the same time period. At this point, however, the trend failed to follow the same pattern because the growth in India’s population actually fell to around 23 percent by 1980, whereas China’s rose to 43 percent: almost double that of India’s. Nevertheless, by the end of the century the population growth in India stood at around 32 percent, whereas China’s fell to an incredible 9 percent, less than half of that at the beginning of the century.
