英语广告翻译实例例1龙岩咸脆花生,引进国外先进生产技术与设备,畅销日本、韩国及东南亚。
国内常用引进先进技术生产来增强广告吸引力和说服力,但这对欧美等英语国家的受众来说毫无吸引力。
他们所推崇的是食品的口味,成分是否天然、无污染、有益健康等。
在广告文案中一味强调生产技术与设备如何如何先进(而且还是从国外即这些国家引进的),最终只是“无的放矢”,完全没有击中要害。
这就是社会文化差异造成的语用失误。
英、汉广告各自依托和反映的文化存在巨大差异,即中国人与英美人的广告文化共享性差,因而带有明显汉文化痕迹的译文难为英美读者接受。
因此需对广告背后的文化,特别是背后的文化差异进行剖析,借助译入语的文化优势,进行补偿性的翻译。
在语篇层面上我们尽可能地保留原文的立意、构思与表现手法,力求再现原文的创意美;在词句层面上我们应侧重传译其效果,不必囿于原文的表达法。
前文所提到的所有广告英语的语言特性都应考虑到并适时采用,但又并非只是机械地对等翻译。
请看龙岩咸脆花生广告的不同翻译版本:张春柏. 商务英语写作.第2册[M]. 北京:高等教育出版社,2001:325.此版本多处采用了我们之前讨论过的广告英语修辞手法。
标题句采用仿拟,模仿英语国家读者熟悉的美国著名诗人Patric Henry的名言:“Give me Liberty, or give me death”. 同时Peanuts 又和Nuts 押韵,儿童在要求得不到满足的情况下往往会一发疯。
这种直白的语气,非常贴近真实生活,不仅容易吸引读者注意,而且容易印入他们的脑海,甚至能博得父母亲们的会心一笑。
“Crack”一词在这里的使用,又巧妙地体现了双关的修辞手段。
因为Crack除了用于“Crack a nut"——砸开坚果、使坚果裂开的意思以外,还可表示解决难题、揭示秘密等。
除此以外,文案中还多次出现了自创的词语拼缀,在不影响意思表达的前提下使行文更为凝练简洁。

广告作为一种应用语言,是当今社会广泛使用的交流媒介。
为了使广告具有特殊的感染力,许多广告都是经多番推敲而成,用词优美独到,句法简练而内涵丰富,具有强烈的艺术感染力和语言艺术美。
当美学与广告英语的翻译“联姻”,译者笔下的译文将发生哪些具体的变化呢?
一、音韵美
1.Big thrills , small bills. (出租车广告)
a)大刺激,小花费。
b)莫大的激动,微小的费用。
音韵美是指广告词发音响亮、节奏分明、富有乐感,给人以听觉上美的享受。
广告英语常利用各种语音表现手段来取得美音效果。
上例中,原文与译文b 都押尾韵,使得译句与原句同样精彩,朗朗上口,易于传诵。
2. Red hot fashion at Ravel . Sizzling styles. All these and many , many more. In a riot of colors, plain or what you fancy. You want it . We‟ve got it .Revel . Who else ? (鞋子广告)
a)拉维尔火爆时尚,款式新颖,所有这些以及更多,花哨的,朴素的,或您所喜欢的,您想得到它,我们拥有它,除了拉维尔,还会有谁?
b) 拉维尔火爆时尚,咝咝发烫的新潮款式,所有这些以及许许多多,色彩缤纷的,简简单单的,应有尽有,包您满意。

上例中,译文a 与译文b 相比,不难发现译文b 因使用了汉语表达的叠音词而朗朗上口,其音韵美又为意境的营造推波助澜,有声有色、有动感地描述了鞋子的式样、颜色与款式,使商品形象活灵活现地再现于受众眼前。
而译文a 并非误译,但读来逊色。
3. Pepsi - Cola hits the spot , Twelve fu llounces , that‟s a lot , Twice as much for a nickel ,too , Pepsi - Cola is the drink for you. (百事可乐广告)
a) 百事可乐满足需要,12 盎司, 就是全部,5元钱买24 盎———百事可乐是您的饮料。
b) 百事可乐味道好,足足12 盎量不少,五元钞票买24 盎,百事可乐供您享。
两译相比,区别凸现。
译文a 仅达意而已,原文为广告诗,译文b与原文同样精彩,形式一致,押韵方式一致,均为a ,a ,b ,b ,和谐匀称,韵律优美。
二、形象美
4. Easier dusting by stre - e - etch. (除尘布广告)
a) 拉长牌除尘布除尘力强。
b) 拉拉拉长,除尘力强。
Stretch 一词除了作为除尘布的品牌名称“拉长”外,其拼写还被别出心裁地拉长,传达出该词的本意“延伸”。
译文b 中“拉”字的重复再现了原文中stretch 一词被拉长的效果,形成感觉上的延伸,真切而形象地渲染了产品的功效。
而译文a 却轻易地抹去了原文的形象美。
5.Apple Thinks Different . (苹果电脑)
a) 苹果电脑,与众不同。
b) 苹果电脑,不同凡“想”。
这条广告标语Thinks Different ,言简意赅地说明了要宣传的内容。
译文b把“不同凡响”稍作改动,谐音置换变成“不同凡…想‟”,符合语境,较之译文a ,形象更为风趣幽默。
三、简约美
6.When you're sipping Lipton , you're sipping something special . (红茶广告)
a)当您在品尝立顿红茶时,即在品味其独特性。
b)饮立顿红茶,品独到风味。
7. Fresh up with Seven - up. (饮料广
告)
a) “七喜”饮料会使您提神醒脑。
b) 君饮“七喜”,醒脑提神。
言以洁为“美”,尤其是在广告英语中。
译文a与译文b相比,美感甚少,原
因在于它缺乏广告语简短、有力的特
点;而译文b则构型短小,文字醒目,
很好地表现了广告语言的风格。
四、创造美
8.What it's like to be small but good. (旅店广告)
a) 它虽小,却很好。
b) 麻雀虽小,五脏俱全。
译文a仅达意而已,译文b中,译者从原文的意义出发,寻觅到了一个新的形象,创造了原句所无的美。
看了该广告,注重舒适完备,想省钱又想得到周全服务的旅客都想去亲身一试。
9.All is well that ends well . (香烟广告)
a) 结局好,全都好。
b) 烟蒂好,烟就好。
这则广告实际上是一条英语成语,译文a是该成语的意义,置于广告中,读者一时难解原句之妙,而译文b 则是灵感思维的绝妙产物,在香烟广告中,ends 就具有了双重意义: 动词“结束”和名词“香烟蒂”,能寻到这样一词两义的妙趣,译者一定能享受到创造的
乐趣。
10. Fresh food and fresh a ir. The perfectrecipe for a healthy life.I‟ve chosen. It‟s candy. (Candy 冰箱广告标题)
a) 新鲜食物和新鲜空气。
健康生活的最佳处方。
我已作出了选择,它就是Candy 冰箱
b) 新鲜食物+ 新鲜空气。
健康生活的绝妙处方。
我选定了Candy 冰箱
译文a 的翻译已经无懈可击,但是,当我们把目光移到译文b,译者将原文第一个句子片段中的“and”译为引人注目的加号“ + ”,把“perfect recipe”译为“绝妙处方”,将“I've chosen. It's candy.”采用综合法处理。
译文译得简练、传神,既活又“信”。
如果译者的创造美在译文中活灵活现地跳跃着,就一定会打动读者的心,引起美的共鸣。
这样的广告译文才能给消费者以美的享受,使其在轻松愉快中接受商品信息,从而达到
广告的诉求目的。
