Step 1 Greeting
Greet the students as usual.
Step 2 Word power — Compound words
1.T:Today I'll introduce to you a way of creating new words—compound words. Compound words are words that are created by putting two or more words together. There are compound adjectives and compound nouns. Read the two sentences on Page 26 and pay attention to the words in blue. Can you tell their parts of speech? Are they adjectives or nouns?
(nouns: 110-metre, sportsperson adjectives: well-trained , hard-working )
2. Get the Ss to find some compounds in the reading passage.
many well-known athletes, the gold-medal-winning USA basketball team.
4. Tell other ways of making compounds.
