1My Best FriendHi there! My name is Timmy and I'm in 5th grade. I'm going to tell you all about my very best friend in the whole wide world - Charlie!Charlie and I have known each other since we were just little guys in kindergarten. We met on the very first day of school when we were both put in Mrs. Wilson's class. I remember walking into the classroom feeling really nervous and scared because it was my first day ever at a big kid school. But then I saw Charlie sitting all by himself looking just as worried as me. He had these big brown eyes and a mop of messy black hair. Without even thinking about it, I plopped myself down right next to him at his table."Hi, I'm Timmy," I said, sticking out my hand to shake his.Charlie just stared at me for a second like he wasn't sure what to do. But then he broke out into a big goofy grin and shook my hand back. "Charlie," he said simply. And just like that, we were instant best friends! From that day on, Charlie and I were totally inseparable. We did everything together at school - played at recess, ate lunch, worked on our projects side-by-side. Our favorite thing was making up crazy stories and adventures for the characters we drew. Charlie was an amazing artist and could draw the coolest pictures of superheroes and monsters and spaceships. I wasn't quite as good at drawing, but I loved coming up with the wild plots for our tales. We'd spend hours and hours lost in our imaginary worlds of good vs. evil, magic, outer space, you name it!After school we lived pretty close together, so we were always at each other's houses too. Whether it was watching movies, playing video games, building forts and having Nerf gun battles, or just goofing around outside, we never got bored when we were together. I have an older sister who thought we were both weirdos, but we didn't care. We were having too much fun being 8-year-old goofballs! Some of my favorite memories with Charlie are from the summers when we went to day camp together. We'd spend the whole day running around like maniacs, playing capture the flag, canoeing, shooting arrows, and doing all sorts of activities. At night we'd gather around the campfire, roast s'mores and tell scary stories that gave us the chills. Those were the best weeks ever!Don't get me wrong, Charlie and I didn't always get along perfectly. We had our fair share of fights and arguments like all friends do. Like the time we both wanted to be the red Power Ranger for Halloween and couldn't agree on who got to wear the costume. Or when we got in a huge wrestling match over the last ceesestick and ended up breaking a lamp (whoops!). But even when we were mad at each other, it never lasted too long before we made up and became buddies again. Now we're both in 5th grade and have started to grow apart a little bit. We're getting interested in different things and hanging out with different friend groups at school. Just the other day I overheard Charlie talking about his new favorite basketball team and realized I had no clue who he was even talking about! It makes me sad to think that my bestie and I might not stay asclose as we used to be. But I'll always cherish the amazing friendship we had for so many years when we were little kids.I really lucked out having a best friend like Charlie. We've been through so many adventures and made so many crazy memories together over the years. No matter how old we get or what happens, he'll always be my number one pal. I just hope that when we're all grown up, our kids can be best friends just like us!篇2My Summer VacationThis summer was the best summer ever! I had so much fun and did a lot of cool things. First of all, I went to camp for two whole weeks. Summer camp is my favorite place in the world. I went to Camp Wildwood again this year and got to stay in the bear cabin just like last year.At camp we did all sorts of activities like swimming, hiking, canoeing, archery, arts and crafts, and roasting marshmallows over the campfire. My favorite was definitely the canoeing because I got to splash around in the lake and act silly with my friends. One time, me and Johnny accidentally tipped our canoe over and fell into the water! We were both soaking wet but justlaughed and laughed. The counselors had to come fish us out. Whoops!Another fun thing we did at camp was put on a talent show on the last night. I did a magic show with Billy where we pretended to saw a counselor in half. The other kids screamed so loud when he came out from behind the curtain! Just kidding, we didn't actually saw anyone. But we did make a box that looked like we cut him in two pieces. The audience went wild and gave us a huge round of applause at the end. I'm not sure if they actually thought it was magic or not. After camp, my family went on a big road trip to the Grand Canyon. We drove for three whole days to get there! I had to keep asking "Are we there yet?" every five minutes until my parents finally said yes. When we arrived, I couldn't believe how huge the canyon was. It seemed to go on forever and ever. We went hiking along the rim trail and took about a million pictures. My dad tried to get us to pose while hanging off the edge, but mom said "Absolutely not!" She was worried we would fall in, but I'm not scared of heights at all.We also rode million-year-old mules down into the canyon itself. Those mules were older than the dinosaurs! My mule's name was Wendy and she was pretty stubborn. She didn't wantto go at first until the guide gave her a smack on the rump. Then she started trotting along just fine. Going down into the canyon was like entering a whole new world. The rocks changed colors from red to orange to purple. It was incredible! We stayed overnight at a little hut and I got to sleep in a real cowboy bedroll. Definitely one of the coolest experiences of my life so far. After the Grand Canyon, we camped for a few nights in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. We saw huge elk with massive antlers and went on a super long hike to a waterfall.I asked if we could go swimming in the waterfall pool, but dad said it was too dangerous because the current was too strong. Plus the water was basically ice cold from the snowmelt. No thanks, I'll pass on that! We saw a mama bear with two baby cubs along the trail too. The ranger told us to make noise by banging our hiking poles together so we didn't surprise them. I tried making my loudest growling bear no篇3My Awesome Summer VacationYay, summer vacation was here! No more school for a whole 2 and a half months. I was super duper excited. My parents saidwe were going on a big trip to somewhere really cool. I could hardly wait to find out where!A few days before we left, Mom and Dad finally told me and my little sister Annie where we were going. They said we were flying on a plane all the way to Hawaii! I had learned a little bit about Hawaii in school. It's a bunch of islands way out in the Pacific Ocean. Palm trees, beaches, sunshine, it sounded like a totally awesome place. Annie and I started giggling and jumping up and down we were so happy. The morning we left for our trip, we had to wake up really really early before the sun came up. That was hard because I love sleeping in during summer. But I forced myself out of bed because I couldn't wait to get to the airport. Our neighbors gave us a ride to catch our flight.Being on the airplane was a new experience for me. The flight attendants were nice ladies who kept giving us snacks and drinks. I watched movies on the little TV screen built into the seat in front of me. But I got a little antsy having to sitongo for so many hours. My wiggly legs kept kicking the seat in front of me by accident. Annie fell asleep which was no fair! After what felt like a bajillion hours, the plane finally landed in Honolulu on the island of Oahu. Walking off the airplane, thatfirst breath of warm humid air and sight of bright green trees was amazing. Hawaii really did look like a tropical paradise! A friendly guy with a fun Hawaiian shirt drapped leis of beautiful flowers around our necks to welcome us.We took a shuttle from the airport to check into our beachside hotel. Our room had a big balcony with a gorgeous view of the turquoise blue ocean. Annie and I could hardly stand the excitement, begging Mom and Dad to take us down to the beach right away. They made us rest for a little bit first after our long flight. But soon enough we got to run free on that amazing beach! The sand was so perfectly soft and white between my toes. Annie and I had a blast chasing waves and building sandcastles. The ocean water was warm and clear and just wonderful for swimming. We saw some little fish darting around in the shallows. After a few hours, we were tired hungry beach bums ready for a good dinner.Over the next few days, we went on so many fun adventures around Oahu. We took a boat tour where we saw huge families of spinner dolphins swimming and leaping all around us. On a snorkeling trip, we got to see the prettiest coral reefs and all types of tropical fish. One day we hiked up to the top of amountain ridge with the most incredible views of the whole island.Pearl Harbor was a sobering place to visit and learn about that tragic day in history. But I felt proud of the bravery shown by the American soldiers. We also wandered around the historical sites and buildings of Honolulu itself. I tried some Hawaiian food like Kalua pork, Loco moco, and Haupia coconut pudding. The flavors were deliciously unique. One day we took a short flight to the big island of Hawaii. Wow, that place was amazing too! We went whale watching and saw huge humpback whales breaching out of the water. Then we traveled up to the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and walked through a stark volcanic landscape. Wisps of steam and smoke drifted out of the craters from deep within the earth. It felt so primordial and powerful. All too soon, our wonderful Hawaiian vacation was over. I was really sad to leave such a paradise behind. But clutched in my hands was a backpack full of awesome souvenirs like tiki carvings and colorful aloha shirts. My sun-kissed skin had turned a few shades darker too. Hawaii had been a whirlwind of breathtaking natural beauty, fascinating cultural sites, and nonstop fun island adventures.Back home, it was time to start another school year and swap stories with my friends about our summer travels. My tales of swimming with dolphins and watching lava erupt from volcanoes definitely topped anything they did! Hawaii left me withsun-drenched memories to last forever. It also gave me a craving to explore more of this big, beautiful world on future family vacations. Maybe somewhere like Australia or Costa Rica next time? I can't wait to someday become a well-traveled student of the world.篇4My Best Summer EverSummer vacation is the best time of the year! No school, no homework, just fun all day and night. This summer was the most awesome summer I've ever had. I got to go on so many adventures and do lots of cool stuff. It started out with a big bang - literally! On the 4th of July, my family drove out to the country to watch the most incredible fireworks show. We parked at my aunt and uncle's farm and set up chairs and blankets in their big field. As it got darker, more and more families arrived carrying picnic baskets and glow sticks. Finally, when it was totally dark, the fireworks began! Bright colors exploded across the sky - reds, blues, greens, purples, and shimmering silver and gold. Some burst into smiley faces or stars. Others made sizzling noises as they shot up and crackled when they burst. With each "oooh" and "aahh" from the crowd, a new firework would light up the sky. It was like magic! After the grand finale of the biggest, brightest fireworks yet, we packed up and headed home, my brother and I clutching glowsticks and sleepily rubbing our eyes. That night I dreamed of fireworks dancing across the stars.A week later, we left on our annual family vacation. This year we drove to the mountains for a week of hiking, exploring, and camping under the stars. I was a little nervous about camping at first, but it ended up being so much fun!We pitched our tent in a grassy meadow surrounded by towering pine trees. During the day, we went on awesome hikes. We climbed up rocky trails through the forest, stopping to examine cool bugs or rocks along the way. At the tops of the mountains, we could see forever! The views stretched out in every direction with mountains, valleys, and forests as far as the eye could see.My favorite hike was up to a beautiful waterfall. We could hear it crashing on the rocks before we even reached it. When we finally made it, the waterfall was bigger than I ever imagined! Icy cold water tumbled over a cliff, spraying refreshing mist everywhere. We took off our shoes and waded in the shallows, feeling the power of the rushing water. At night after roasting marshmallows and hotdogs over the campfire, we'd lie back and gaze up at the diamonds scattered across the velvety black sky. The stars seemed so close I could almost reach out and grab a handful of sparkly stardust. I tried to count them but lost track after a few thousand. I'd never seen so many stars! One morning, my brother and I were up before Mom and Dad to explore on our own. We trekked down to the riverbank and followed it upstream, hopping across rocks and watching tadpoles wiggle in the clear water. Suddenly, we both froze as a deer stepped out onto the path in front of us! It was bigger than any deer I'd ever seen with majestic antlers and a reddish-brown coat. We both held our breath, watching in awe, as it calmly drank from the river before looking up at us and gracefully bounding off into the trees."Wow," my brother whispered once it was gone. "That was so cool!" I could only nod, unable to find words for the magic we had witnessed.Too soon, our week was over and we had to pack up and head home. I was sad to leave the forest, but brought a little bit of it back with me - a pocket full of interesting rocks and seeds, pine cones, and dirt-stained memories to last until next summer's adventure. When we got back home, the hot and sticky city felt boring after our mountain escape. Thank goodness my camp started the next week! I went to day camp every summer, but this year felt more special since I was one of the oldest kids there and got to be a junior camp counselor.I loved being a little leader and helping teach the younger kids. We went on nature walks and I knew all the coolest bugs and biggest trees to point out. I showed them how to make necklaces from blades of grass and friendship bracelets from embroidery floss. At outdoor cooking time, I was the s'mores master, carefully instructing everyone on the perfect way to roast a golden brown marshmallow.During camp talent shows, I impressed my friends with my stellar hula hoop skills and big voice singing karaoke into ahairbrush "microphone." We put on wacky skits and dances for the parents at the end of each week. I even got to dress up and do face painting at the carnival one day!On hot afternoons, we'd run through the icy cold sprinklers on the lawn or have epics games of capture the flag in the shade of the sprawling oaks. Tag, hide and seek, you're it, red rover - we played them all. I felt like I got to relive篇5My Summer VacationThe summer vacation was so much fun! School had just ended and I was really excited to have weeks and weeks off with no homework or tests. My parents had promised we could go on a big trip this year since my little brother was finally old enough to travel without too much fussing. We decided to go to the beach for a whole week! I had never been to the beach before except for a quick day trip once when I was really little. My mom showed me pictures from when we went that time and I was just a baby, so I didn't remember it at all. The beach looked like paradise in the photos though - bright blue water, soft golden sand, and gorgeous sunny skies.A few days before our trip, my dad took us to buy all the stuff we would need. We got a big colorful beach umbrella, some buckets and shovels for making sandcastles, and fun beach balls. My mom bought us new swimsuits too. I got one with sharks on it because sharks are my favorite! My little brother got one with dinosaurs which he was really excited about. Finally the day came to leave for our trip! We packed up the car with our suitcases, the beach toys, some boogie boards, and a huge cooler full of snacks and drinks. The drive to the beach seemed to take forever. My brother and I kept asking "Are we there yet?" over and over again. But at last we made it!When we first stepped out of the car, I could smell the salty ocean air. It was a scent like nothing else! We rented a cute little beach house just a short walk from the shore. After unloading everything, we immediately put our swimsuits on and hurried down to the beach. The sand was so soft and warm between my toes. The water was a brilliant shade of blue-green. I had never seen anything like it!We spent the entire first day just playing in the waves and trying to body board. The saltwater would get in my mouth sometimes which tasted really weird. But I didn't care because I was having a blast! We also tried burying my dad in the sand andturning him into a mermaid sculpture. He was a pretty hilarious-looking mermaid! Each morning, we would wake up and my dad would make pancakes for breakfast. Then we'd grab our beach stuff and camp out by the ocean until lunch time. In the afternoons, we usually explored around the beach town. We went mini golfing one day which I won! On another day, we visited this amazing aquarium full of sharks, rays, and all kinds of other cool sea creatures. I even got to feed a dolphin which was one of the most amazing things ever. Some evenings we would have a bonfire right on the beach and roast marshmallows for s'mores. Other nights we would go out for fresh seafood at different restaurants. I tried shrimp, crab, and even swordfish for the first time. I liked it all, especially with lots of lemon and butter. My favorite part though was just spending those relaxing days on the beach, feeling the warm sun, playing in the waves, and breathing in that wonderful ocean air. We went exploring at low tide and found all kinds of neat shells and even a few sand dollars. I loved running away from the incoming waves as they rushed up the shore. My brother and I would race to see who could jump over them without getting our feet wet.By the end of the week, I had a deep tan, hair that was crispy with saltwater, and a heart full of happy memories. I also had a shoebox full of all the coolest shells and treasures I had found to take home as souvenirs. As we packed up the car to leave, I felt so sad to be going. I didn't want the magic to end!On the long drive home, my brother and I crashed hard and slept most of the way. We were so exhausted from endless days of fun in the sun. When we finally made it back, I ran right up to my room and pulled out my special beach shoebox. I spent hours going through every item, remembering all the good times.I couldn't wait to go back to the beach again. Maybe next year we could make it two whole weeks instead of just one! Until then, I would just have to dream about the crashing waves, the soft sand, and the incredible adventures that were waiting there whenever I returned. That first beach vacation had given me a glimpse of paradise and made me forever long for the summer days of saltwater, sunshine, and pure bliss.篇6My Super Fun Summer VacationI had the best summer vacation ever this year! School let out in June and I got to spend almost three whole months not havingto wake up early or do any homework. I love school, but summer is way more fun.The first couple weeks I just got to relax and sleep in late. My mom didn't make me do any chores or anything. I played lots of video games and watched cartoons and movies all day if I wanted to. I beat all the levels on my new game "Intergalactic Space Explorers 5" where you get to fly a spaceship and go on missions to different planets. It took me forever but I finally unlocked all the cool spaceships and outfits for my character. After a few weeks of just hanging out at home though, I started to get a little bored. That's when the real fun started happening! My parents took me and my little brother to this awesome waterpark called Splash Kingdom. They had these massive waterslides that looped all the way around like roller coasters. I was a little scared to go on them at first because they were so big and tall. But after watching some other kids my age go down and seeing how much fun they were having, I got brave and tried it. It was so exhilarating! My stomach felt like it was in my throat the whole way down. We must have gone on those slides a hundred times. The next week we went camping up in the mountains. We hiked deep into the forest to this really pretty spot right next to abig lake. My dad showed me how to set up our tent and build a campfire. He taught me safety rules like clearing the area around the fire and never leaving it unattended. We roasted hot dogs and made s'mores. I tried catching fish in the lake with my new fishing pole but didn't have any luck. We saw some deer and squirrels up close though which was cool.At night we got to sleep out under the stars. The sky looked amazing with more stars than I've ever seen before. It made me think about how big the universe must be. We told ghost stories and my dad pointed out the different constellations to me. I had so much fun that week just being out in nature, away from screens and technology. I didn't even miss playing video games!A few weeks later, my aunt and uncle came to visit us from another state. They took us to this really neat science museum downtown. It had all these hands-on exhibits where you could do fun experiments. In one area, you could create your own tornadoes by spinning these tubes around. In another, you could build circuits and make robots move. My favorite was the planetarium where you got to see the planets, stars, and galaxies projected all around you on the domed ceiling. The whole museum was like a gigantic playground but you were learning the whole time too! They also took us to the city's professional baseball stadium to see a game. I had been to little league games before, but never a big baseball stadium like that. We had awesome seats right down the third base line. I watched in amazement as the players hit monster home runs that flew way up into the stands. One player on the home team hit a grand slam and the whole crowd went crazy cheering. It was incredible being a part of that energy and excitement. I'm definitely going to start playing baseball more.Towards the end of the summer, we took a road trip out to visit my grandparents in another state. The drive took around ten hours, but it was still lots of fun. My brother and I loaded up my portable gaming system with tons of games and movies to keep us entertained. We also brought along books and played road trip games like I Spy and the License Plate Game. Every few hours we'd stop to eat or get drinks and snacks. I loved getting to see the countryside roll by out the window for miles and miles. It felt like we were on a great adventure going somewhere new and exciting. When we finally made it to my grandparents' house, they had a big welcome party for us. All my aunts, uncles, and cousins were there too. We had a giant cookout with hamburgers, hotdogs, corn on the cob, and all my other favorite foods. After we ate, all the cousins went out back and played for hours. We had a massive game of hide and seek around their huge backyard that went on forever. It was so much fun being able to run around outside in the fresh air with no parents telling us to be quiet. In the evenings, we'd all sit around the fire pit and makes'mores again while the adults talked and told funny stories from when they were kids. My grandpa would pretend he was going to toss us into the fire if we didn't behave! But he was just joking around. We got to stay up way later than we're allowed at home, just hanging out as a family. Before I knew it, the summer was over and it was time to go back to school. I was really sad to see it end, but also excited to see my friends and start a new grade. This was definitely the best summer I've ever had. We did so many amazing things and made so many incredible memories as a family. I can't wait for next summer so we can have even more adventures! Maybe we'll finally go to Disney World like we've been talking about. I've got my fingers crossed!。
