People threw into the water zongzi and eggs to dievert possible fish or shrimp from attacking his body.The custom of eating zongzi and preserved eggs remains till today.People also poured jugs of realgar wine into the water,hoping to turn all aquatic beasts drunk.

Dragon Boat Racing
Dragon boat racing is an indispensable part of the festival,held all over the country.As the gun is fired,people will see racers in dragon-shaped canoes pulling the oars harmoniously and hurriedly,accompanied by rapid drums,speeding toward their destination.
On Dragon Boat Festival,people always put up moxa (艾 蒿）,leaves and calamus twigs on the doors to ward off evil and care away the evil diseases.
