1. Introduction
Two pieces of RY946 were received from PCEBG/EPD/Engineering, One piece for cross section analysis and the other for dye & pry analysis. The specimens to be tested were specified as follows:

3. Test Procedure
3.1 Cross Section
The preparing procedure is conformed to IPC-TM-650 2.1.1. First used precision cutter to cut out the components from the Plum RY946, and then vacuum encapsulated in epoxy after ultrasonic cleaning, finally when finished grinding and polishing used the metallurgical microscope to inspect the cross section.
3.2 Dye & Pry
The preparing procedure is described as follow. Use a solvent with a spray to clean the flux residue, immerse the sectioned sample in the dye then place it into vacuum chamber to aid in dye penetration. Dry the sample in an oven by baking at 65℃for up to 3 hours. The component is removed by mechanical method. Use microscope to examine the board and part, take photos of dyed regions.
