7.1 复习笔记

一、联络口译

联络口译又称联络陪同口译。联络陪同口译的任务就是在接待、旅游等事务中担任口译工作。

二、联络口译的要求

1. 强烈的责任感

①接到联络口译任务后，准确把握工作的时间和场所，做到心中有数

②在口译工作之前进行大量的细致准备，了解接待客人的身份、爱好、特点等背景信息和客人活动的内容等。

2. 百科全书般的渊博知识

联络口译中涉及到的内容往往比会议口译更为随意和灵活。例如，在双方共进晚餐的时候，所进行的谈话几乎完全是随机的，上至天文、下至地理，无所不包，译员不太可能对讲话内容做出先期准备。在这种情况下，译员的知识面显得非常重要。

3. 跨文化交际意识

文化因素，包括宗教、家庭、传统、价值观等，决定人们如何行动和如何适应环境。不重视跨文化交际意识的培养，经常会导致口译工作的失误，甚至带来很严重的后果。

7.2 实例详解

Exercise 2

The following exercise is for you to practice liaison or dialogue interpreting. Divide the class into 3-party groups, each with 3 students playing the 3 different roles. The first party plays the role of an English-speaking person. The second plays the part of a Chinese-speaking person. The third acts as an interpreter. As the dialogue goes on, the student interpreter does the interpreting two ways at the end of each segment. After one round, students in each group may change roles and do

the practice again.

Visiting Guangzhou University Town

Participants:

1. Mr. Chen, Director of the International Office, Guangdong Higher Education Department

2. Mr. Johnson, representative of the British Council, London

3. Interpreter

Scenario:

You have been asked to interpret on behalf of Guangdong Higher Education Department, who is receiving a guest from the British Council in the UK on a trip to the newly-established Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center (Guangzhou University Town) ...

陈主任：约翰逊先生，我们现在已经进入广州大学城了。这里被定位为国家一流的大学园区，华南地区高级人才培养、科学研究和学术交流的中心，面向21世纪适应市场经济体制和广州国际化区域中心城市地位的城市新区。//

【译文】Mr. Johnson, now we have entered the Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center, also known as the Guangzhou University Town. It is positioned as the first-class higher learning institution park in the whole nation, the center for advanced talents cultivation, scientific research and academic exchanges in South China and a new urban area in line with the market economic system in the 21st century as well as Guangzhou’s position as an internationalized regional center.//

【解析】联络口译中，说话者所说的内容一般比较即兴，口语色彩较浓，因此译员需充分调动自己的知识储备，尽可能流畅准确地译出说话者所要表达的意思。被定位为……It is positioned as。

Johnson: I have heard a lot about the Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center when I visited some of the local universities on my current trip. I must say it looks quite impressive, Mr. Chen. I’m particularly happy with the fact that the University Town is surrounded by the Pearl River. It seems that it is on an island, isn’t it?//

【译文】我此次访问广州，在参观几所本地大学的时候，听到了许多关于广州大学城的情况。陈主任，这地方看上去非常不错。我特别喜欢大学城被珠江环绕。看上去它坐落于一个小岛上面，是吗？//

【解析】原文意思比较简单，注意调整语序。

陈主任：您说的对！大学城位于广州市中心区以南20公里处的小谷围岛上。小谷围岛，3年前在广州市民中还是一个默默无闻的珠江水系岛屿，2001年3月，这个岛及其南岸地区43.3平方公里土地，被正式确定为广州大学城规划用地。//

【译文】Exactly! The Guangzhou University Town lies on Xiaoguwei Island, 20 kilometers south to the center of Guangzhou. 3 years ago, Xiaoguwei Island was nothing but an island in the Pearl River, unknown to the general public of Guangzhou. In March, 2001, this island, together with the 43.3 square kilometers of land on its south bank became the land planned for the Guangzhou University
