Background
The story of Vanity Fair is based on the upper class of Britain in the early 19th century. At that time, in the era of vigorous development of capitalist economy, merchants oppressed and exploited the workers at the bottom of the society. The people at the bottom of the society had a more difficult life, while the businessmen at the top of the society were richer, which formed a sharp contrast. In this reality, people pursue fame and wealth, power and status, and even lose themselves.
As he tells the story, the author interjects commentary from time to time, turning himself into appreciator of the passage, not its creator, and sharing the story with the reader.
