Unit 1 Where did you buy that hat?

The first period

Teaching Aims: Revise the words and sentences learnt last term.

Key points: Revise Travelling, Activities, Prices, Comparing, The solar system Difficult points: To remember and use the sentences.

Teaching Materials: Pictures, paper, music from Level 7.

Teaching Procedure:

Step 1: Warm up.

A: Sing a song.

“We live in the solar system.”

B: Ask and answer about the solar system.

What are the nine planets?

Which is the biggest/smallest…?

Step 2: Memory game.(To revise the words learnt last term.)

A: Have the Ss look at Do you know?pages in their books. After a minute, have them close their books. Put the groups of four.

B: Tell them to write down as many items as they can remember from the illustration.

C: After a few minutes ask them to reopen their books and check the items they remembered. The group that remembers the most is the

winner.

Step 3:Guessing game: How much is it /are they?

A: Collecting some school things.

B: Put Ss into groups of four.

C: Guessing the prices by asking and answering.

How much is the box of tissues?

Is it 2 yuan ?

No, it’s not.

D: Comparing the prices.

Which is the most expensive?

Which is the cheapest/biggest…?

E: Ask and answer about the prices.

Look at the picture on the Do you know? page.

Step 4: Revise How often

A: Revise once a week/once a month/twice a day/twice a week/three times a year.

B: Draw a table. T point to the bus on Do you know page. Ask How

often do you take the bus?Ss reply:I take….T writes bus on once

column.

C: Put Ss in to pairs, do the same above.

D: Then point to the girl (go dancing)

Ask and answer about the picture.

Step 5: Planet action.

A: Divide the class into groups of four.

B: Each student focuses on one of the four planets in the Do you know…?

illustration.

C: Ask Ss to write four sentences about their planet, e.g. The green socks are cheaper than the red socks.

D: When they are done, Ss cut out the individual statements, place them face down on the desk and mix them up.

E: Ss take turns turning over a paper strip, reading the statement and placing it on the correct planet.

Step 6:Summary:

Read the words.

Read the sentences.

Step 7: Homework

Continue to write an article.

On the blackboard:

Do you know?

How much is it/are they?

How do you get to the bookstore?

How often do you go dancing?

Who is faster?

Which is the fastest?
